The movie ending with him underwater at the ferris wheel is just too nihilistic, empty, and painful. There's nothing wrong with giving a movie some heart. I love how Spielberg ended it.

I was surprised to learn Spielberg only wrote 3 screenplays in his lifetime. Close Encounters, AI, and Fabelmans. All deeply personal and considered masterpieces.

Man, the only thing I can say about seeing movies as a six-year-old back in 1979, boy, girl, teenager, kid, kindergartener, didn't matter. They gave it to you HARD. All the way to the limits of the MPAA rating.

I was 11 years old when this tv showed up on our cable tv channel. I fell in love with the movie. I had forgotten the name but yet I used to search alot randomly. After 19 years in 2020 found this movie after searching alot. N watched it in 2024 april. It will always be my number one favorite movie. Unpopular for many but a gem for the others. Showed the eternal love of a mother and child. I lost my mother a month ago. And my sister and I cried 15 mins ago while I was telling her the story of this movie and how close this movie has been since 23 years ❤️ Mother- Child eternal love. I love my Mother alot

One of the greatest films ever made as far as I'm concerned. No film has ever made me bawl and weep quite like this. Kubrick and Spielberg created something truly miraculous with this film, and the dreamy-yet-eerie soundtrack only enhances that.

I didn't hate it....but it was depressing.....and that 2000 years into the future ending just made it more depressing. I first saw it after it had come out on DVD in 2002--by then 9/11 had happened and the towers were gone--and I just felt so sad for the next few days after watching.....I guess thats what makes it a great film in the end....when it clings to your emotions like that

Fun fact: Anton Furst was under contract with Columbia, and wanted to find a way to work on Batman Returns. And Burton just sort of unceremoniously cut this guy off, just stopped taking his calls, and this was where he was doing a lot of work for personal friends, and professional relationships. He was just cutting ties with people sort of inexplicably. And unfortunately, he had substance abuse problems. He was supposed to go into rehab and was going to check himself in. And then one night, he just decided… to jump off a roof instead. He committed suicide. It was a month and a half after realizing “Oh, so they don't want me for this next Batman movie.” He and Burton had never had a chance to reconcile. Burton just stopped speaking to him. Furst had no idea what happened, he spiraled into this depression and that's how it ended. (Obviously, I'm not saying he died because of what Burton did to him, Furst was a very troubled guy. I guess it's just because Burton is famously a guy who avoids conflict. Like he had the producer of Batman Returns fire his agents for him so that he can sign on with a different agency. Like he just doesn't want to have those conversations. I think Burton had probably already decided “I just made Edward Scissorhands, I want the designer to reimagine everything because I don't want to make the same movie again.” And rather than trying to let Anton Furst down, gently, it was just like “Or I could not talk to him at all and then eventually he'll figure it out.”)

God's children are not for sale. The scapegoating of the natural moral law into a conformity of silence in favor of sin is no different than the Nicolaitions (mentioned in The Apocalypse). The Nicolaitions which insinuated that freedom in Christ granted them a blank check to sin. The fault of believers in Pergamum was not so much that they had followed this pernicious teaching but that they had allowed it to be vocalized in the congregation. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. -- Revelation 2:6 There is a massive level of confusion going on within the Catholic Church now. The philosophy of the Nicolaitions WAS lacking legal or moral restraints. especially : disregarding sexual restraints - licentious behavior - licentious revelers. : marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness. The philosophy of the Nicolaitions should NOT be conflated with the Nicomachean Ethics of Aristotle. According to Aristotle's ethical theory, the virtuous person exhibits the joint excellence of reason and of character when they engage in Nicomachean Ethics. I remember when I watched The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe many years ago. This would have been The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (1979) - American Version. I wept deeply when I saw this as a 9 year old child back on CBS on April 1-2, 1979. It wasn't until 10 years later in college, 19 years of age, that it was brought to my attention that the Lion was actually Christ. It was a pure revelation to me and I was awestruck. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CP5uXoNf7Nc.html Michael McKean was great in the movie D.A.R.Y.L. Michael played alongside Barret Oliver as D.A.R.Y.L. ("Data-Analyzing Robot Youth Lifeform.") This was an advanced movie for 1985. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b16ORBT0ImE.html Daryl was an artificial intelligence experiment created by a government company called TASCOM. Physically resembling a ten-year-old boy, Daryl's brain is actually a highly advanced microcomputer with extraordinary abilities, including exceptional reflexes, multitasking skills, and the ability to hack computer systems. The experiment was intended to produce a super-soldier and was funded by the military. Some of it was reminiscent of Artificial Intelligence (or simply A.I.) the 2001 American science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg. Now I have taken an authentic Franciscan view from Colossians 3 which goes into great detail of how we should live in Christ. And I have been so much more at peace in Christ. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. If we look at the most basic level, there are aspects of 'social media' that have turned people into cowardly sycophants -- a person who acts obsequiously toward someone important in order to gain advantage -- that are horrified at the idea of being ostracized in any way. This is an example of bizarre "communist tactics" where people go to 'protect the economy' at the expense of human freedom. This type of social lunacy is exactly what Jordan Peterson warned us about. Child Trafficking is certainly happening under the hidden veils of social media as people “like” their way to hell, the fastest growing international network of crime the world has ever seen. It has already passed the illegal arms trade. And soon will pass the drug trade because they can sell a bag of cocaine one time -- the child 5 - 10 times a day. God's children are not for sale. When one outright refuses to cooperate for simple things, simple things that reciprocate kindness for everyone, this could be a form of 'passive aggressiveness'. They would typically covertly breed malcontent, posing as the magnanimous hero where in reality they are a person who is dissatisfied and rebellious. The important part to note is that the truly magnanimous hero is sincerely invested in increasing everyone's energy, fairly evaluating their ability to reciprocate kindness and energy. A covert narcissist would actually seek to unfairly steel your energy because it merely suits their whims without them having to consider your hopes and dreams. For what it's worth, I believe Steven Spielberg is one of the good ones who reciprocates kindness for everyone. Stephen King is another on who should be greatly respected because he also authentically awakened us to genuine dangers. Stephen King also reciprocates kindness for everyone. Certain aspects of social media (like Tik Tok) are much like an abomination that makes desolate. It seems as though large swaths of the Asian world will be left so desolate they will feel like the actor Viggo Mortensen playing the father and his son wandering along The Road (2009). One could even convoke Tom Hanks again in his role of Finch (2021) and his robot and dog as they travel to California. This NEXT 'Carrington Event' is going to potentially hurt Russia and Asia a lot.
