@@Austin101123 If they felt it was too vague they'd probably ask him to be more specific. They'll often give examples for this kind of thing, and it was the second round so he'd seen other people do it.
“Play it safe and go parmesan cheese” - did he just misunderstand the point of the game? If he knows he is NOT a food aficionado, then why on earth would he pick a food that HE knew of? He clearly knew what Parmesan was - he identified it as a type of cheese. Surely he should have gone for a food he had never heard of! Either he did not understand the point of the game, or he was tired and wanted for forfeit the game and go home.
Do you not understand the game? He has to give a correct answer, so he needs to be able to say what kind of food a listed item is. If he doesn't know it he won't be able to give a correct answer. He was playing it safe by getting a high score that's lower than the 100 he'd get for being wrong. And it backfired because of an unprecedented situation.
You are supposed to choose one of the foods, and then say what kind of food they are. For instance, another contestant would say "plaice" is a fish, another would say that "porcini" is a mushroom, etc.
Why are the comments here so angry? They're all like "what an IDIOT. If it were me in that position I would've done far better than his tiny, feeble brain could comprehend. I hate this show and all that it stands for"
I love how this is extremely confusing to me as a person who’s never seen this show: No clue if under or over is better. The entire screen kits up for the reveal leaving me confused. Since reveals are meant to be dramatic. Hear the 100 and think they are trying to find the lowest scoring answer that still had at least one person answering it so technically he won from that perspective?
It's kind of like Family Feud, but you want the least given survey answers and to get the least points, BUT, you have to give correct answers to the question, so if it asks for cities in Mongolia, you have to name actual cities in Mongolia. An incorrect answer is also worth 100 points, this clip being the reason why some argue it should be 101 just out of respect haha.
I think there was one other case I remember where a correct answer got 100 points. I think it had to do with world capitals, and the description for one was "Host for the 2012 Summer Olympics". Of course, the contestant correctly answered "London", which turned out to be worth 100 points.
British shows seem to barely notice positive things. In the USA they would have screamed for hours, and if the contestant was black even a little dance session would go off
Two coincidences: - on the US Who Wants to Be a Millionaire... someone Asked the Audience about Parmesan cheese... and ALSO got 100% of the crowd knowing it. 🤯🤯🤯 (There's an ancient, bad-resolution video of it somewhere on RU-vid). - Less certain, I think Sarah appeared on UK Duel, 2008-02-09 - either that or it's a striking likeness. If so, she played blue and lost to a lady named Wanda.
