Oh man my favorite superhero is nightwing he’s been my favorite since I was a kid I can remember trying to dress up like him for Halloween and no one knew who he was, I had to do a lot of explaining that night, now is a different story and he’s a fan favorite for meny now. But this video made my day I can talk nightwing all day and I have to say you made some good suggestions I’m glad you mentioned the outsides by Judd winick but there’s a few others you should read that I know you’ll love, like robin and Batman by Jeff lemire or Peter j tomasi nightwing, and trust me once you read Judas contract you would love it just as much as endgame! The build up to that was just as epic .. well for me at least! And before Kyle Higgins left to write radiant black he did leave dc with a fun nightwing book called new order where nightwing takes away the superpowers of all the hero’s and then chaos happens I don’t really want to spoil it for you bust still check those out whenever you can and I promise you won’t regret it !… also if your a Batman beyond fan and a nightwing fan read Kyle Higgins run on Batman beyond, in it terry gets mad at Bruce and can’t trust him no more so he ends up meeting with dick for guidance and then dick Grayson takes over for Bruce as the man in the chair helping terry be better person and end up on some wild adventures it’s a great and fun read if interested!
I have Batman and Robin by Lemire, and my friend who recommended me Outsiders also recommended tomasi’s Nightwing! Nightwing is amazing! He could have turned out just like Batman, but Batman did everything in his power to make sure he turned out okay. I was worried this video wouldn’t do as well as my Batman and Superman one, but more and more people are becoming fans of Nightwing so I thought it was important! I held off on NTT for so long because so many of the books were out of print. I use to be a physical book only reader. Now I do so much reading digitally that I don’t have to wait or pay out of print prices! I only wish I had this book when I met Marv Wolfman this year!
can jordan also make these types of vids? it feels like you're the only one interested in the channel, it feels like the brave and the jake at the moment lol, he can make vids from his room and upload it, doesn't always have to be in the same room as you as you guys are busy and times may not match up to meet
@@TBATB with respect to that, majority of the time, the camera is still and you could honestly just man the camera yourself to make sure everything is ok, sorry if it feels like i am being grumpy, i came to the channel because i liked your guys chemistry and shared each others interests in comics, does he not want to be in front of the camera at all?

I had Osamu Tezuka's Apollo in that format and it's great, and you can have a special edition at this format too, less paper easier for sell, the thing is keeping the paper mate, that's the best thing about comics the art looks so much better and easier to read
Batman saw a child go through what he did and he did everything in his power to stop him from turning out just like him. Nightwing is everything Batman wish he could be!
New Teen Titans is my favorite team book of all time! I’d recommend looking up a reading order and going all the way through with the name change to “The Titans” I personally recommend a good stopping point being the “who is wonder girl” arc because it’s the last good arc before it really degrades in quality afterward. You can also stop when the roster changes and none of the original members are left. In terms of pre and post-crisis stuff, NTT was the best selling title of DC by far during the crisis so it’s one of the only three series (Green Lantern and sorta Batman) to not get a continuity wipe. Lastly, for that reason there’s a shocking amount of Silver and Bronze Age references in the book even post crisis. Specifically all the stuff with the Bronze Age team member Lilith that I would not have known had I not read the Bronze Age Omni. That’s the end of my soapbox lol. I love love this series and hope DC gets around to reprinting volumes 2-4 and we get that volume 6!!!!!
Soap box away! I love learning more about things I am interested in! I have a long ways to go on my titans journey, but I knew I had to read at least the full first omnibus and include it in this video! I love that the team isn’t great at the beginning. But they start to listen to Robin and start fighting as a unit instead of separate battles!
@@TBATBMy childhood and introduction was the 2003 animated Teen Titans show that was based off the NTT roster (minus Donna😢) The same way BTAS cultivated so many fans of the DC Universe, that series did it for me. I really hope we get the spin off comic series titled Teen Titans Go! in an Omni or a compendium as they’re releasing a lot of animated spin-offs these days. However, they’ve removed that series and many others off of Dc Universe infinite so I’m worried!
