Really enjoyed this video, wales does have a quite good bus service to be fair. I often buy 1bws tickets when I go on days out from my home in North Wales, fantastic value!
I have just spent a good hour or so planning with a completely different start location and *think* I've managed to find another 14 county scenario - I wonder with enough planning if you could nab a 15th. I certainly couldn't, but it's pretty plain to see if anybody could on local bus networks then you're the man for the job. My route started in Lutterworth, Leicester leaving at 6am and finished arriving in Grays, Essex at about 10:30pm, with no way to make it to Suffolk before the 6am deadline and no way to sneak into counties that just missed out on route (Leics, Warks, Northants, Bucks, Beds, Herts, GL, Berks, Hamps, Surrey, West Sus, East Sus, Kent and Essex was my route and couldn't find a way to sneak WM or Oxs in en route). I've more than likely rushed the planning for this but it just begs the question, can you beat this?
Very impressed by this. I managed to find one other 14 route (starting similar to the one in the video but ending up in Burton-upon-Trent. I like how you managed to get that last minute hop across the Dartford Crossing in there! I really struggle to beat 14, but that’s not to say it isn’t possible…

Deutsche Bahn always ruins travel challenges! I think you could even get slightly further east than Chełm in theory, to Terespol (a suburb of Belarusian Brest but on the other side of the Bug River) by using: Greenwich 0947-1013 St Pancras Int'l (Thameslink) St Pancras Int'l 1104-1405 Bruxelles-Midi (Eurostar) Bruxelles-Midi 1425-1615 Koeln Hbf (ICE) Koeln Hbf 1645-2114 Berlin Ostbahnhof (ICE) Berlin Ostbahnhof 2122-2126 Berlin Ostkreuz (S-Bahn) Berlin Ostkreuz 2133-2255 Kostrzyn (RE) Kostrzyn 0056-0651 Warszawa Wschodnia (Intercity) Warszawa Wschodnia 0709-0906 Terespol (Skaryna) While far from the 24-hour mark, the journey would likely stop there due to the current geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe...
Interesting - excellent planning there! Can’t be bothered to go back and work out if something has changed in the timetables since last year to make your route possible, so I’ll just assume it was there and I missed it! Has to be said, those connections in Berlin are a little tight, given your correct statement about DB….
Thank you for taking me back to Paris. I loved every minute of the trip and felt 14 again! School trips are so special. Your gentle narrative and beautiful choice of music is so relaxing. Keep travelling and exploring please. 🎉
I have just watched your trip across Northern Ireland and really enjoyed it. I know so much more now about that beautiful place. I even got my old map out to follow your route! I'm glad you weren't sitting beside the smashed window. Thank you. 🎉
I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. She would be so proud of you for the joy (and masochistic inspiration!) that you give to so many of us who are filled with wanderlust and know that adventures can take place right on our doorsteps. Sending you much love and gratitude.
This is lovely stuff, maith an fear. I spent the latter quarter of 2023 in Maynooth, Ireland and travelled almost entirely by rail during my time there. I've been missing Ireland lately and this was a great bit of nostalgia. I spent many a late night dashing through Connolly Station to catch the last train home! Also, as an Irish-American who has dealt with some stunning ignorance from British acquaintances about Irish history, I was thoroughly impressed by your command of the subject. Excellent work all around, a chara.
Congratulation's; 14 counties( inc City of London) in 24 hours; And brave Mrs Turtle travelling through the night in and around London; Very interesting; It was lovely to see the Horse & Cart in Horsham' Now I'm from The North East, and I have visited Horsham a few times; It was wonderful to be reminded of when Zeus, my beloved German Shepherd(Passed in 2012) had his photo taken in that very cart; Is he the only Dog that has ever sat in that cart; Wonderful to watch your adventures;
The English gave up against Ireland but left us with the live grenade of treaty politics. We should've outright rejected it but they dangled enough rope to hang ourselves with. Here's to a United Ireland soon and put a rest to horrible centuries of oppression.
Nicely made video but just as a little feedback can you slow down your reading of your script or make it a little less wordy? Your slight speech impediment can make the dialogue difficult to follow at times.
Why didn't you get the bus to letterkenny from the airport then letterkenny to malin head. You could have actually traveled from Killarney to Galway to letterkenny rather than Derry-Lderry then on to Buncranna to malin head.
G'day ,you've just popped up as a recommendation ,I have to say I enjoyed your channel ,you obviously do your homework and are very informative. I look forward to watching your other videos. 🇦🇺
A really great video of a journey with some beautiful and extraordinary scenery along the way. Having visited some of the places on the journey over the years I really enjoyed the video from start to finish.
