What A'm I missing Banquet Masters? nice Sam Mcdowell !!!! that's funny you showing the most viewed card 73 Gehrig? nice Sam Mcdowell card Only 1 question have you everbeen to the real Cheers the one in the City of Boston? if so what did you think about that place?
I thought this was going to be a meeting with you and Sam Malone... Ted Danson. 😅 I did not know the character was based on Sam McDowell, though. That is really interesting.
Super cool Hugo! Thats cool to get the auto in person! It’s cool to see his cards at the show with him sitting right there! Great cheers connection too, and with matching audio to close it out! You’re the man Hugo!!!
Oh man, Hugo...that was so great. I had never heard that it was McDowell the character of Sam Malone was based on. I was a big fan as a teen, and I definitely remember he could really bring it to the plate. Also loved your ending. I don't remember seeing that episode before, but that's classic. Well done my friend.
Yeah that was a fun show to watch even as a kid. Now that I watch reruns it’s even better than I remember. I also get a kick out of getting these old school guys autographs in person. They actually like talking to the fans and have some wild stories to tell. Thanks for checking it out, Drew
Hey Hugo! Cheers is one of my all time favorite sitcoms. It’s on my Mt. Rushmore of Sitcoms. They sure don’t make opening songs for shows like that anymore. What a legend for waiting for that ink to dry. So cool he was your first in person for your set. Congrats, Hugo. It was a lot of fun to watch. Loved the photo with him as well. Good experience for you guys.
Awesome that you got to meet Sam McDowell and really cool that you got the Ted Williams Co. card signed! McDowell is a great guy and had a really interesting life, Bernie Carbo credits McDowell with helping him overcome his demons with drugs and alcohol! I guess you like to sing! LOL! Second time I’m hearing it this week! 😂😂
Yeah boy🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Sudden Sam, how awesome is that! I love hearing about guys who pull themselves out of their struggles. I just watched 2 episodes of Cheers the other day. Norm and Cliff remind me of the Mega Collectors! I had to watch this twice so I could get my vocals ready for the second go around! You were crooning! Thought you might have had Gary Portnoy record a sound bite while getting Sam’s card auto’d! Love that binder and that you’re working on getting as many of the set signed as you can. Shouted an extra 🎉 when you slide Sam into his spot at the bar. Woooooo!
Yeah I thought it was pretty cool that he was based off a real player. I always thought it was of a Red Sox guy but Sam McDowell makes sense. Thanks for watching!
Great share here Hugo. Man I absolutely love Cheers. I still watch it when i get the free time and am not in the mood to watch football or sports, etc.... Nice that you knocked out another card in the Ted Williams set signed. Always enjoy my friend and thanks for sharing with us.
😆 I’ve been singing that song a long time but it has never sounded as good as this time lol so you don’t want to hear all the other times I’ve sung it! Thanks for sticking with it until the end, Jason. I appreciate you watching!
Hey Hugo! That’s great your first movie was the Goonies. Mine was Home Alone. More known for starting lineups, haha. A Fred McGriff Fleer did make a cameo. Although not featured like the Goonies. Ralphie in “A Christmas Story” has two T206 and a 1940 Play Ball on his headboard. Just another movie that’s probably been watched billions of times. Fun video. It definitely got me thinking about other movies and shows that have baseball cards. Hope all is well!
Love the Goonies, but I never realized it was the 73 Gehrig. I always assumed they just copied a Goudey or something. Amazing find. I love the '54 Aaron in Sandlot. Not nearly as popular as the Goonies, but when Babe takes it and says, "Henry Aaron. I don't know why, but can I take this, kid?" always gave me a chuckle.
It must be warmer than 74 degrees and colder than 72 degrees since you are inside today. I might have to do a VR for you Hugo. I think I have another card in mind. I have never seen Goonies by the way.