I really looked for this video a few weeks ago and couldn’t find a good video, shout-out to Jake for making my life much easier definitely am convinced that I should buy the Morrison Batman omnis (at least the first two anyway) for that Batman and robin run after this video fr !

So I got into reading/collecting via Omnibus format just over a year back. Initially I considered myself neutral over any Marvel/DC stance. Having picked up 50-55 Omnibus in that year, only 8 titles are DC - all Batman/Gotham Central. *I really feel DC are sleeping on the format with new readers* I would rush to buy a *John Byrne Man Of Steel Omnibus* if they released it rather than the 4 HC (#4 being out of stock) as i recall buying #1 of Superman Monthly (London Edition) back in 1988 as a young kid, recently finding out that Byrne was the author of that title, so for me it's got alot of nostalgia. As you point out with your breakdown, there's a lack of Suicide Squad omnibus (whilst looking at Marvel, they have five Thunderbolts omnibus?). Even the Tomasi Superman omnibus, the fact you've got Superman as a father will instantly push away many new casual readers who aren't familiar with Superman as a father or feel it's some later down the line story that's away from the core sagas of the character. Hopefully DC do put more omnibus out, I'm excited to grab Knightfall Vol 2 next year to add to Vol 1 (a set that were high on my list as I started collecting in 2024)
DC had their collected editions department gutted and then they had several giant mergers. But I think we are finally in a good place! They are really stepping up their game on 2025!
@@TBATB Really hope so, did see a few of the solicits for the next year, the *Deathstroke* Omni is one that I'm aiming to grab and I just recall I recently grabbed that *Lobo* compendium which I'd have been happier to grab as a omnibus hardcover style title.
You really need to check out 'Superman: Exile.' But ... for that to really hit home, you need to read John Byrne's run -- particularly, the arc in the pocket universe where he encounters alt-universe versions of Superboy (i.e., younger version of himself) and the three Phantom Zone criminals. Otherwise, nothing in 'Exile' makes sense, emotionally speaking. And it's worth it. 'Exile' is one of the best Superman stories ever told.
They got me hooked line and sinker. I did not know that’s what these compact editions were for. About two months ago I was in a little bookstore, saw Court of Owls, saw it was ten bucks, bought it. Read it in one sitting. Fast forward to now and I’ve spent almost $500 on about 20 Batman graphic novels, subscription to KindleUnlimited, ComixologyUnlimited, just bought Joker compact lol. girlfriend says I have a problem and she might be right…
We have all been there! It’s amazing! But remember really take advantage of the streaming service and sample before you buy physically. As much as it feels like it there’s no rush!
I've never read a comic before and it seems overwhelming to know where to even start. Can anyone tell me where to find the hardcover books that include multiple issues or a complete series? I never see them at bookstores or Target/Walmart, is it only an online thing? Any help will be appreciated, thank you.
Hello ! If you wanted to find books online your best bet is a local comic book store or a book store. Both are great places but you will usually pay what is called “cover price” You know how on the back of the book is says a price, in store you will usually pay the full amount. I am usually way more open to spending full price on a book if I am supporting a local comic shop vs a Barnes and Nobel. You are usually much better off tho buying books online as they sell them 30%-50% off of that cover price! We have a video on the best places to purchase. Our sponsor is Organic Price Books and they are an incredible place. You can also try Instock Trades or Cheap Graphic novel’s. Other places that would be less ideal are target.com and Amazon.com They will be a touch more expensive but what makes them much worse is they do not package the books at all. My favorite is Batman by Scott Snyder simply because it's nostalgic for me. The first time I actually read a comic physically was when a friend in middle school lent me The Court of Owls book. I loved the story and Greg Capullo's art is stunning.
I think for a good bit of people it’s not that they don’t like the top down shot but more that they are afraid of spoilers if they haven’t read those issues yet. I personally really like the top down. Maybe timestamp a spoiler and spoiler-free section for those viewers?
I am thinking maybe the right option is somewhere in the middle. Have B-roll of the book all the angles, and some overhead shot, but not have it be the entire thing.
