Has anyone has heard of SPECTRAL? this this film non-directly touch on the description and weaknesses, of spirits like faeries, and astral-body of witches and revenants (Alp, Boo hag, Obour, ect.) who a big part behind the inspiration of modern werewolfs and vampires.
Very good, honest review. Seem to be familiar with the source material, unlike the rest of the YT reviewers. Was hoping for a faithful adaptation, particularly how Barlow and Straker are portrayed.
I loved this series and couldn’t wait but before then came a lot of series endings that made me pause and not pay. I’m piecing it together now and it seems like the same disappointment.
Love the book and like the 1979 version and the Sam Fuller one, I was really hoping this would be even better, I haven’t seen it yet but if what you’ve said true I’ll be very disappointed.
The Rob Love was trash. Original TV mini series by Tobe Hooper is just the ultimate horror movie. Nothing better than this one...and Barlow..he is just iconic.
Dr headwood brought that soldier back to life. Remember when he told headwood that she could experiment on the dead soldier when they were touring new eden after they gassed the town. And headwood had been carrying her husbands shoes after he died of the flu that killed several other characters, like both the Australians. But it was very odd how they just skipped over headwood bringing a soldier back to life. No explanation, no build up etc etc. Thank you again for a awesome video
The 1979 vampire kids at the window scared the sh** out of me. I just saw images of the 2024 Salem's Lot vampire kids at the window, and they don't scare me at all. They look like some sort of ghost thing you'd find in an animated Disney cartoon movie.
How did you feel about the rob lo version of the window scene..take movie out of it and give me your opinion on it..thanks I enjoyed your comment you seem to know what you're talking about..I listen to or read intelligent comments.
@@FreeLunchFreddy You know something, I actually don't think the Rob Lowe 2004 version was all that bad. There were some very scary scenes, one of which is the bus scene. Regarding the 2004 vampire kids at the window, less scary than 1979, more scary than 2024.
1979 is my favorite vampire movie ever. The rob Lowe one doesn't even look interesting. This new I'm going to watch because I've been waiting for it. The cast looks typical Hollywood. The book and movie (79) are my second favorite Stephen King works.
@Shane-fd5es I liked it too, found it quite haunting when it first aired on TV. True, it wasn't perfect (leaving that one vampire alive after killing like ten others, at least two children) but I found it resonated with me. I actually think Salem's Lot could be made into an 8-episode miniseries if given the chance. But it would require someone who really understood the story. I'm thinking Mike Flanagan, but then again he already made Midnight Mass. I gotta check out Chapelwaite. Know where I can stream it?
Without getting super geeky about this, if he had been going 70x speed of light for the entire trip of about 140 light years, it would have taken 2 years. However, the scientist just says that the spacecraft was "capable of going *up to* 70x speed of light", implying that its probably going slower much of the time. So, my interpretation is that for most of the voyage they are going much slower (something like 1./7 th the speed of light or slower), and maybe some times going much faster for some reason. I have completely ignored here whether or not it is even possible to go 70x the speed of light. It could be that the actor misremembered the script, which could have actually said 1/7th, but the director and producer decided to stick with the error?
That’s the one thing with Rod and Twilight Zone is a lot of stuff they did was super interesting and thought provoking. Space travel and distance was not one of those lol.
Thank you but no thank you. If Stephen King says this movie is really good then I'm good. Y'all going to movies with stupid expectations and then y'all try to bash the movies. I wish that the movie would have came out before anybody reviewed it because you guys really suck.
Then you kind of need to stop watching reviews of movies or anything at this point. Stephen King has said a lot of things are good and have been terrible. Maybe think about why people are saying it is bad before coming on and getting angry at everyone who doesn’t agree with you.
@@MovieEmporium so now the movie is terrible and I'm entitled to my opinion. Just like you're entitled to your dumbass one. I don't need to get mad at anybody because at the end of the day I'm going to still support the movie. Still watch it. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King. This is my favorite book out of any book that Stephen King has written. I've waited for this movie for 3 years. You guys want some groundbreaking something new. It's a vampire. You're fucking 40 or 50 years old. You pretty much have seen everything there is to see from a vampire movie grow up!
Stephen king has been saying the last pet cemetery was the best thing he ever watched, and also loved IT Chapter 2. Every time he supports a movie based on his books more ppl will watch it and more residual money will go into his pockets
Salem's Lot is my absolute favorite novel by Stephen King. I was disappointed in both movie versions. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give the 1979 version a 5. I would give the 2004 version a 6 because it was a bit more faithful to the book than the first one. Both films had their frightening moments but both were weak adaptations. If the 2024 version is at least more faithful to the source material I'll be happy. I'm not expecting anything spectacular.