@@CleanCheapShots as soon as it hit that sweet spot of 73 I went outside to finish the video 😄 A VR? I’d love to see what you have in mind. The Goonies is a worldwide hit so you got your work cut out for you. I don’t know if you’d like the movie. It’s great for kids and nostalgia if you watched it back in the day. Kids still like it today so it continues to be popular
With a 14 year old I get to watch it on a regular basis 😄 I still enjoy it though and now I paid attention to the card in that scene. Thanks for checking it out, Jim!
It's not the T 206 Wagner when card shows came around nobody really had that card for sale , it's not the 1989 the other Ken Griffey his card hasn't been around long enough , I was thinking could it be the Ty Cobb or C Young what about these cards the 1968 Ryan , 1968 Bench 1969 Mr. October, 1975 Brett , 1973 Mike Schmidt.? cards of the 40's didn't make it there were a few that did but not all of them. could be a 50's card.
@@marksantucci4230 I think those are all great cards. Very popular indeed and giants in the hobby. I was thinking mainstream..cards that have been seen by the masses. This is the best one I could come up with. I think the age of the Cobb and Young helps with all the different generations that have been seeing them. Great thoughts, Mark. Thanks for sharing
Wait, you’re telling me that the Gehrig card has been seen by more people than the 1988 Topps Matt Nokes at my local antique mall that has been in the same spot in the same case from the same seller for 15 years all because he has a sticker price on it if $45 firm?! Wow, that is an iconic card!!!
That was a giant card…man in 1988! I used to go crazy when I pulled it in a pack. Dude at the antique store knows the feeling so he’s not parting with it that easy. $45 is a fair price and ensures that tens and tens of people set their eyes upon that classic for years to come!
This does not win- I’ve never even seen this movie. Kids today aint seen this movie- I have kids all the time recognize my Sandlot stuff 🤪 RIP to Mr. Mertle, James Earl Jones- a 🐐
@@LegendsNeverDieCollection lol that’s because they’re baseball kids, they better watch the Sandlot! Wait, you’ve never watched the Goonies!? Now that’s rare…like a Mangini pickup level rare 😄 I still have to go with the Goonies. Goonies never say die..and neither does the movie
@@LegendsNeverDieCollection I know…that’s a much better line…Legends Never Die 👊 Come to think of it, I quote the Sandlot more. Better lines for sure…. Still gonna go with the Goonies and Lou Gehrig though 😆
That would have been cool if the card was one with a Pittsburgh Pirate 🏴☠️ player on it. Also, in the 1995 movie Casper, his prized treasure was a Duke Snider signed baseball.
You’re right! That would have been perfect! I’ll have to check out the Casper movie. I never watched that one. Thanks for letting me know and I appreciate you watching the video.
I did not see that coming, Hugo! My two pics were the mantle and Griffey Junior cards. And the Andre Dawson 1989 top Cubs Card was my third place guess🤣
😄 great guesses! With so many great directors and movies coming out of Chicago, we may just see the Dawson in the big screen someday. I know you’ll do your part to spread its fame, Jason! Thanks for watching
Hugo, your videos are awesome man!! Love the music in the background love the info about Jackie Robinson and Rachael Robinson! I also love seeing the fields in the towns where these events happened! Good luck on the Jackie 53 Topps!!!
I like the call outs/references to wrestling. Whenever I mention the WWE, I am ignored or ridiculed, but they are firing on all cylinders, and they're going to make the move to Netflix in January!
Really!? I didn’t know about the Netflix deal. You’re right, Andrew. They know what they’re doing over there and have been for a while. A lot of my friends and I use wrestling references when talking to each other. It’s fun having guys around that understand it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
@@signsofthepastime Yep. I'm sure you have heard by now the Vince McMahon Network special. Now that should be interesting. Please do a review and share your thoughts. I promise I'll watch it!
Hugo, such a great idea for a video. If I would have been asked what movie showed that 73 Gehrig card, I would have been stomped. I vaguely remember it though as over the years, any shows, movies, or songs like Chicago's "Old Days" that spoke of baseball cards peaked my interest. Nice job.
