I would like to share my passion for historical fencing with you. In this channel you will find lots of ideas for your own interpretations and fencing styles. I always try to be conform to the source, but still be practically applicable. My interpretations are not set in stone and therefore change from time to time. This channel can be your inspiration and I would be happy if you follow me on my journey through this wonderful art.

planning to make my own Webtoon, where the regressed broken princess chooses a halberd over a typical sword, will the demos in this video be enough? are all these battle stances?

Hi. I have bought a kriegsmesser Just yesterday. It is very blunt and the point is folded in in itself. I have been looking for solo drills to praktice. Thank you for your content. I did not realise Just how physically fit one has to be to use a sword for any length of time. How would melee fighters manage their energy in a battle?

Noobs use gravity to get a swing, normals use their own force (like japan).

If it's shorter than you then just call it a claymore or longsword? The greatsword should be your height if not 1-2+ inches taller?

Sorry to say, but you're doing it all wrong. Zornhut isn’t just a static position to start an attack from; it’s part of a circular motion. Think about this: go from a bind to nebenhut rechts, then to zornhut, and finally to vomtag and langort. This creates a smooth, circular strike that can be done on either side. When you go from the bind to nebenhut, it’s straightforward, but when you transition to zornhut, you shift your weight to your back leg. From zornhut, you can then move back to the center with vomtag and strike by stepping forward or shifting your weight. These aren’t four separate stances; they’re just different steps in one fluid strike. Also, forget about those exaggerated, theatrical moves; they’re just the result of poor drawing skills from the medieval artists who didn’t understand anatomy well.

Hi, Björn, thank you for the unique and great content. Could you please tell me how you found these pictoral sources of XIII cen. that depictes bardiches? Funny thing is, i'm doing my little research on western european polearms of High Middle Ages, the earliest stuff, and while i found quite a lot of good images, i haven't seen like almost all of your pictures)

for plow/phlug I noticed you have your arms out quite a bit, almost to your knees. I Naturally do that sometimes (or maybe something different that I don't realize), but I often get hand sniped from that position. What is told to me, and what looks like is occurring in depictions, is that the hands are kept tightly to the hips. What is your opinion on that? Is one method more proper in your opinion? Also, is Vom Tag not so popular in HEMA because of helmets? I have trouble even with ox when in full gear

I think this wasn't a weapon for warfare. I think this could have been a good weapon for maybe city guards or unarmored nobles for duel. People always look for "lethality" of a weapon but they forgot that there are certain scenarios where you might not want a lethal weapon. If a city guard is dealing with a drunken guy who's causing problem whacking him with a flail like this at moderate force on the leg might be enough to discourage him from fighting. If 2 nobles dueling to settle an issue and they might not want to kill each other they could just use flails. they hit each other and it hurts but they won't kill. Same goes for knights. if the Noble don't want to lose their talented knights who's training cost a lot they might just be given these weapons.
20 дней назад
@@arx5638 Good points! Especially the Guard one. I spoke about that also in another vid. On the other side the flail was of course used to some extent in the Hussite Wars as a military weapon. In addition you can see the weapon really often in military uprising in contemporary art. Im pretty sure the flail is versatile enough to serve both contexts - lethal and unlethal :)

I dont know if the reason to use right hand in the back is the same ( using my little experience ). If we want precision to thrust the weapon, the right hand in the back is batter. Its just like a billiard game.

It is something that functions sorta like a great sword that would fit under a jacket. I don't think that's particularly useful over other options for self defence for period appropriate use, but I think that's neat.

Freundlichst, Mike.
25 дней назад
