I'm so irritated by Disney for the cancellation because obviously they were going for more mature themes. Had the show continued just like the original show because it became more mature as they got older but no Disney. Didn't want the show to be in someone else's hands so they canceled it.
I liked how it ended, Riley and Lucas felt right, their characters gravitated to each other. They were more sustainable. And Maya and Lucas were great friends. They don't have to date to be in each other's lives, they make great friends imo. Maya needs a fire cracker, or at least one who can keep up with her fire cracker tendencies without wanting to 'tame' her.
And I hate how lucas got in the way of Riley and Mayas friendship and didn't even care. I say Maya and Riley focus on there friendship and find a new guy
i’m 4 years too late, but everyone says riley hide her feelings, when maya did the entire show until season 2 . and yea the way he looks at riley, but the way his eyes focus on her and him smiling every time he talks to her is true love . he picked riley for maya . 😭💕
They both should’ve just turned away from Lucas to keep a healthy friendship with no boy lol in my opinion, but even Riley at the semi formal should’ve realized Lukas as just a brother and should’ve told the connection that Maya and Lucas had. It should’ve been Maya though
I disliked that the writers summed it up to “Maya wanted to see if Lucas was good enough for Riley”. Maya turning into Riley would of been more impactful if Maya found herself without it having to be something “bad”. Maya is a character from a broken family. She has these deep feelings because she has been through some things, so naturally being rejected and counted as the troubled kid she may have wanted to be someone else and that someone else being Riley because she seemed to be liked and accepted by the majority. That would make sense And then that could of lead to how Maya has seen “Lucas and Riley at their best when they talk to eachother” (Maya said this at the campfire-though she used it as an example of why she thought riley and him were headed to a more sister and brother relationship) and how she just wanted that for herself, and hence why she developed feelings for Lucas and became confused about the feelings and what they meant because she also liked hanging out with Lucus and making fun of him so it’s confusing. The writers had the perfect set up and real life growing pains showcased but didn’t use the correct explanations for the story to make sense.
maya sacrificed her own feelings for her best friends to be happy, maya as cared about riley ever since they were kids and all she wants is for riley to be happy. maya deserved so much, if you don't have a friend like maya find one
I can see why people prefer them over Riley and him because they have no chemistry. However I don't get people believing she'd choose/be happy with Lucas over Josh... He's cuter, older and actually has a personality. She'd drop him like a hot potato once that became a possibility, which is kind of what she did in Ski Lodge anyway.. 😂 Joshaya forever 🫶