Have you watched the trailer? From that alone you can clearly see it doesn’t stay faithful to the book 🙄 Tobe Hooper’s adaption remains supreme, actually improving on the book with its (imo) characterisation choice for Barlow
Thank you!!!! I watched this episode 3x trying to figure out the significance of useless scenes… there is no explanation for the possible robot Wilford, nor for the hesitation when giving Nema a gun, nor for who’s he gonna shoot, who’s he gonna shoot, who’s he gonna shoot?! Why did they use animated (Bambi-style animation) flowers at the end? …so many questions they created 🤔
@@flygopher The only season that didn't end on some kind of animation is Season 3, but I think that the last few seconds of the rocket explosion might've gone animated there, but I'm not a hundred percent sure.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I think the show ended where it needed to, and that's only a good thing. The ending was great and I'm glad they came to a good (albeit classic) ending, we couldn't have asked for a better one.
The most disappointing thing about season four is that it was AMC. They usually make good shows. I don't know why they bothered to save it for this. Oh well, on to the next show. Thanks for the review!
There was supposed to be more seasons, but TNT abruptly canceled the show after shooting this season. They abruptly canceled ALL of their scriped shows actually, not just this one. AMC simply took what was already there and aired it, although I read that they reshot a few things to make it work which is why there's stuff missing like an explanation for Rat's resurrection. The exact same sort of thing happened to Star Trek Prodigy Season 2. Ironically enough, both shows featured Daveed Diggs.
I felt for Remi. I've had a close friend who decided to just start ghosting me. Not calling anymore. Barely taking my calls. Always "busy". Denied anything was up. Wouldn't tell me what the problem was. It's a slow death and there is a lot of despair. Eventually I said "I no longer consider you a friend of mine" and he replied "well if that's how you feel." Horrible thing, but it happens.
While it's not perfect, I like the movie a lot for having such a high level of representation among the cast and crew. I wish it had more recognition and strong box office numbers.
I just watched it on Hulu, and agree with you 100%. The only thing I did not agree with was you made it sound like because he is Ray Romano, he can do anything he wants, like direct a film for the first time. I have a feeling that even Ray Romano has to work hard to get the financial backing to make a film that he co-wrote and direct. Still, great review, but it's hard not to say that when I agree with you. This is not a Hallmark Channel family, even when Hallmark tries to make the family dynamic realistic (messy).
To be fair I probably worded it wrong. But he has a lot of pull similar to Jerry Seinfeld with unfrosted. He can have something like this greenlit easier than most people.
The review was short but you hit all the main points I feel. Was definitely nice to see them hang out together before the upcoming battle. I’m just so confused with Sam- like I know he’s a badass but his story is kind of unbelievable? And i don’t want him to turn against his friends. Ahh we’ll see
I understand the appeal this movie has, and I am definitely in the minority, but for me it didn’t click. The witty, wacky humour I enjoyed in the original seemed to be replaced by gross-out gags and shock humour. I also found the story incredibly overstuffed, underdeveloped and boring. Michael Keaton was awesome, the cast was great, and I loved the effects and set designs. As a whole though, I was disappointed. Great review!
That’s fair, it has its share of problems for sure, especially the music. I guess I didn’t expect much from it and it ended up surprising me. But yeah nothing will compare to the original, not with the current Tim Burton era.
The "who dies" suspense of oncoming danger is very (bad) comic book. I want them to tell us the story of the battle, not the boring shock-value headlines. Now, in the aftermath when the enemies are defeated, if they have learned that the bubble they're in will definitely collapse in a number of months and they have to decide to die with the land or get back on the train and start circling the globe again - that I would respect as a series finale. It's not only bleak as hell, it's realistic. Or did you imagine everything would work out hunky dory for the last few hundred members of the human race? Let them struggle with the decision. Then, let THEM decide whether they're going to live or die. Some are just done, and would rather leave the world than spend more years in a tin can, postponing the inevitable. Others choose to live, maybe just on the vanishing chance the ice age will end, or just because they'd rather keep on keepin' on. Oh, and the last line would be "Snowpiercer... 27 cars long."
Maybe Wilfred’s cigarette had some sort of heart stopping drug in it and he’ll wake up eventually? 🤷🏻 Also I was watching Jennifer Connelly in the show Dark Matter a while back and that might have been the reason she could only make a few episodes for this season of Snowpiercer
I remember seeing that movie poster alot growing up, and was always a fan of Hayden, but never got around to it. Until last year a friend of mine, told me about it, so I finally watched it. And I have watched it like 5 times already. I have shown friends it, and they enjoy it.
