Argentina could have lost in the 90th minute of the final when Rensenbrink hit the goalpost, and the controversy would be over.
In the match France vs Argentina, the referee did not award a penalty to France and warned Argentina's players that he won't forgive another penalty. On the contrary, he gifted a penalty to Argentina.
There was also a goal from Brazil that was annulled because the referee blew the wistle while the ball was in the air. Similar to what happened to Real Madrid recently. There was no way anyone else except Argentina was going to win, especially Brazil.
Yes, that disallowed goal was against Sweden in the group stage. It makes no sense. The ref allowed them to take the corner but blew the whistle as the ball was being crossed in just before it was headed in.
There was more to the controversy, Quiroga, the Peruvian goalkeeper was born in Argentina, and supposedly Peru was again paid a visit during half time from the General. Even if he just came around to say hi, these moments are supposed to be for the coach to give instructions and for the players to focus, not for politicians to make speeches. Yes, absolutely. I could do a whole video on this whole incident. Kissinger was a guest of honour at the World Cup that Videla invited. I believe he even supported the policies of Argentina and the supposed fight on terrorism etc.

EDIT Argentina sent 35,000 tonnes of grain, there were rumours of bribes by both Brazil (for Peru to win) and Argentina (for Peru to lose and Poland to win) and my point about the goalkeeper was moot. He was 28 and had also started against Poland at least but had only been in the National team for a year.

They didn't play the second group matches at the same time. Argentina always played at last knowing how all matches had ended, that is why Argentina knew they had to defeat Peru by 4 or more goals to qualify to the final since Brazil was going to qualify instead if they didn't defeat Peru by that required goal difference. Peru had a military government just as Argentina did, and the day of match the Peruvian president ordered the Peruvian team to let Argentina win without opposition and the match ended 6 - 0. Days later the Peruvian government received containers with wheat and money sent by the Argentinian government. Coincidence? Not a chance. Also, the Peruvian goalkeeper was born in Argentina which further increases suspicions. Argentina bought that title. They are even responsible for the kidnapping of Johan Cruyff, they will just never admit it.

They even lose to Italy and got to go to Rosario. They won fairly against an already eliminated Peru that even hit the goalpost twice in the game. And there is nothing strange in the final. The Netherlands could even won at the last minute. There is an awful double standard from Europeans when it comes to these things. They have the most stained hands in the sport but love to see that in non European countries. And can you tell me how the hell Argentina could kidnap Cruyff in Barcelona? Do you think we are the USA or something like that? You are absolutely overestimating our relevance.

To this day, the 1950 WC win against Brazil is considered the highest moment of nationak pride for the Uruguayans. The players were revered as national heroes to their last day. On the contrary, in Brazil the players, particularly goalkeeper Barbosa, were ostracized for the rest of their lives.

Also some other fun facts about Pelé and those Brazilian teams in 58' 62' 70' is that; -Brazil is one of only two nations in wc history who won back to back world cups , in 1934 and 1938 for Italy and 1958 and 1962 for Brazil. - Brazil in 1970 is the only world Cup winning team to win all their games in qualification and in-tournament games/ games in the tournament itself. -i also believe 1958 Brazil was one of if not the first world cup teams to have a multicultural group which was pretty big at the time. Also 1958 wc was when Brazil won their first world cup in history and they had the biggest winning margin in a world cup final, winning 5-2 against Sweden in the 1958 world cup final -pelé scored or assisted a goal in every world cup game he played a full game , except the games he got injured in. - Pele also had 8 assist in his world cup career, tied with Maradona, Messi etc all time. Including, i believe, 5 assists in the 1970 world cup edition. - pelés goal record in the world cup was 12 goals and 8 assists in 14 games. All 4 games being in the knockout stage of the tournament, which is arguably the hardest series of games to play in, with it being on the world cup stage aswell..... Legendary!! Just as Hungary in 1954, Netherlands also thought they already won only to lose in the end, but despite Hungary there was no heavy rain to prevent them to play their football style. Too bad for Netherlands, they would most likely have won in 1978 had Cruyff played.
As a Germany national team die hard fan, I would take the German 4 world cups over the Romantic Football of Holland and zero world cups. You play to win the game, that's what the Germans do, and I hope people enjoyed the down years since glorious 2014, because we are coming back. Great video, more subscribers are deserved... 100% agree. Being remembered as a great footballing side is nice e.g. Hungary 54, Holland 74, and 82 Brazil but ultimately winning matters the most. Also, thank you so much for the kind words. I've been very pleased to see the growth of the channel.
1 other team has won the World Cup and then the European Championship - France in 1998 and 2000. If the measure is a single country holding both titles at the same time, wouldn’t that also count?

East Germany and West Germany were drawn against each other in the Euro 1992 Qualifiers, and drawn with Luxembourg, Belgium and Wales, but on Wednesday 3rd October 1990 reunification of the two countries took place, and the West Germany fixtures became the fixtures for Germany. Therefore the 1974 World Cup match was the only game they ever played against each other. Brazil, not only lost Pele, but many of the players who won the 1970 World Cup, and only Seven of the 1970 squad went to West Germany in 1974, with Jairzinho, Rivelino and Piazza who played in the 1970 Final, with the four other players being in the 1970 Squad: Émerson Leão, Zé Maria, Paulo Cézar Caju and Edu.
