Another way that I remeber the difference between Broca's and Wernicke's aphasia is by associating Broca with the Spanish word "Boca" meaning mouth. In my head I think we express ourselves with our mouth therefore "expressive aphasia." Hope that helps someone out there!

Thank you so much for this video. I had an acquired brain injury 2010 at the age of fifteen (ruptured AVM) and I lost my ability to speak completely but could understand what everyone around me was saying which I now know is Broca's Aphasia and you're right - it IS frustrating not being able to properly communicate, speaking from personal experience. I have since gone on to earn a B.A. in English but found that my true calling is OT. I will be taking my NBCOT COTA exam in August and your videos have been very helpful.

But I can tell you that this is the best way to recover and get my spirit back because this news gave me all the positive energy and love I needed to get myself back up! @@MiriLee thank you so much! I actually accepted a job offer before my board exam! I'm working at a small pediatric clinic that specializes in ASD! And I'll be running weekly positive engagement sessions with people living in group homes! I'm SO EXCITED. I just had my first official treatment session as an OTRL today and my heart is bursting with happiness!!!! 🥰☺️🥰☺️🥰
