Thank you for this! I’m 51yrs old and going to take my Nbcot cota exam for the 1st time tomorrow. I have so much self-doubt in my ability to pass. Dunno if it’s my age or what is causing me to feel that way but this video spoke volumes to me. Thank you so much!!!
all the visual cues you are giving are great including the cutting of hair 2-3 inches for 2-3 years that's awesome Im bald so I would've never thought of that lol
Wow. I wonder if Miss Jamie OT could publish that research retrospectively? At least an article in the OT magazine if she hasn’t already done one. Really valuable! ❤
Is there any possibility if I could work with you and learn things n your precious experienced knowledge, from which country you are n what is the requirement to come to your country n practice as an ot.
OT MIRI, I am on OTA student, and have began studying for the NBCOT. I plan to take the exam in the fall, and your videos have helped me so much! Thank you so much for being an additional resource during my OT journey!
This video was so sweet and insightful! I'm considering becoming a school based OTA and was wondering how that OTA experience might differ from that of the OT. I will continue to do my own research on this and hopefully find some shadowing/volunteer opportunities. Anyway, thank you for sharing~
Thank you so much Monica! I do hope he could appreciate this video as much as I enjoyed making it. Sometimes I wonder if he'll watch this video and be mortified... I guess time will tell. I'm just hope and pray that he will see my heart and my passion, and get inspired to follow a path that ignites his heart. Thank you for studying with us!
Less than 2 weeks out from my exam and I felt like I was hitting a wall tonight, I decided to take a break from practice tests to watch this video and your kind encouraging spirit gave me so much hope again! I appreciate all the work you do, you have helped so many. You are a very special individual Miri! I am incredibly grateful for the care and consideration you put into your videos <3
Thanks, Miri for being our amazing OT who is enabling us like a client to effectively engage in studying during the prep exam period. Hope to have more people like you in the world.
i ruptured 5 extensor tendons on what would be zone 9 (where there are more muscles - upper outer forearm) and kept imobilized for about 1 month, im now 2 weeks without the cast and into PT for about 6 sessions, doing daily. my hand is 24/7 in a plank state, like straight from palm to fingers. and i cant really bend my fingers (only like 10% ROM at best), after that it feels like blocked to go further. same goes for my wrist up or down movement which is even worse. what do you think about my experience? please answer, doctor, i'm so afraid
I cut my pinky finger pretty bad and had to get tendon surgery and even tho your injury sounds a bit worse than mine it was really about patience and doing whatever exercises you gotta do daily. My surgery happened November 15 so it’s been a couple months but I’m still tryna get my full range of motion back in my pinky but my PT said it could take up to a year for my injury to “fully” heal and even then it might not ever be the same.
I was at the same place as you tho where after the surgery I could barely move pinky in anyway. I’m pretty sure that’s because of the scar tissue and that’s what the exercises that were probably given to you are for.
Miri you're the most beautiful soul !!! your videos give good vibes always!! I love you! This video is just the motivation I needed I didn't pass my 1st attempt of the NBCIT exam. And I felt really sad, but I feel better now and determine to keep fighting for my blessing!!! It's hard to accept that I didn't pass but this will just make me stronger. If there any advice or guidance for my second of the test you can provide I greatly appreciate it! I trust your knowledge!
Hello Miri! I wanted to share that after taking the exam 3 times I found out I passed today! Thankyou for your encouragement and study tools which I have been using this entire journey studying for the NBCOT. Your teachings are phenomenal and you are truly inspiring. I am officially a COTA!! 😃🙏
Congratulations Mishion! I'm so happy to hear you passed the exam!! It was ultimately *your* relentless dedication, hard work and commitment that brought you to this point and you should be so proud of yourself for breaking through the all the barriers to reach this achievement. This is just the beginning for you my friend and I pray that God will bring you to the people, places and experiences that will allow you to express and live out your highest potential. Congratulations again!
Hi Miri, I found your video while researching stroke information after my close friend had a stroke last week at only 39yo. Would you happen to have gone to school at RB in Southern California?
Oh my goodness, ANGIE! Wow, I'm not going to disclose here how long it's been, haha, but suffice it to say it has been a LONG TIME! How have you been? Are you still in Southern California? I've been thinking a lot about RB lately and how it all feels like a blink of an eye. In so many ways, I still feel like the same Miri Lee from RB! Anyway, what a small world that we would reconnect like this. So happy to hear from you!!!
Thank you for all your videos I passed NBCOT OTR exam on my first try with your knowledge! I subscribed and liked this video and am so grateful for all the info you share with us all 🤩
aww that's really great news and I'm so happy to hear it! Congratulations!! And thank you so much for having shared this journey with me and my little one. I hope you stay in touch. Congratulations again and I wish you only the best as you begin this next chapter of your OT journey!
I have a post flexor injury and I’ve had surgery on my predominant hand little finger my finger feels useless and I can’t straighten my finger anymore. It’s making my normally strong hand feel weak. Do you have any suggestions pl😢ease
Do you not have physical therapy? They should have gave you exercises and maybe even putty for that finger. We have the same injury both in our dominant hand and pinky but you should be doing hand exercises multiple times a day so that your finger doesn’t get stiff from the scar tissue.
Hi, Miri! I just wanted to drop in and say I passed the NBCOT on my first attempt! A tremendous thank you for all of your educational videos and study notes. You were a big part of my success! Wishing you and your family the best! 😊
Thank you for remembering me and coming back here to share this good news! These are the kind of comments that confirm in my spirit that the work and love I poured into these videos are not in vain. Thank you for having shared this journey with me. Please stay in touch and say hi to me if you ever see me at the AOTA conference! Congratulations on this epic achievement!!! Now go celebrate!!!
Hey I had a doubt regarding flexor tendon injury post op 7 weeks, the client presented with stiffness and their dip is in semiflexed position and why is that and how can I intervene it?
Hi Miri, I know it's been awhile, but as a mother of two, who shared the same syndrome as you, I would like to offer the idea of environmental adaptation. There are breastfeeding pillows that release the need to constantly hold the baby in a static posture. It's also help with the shoulder and back pain, that sometimes come along. Thank you for another amazing video.
You are so sweet. Thank you for sharing your tips and knowledge, but more so, your care and concern. I was smiling ear to ear while going through your comments in this video as well as the one you left on my SCI video. We may have never met, but I felt so connected to you. So thank you for taking a moment to connect with me and share your heart and support!
This video is amazing, the visuals are great! Thank you Miri for putting so much effort and creativity in making your videos. I'm studding for the board exam and I'm thankful for your talent of explaining concepts in a way that's easy to understand. God bless you!
I'm so thankful for people like you! Thank you for your encouragement, support and love. I really appreciate all the words of love you sprinkled throughout these videos. Wish I could give you a hug!
@@MiriLee I have no doubt we'll meet one day and then I'll remind you your wish! In the last couple of months you have been my go-to person and virtual friend, and I cherish and appreciate you! This week for my board exam, I'm going to take a mental image of you with me: your caring thoughtful energy, your bright super professional eyes and your smile with witty-silly sense of humor (who encourage me to stand up and dance with you) 😀
I'm sure you're told this a million times, but you're content is so helpful. I'm on the last semester in an OTA program at Eastwick College and go to full clinicals in April. You've helped me a lot. Thanks Miri, and God bless.
Aww, thank you for not clicking away, but taking a moment to connect with me to express your thanks, love and support. It means a lot to me, truly. I read each and every comment and am moved by them all.
