I own a 779 in black. Since 1992. It still works perfect. Exzellent device. The loading mechanism and the whole quality of this player is top notch (and look at the reading time, you cannot find that in today's players, nowhere !) ! And the sound-quality too.
The tone arm here is adjusted too high. The needle is supposed to be only 8mm from the record's surface in the UP position. Not very far at all. You can see that your tone arm base is pushed far down against the rails by the white line calibration lines on the right hand side of the base. The long (middle) one should be close to ... the middle. And line up with the turntable housing. From the front.
That is so cool to see your Pedersen preamp in action. The Pedersen Model PRT-ILC “PRELUDE” Preamp that I own has the power supply built into the chassis. Your unit has an outboard power supply. I wonder is it an earlier or later unit. The Model AFM-2 “PARAGON” AM-FM Tuner has a matching front panel design. These were really high end when they were built.

The Sony DTC-87ES was introduced in 1991 The DTC-87ES was one of Sony's top of the range DAT recorder featuring 4 heads and a 4-DD Motor Mechanical Deck System.
Saludos.
