I notice you drive wth the seat shoulder belt under your arm...why is that? is that a new safety method?
@Chadscarcomps
@Chadscarcomps 11 дней назад
I was forced to do that while videoing because the seat belt was causing interference with my Bluetooth microphone. The seatbelt kept rubbing on it and causing issues. I don’t normally drive like that. 😀. You are the second one to point that out.

If you enjoy driving at all get the Honda. The Toyota RAV4?is one of the least refined worst driving cars I have ever driven. The Mazda CX5 is better than these two cars to be honest. The seats suck in all three so don’t expect luxury.

Tesla owners may (or may not) be surprised to know that their range takes a big hit if they frequently take advantage of quick starts and rapid changes. I'm not sure how many pay as much attention to that, as they would to mpg in the CR-V. I point it out because the CR-V (more so than the RAV4) really is an EV. Not a Battery EV like the Tesla, but a Battery+Generator EV. Except when cruising on the highway, it is propelled exclusively by an electric motor which is powered by the generator and the battery. My point is that the EV operation means it takes the same hit for quick starts. Honda's response to that, since it is an economy-minded vehicle, is to actually build a lag into quick starts. You can get rid of them by changing to SPORT mode, but that can drop mpg. I'm not saying it will become like a sports car, but you will get better acceleration if you choose it. You just need to be attentive to "squeeze" the gas pedal, instead of stomping on it, when you don't need EV-like response. In my Accord Hybrid - 2018, so I can't configure these drive modes - I will switch temporarily to SPORT if I anticipate the need. Like on the ramp to a busy freeway.

No spare tire, old infotainment and non-locking gas door is a fail for the CRV for me.
@moannaleesa523
@moannaleesa523 Месяц назад
You forgot to mention that the rear seats in the CRV recline and the back door opens 90 degrees for better access to the back seat.

I drove a Rav4 and then popped straight into a CRV 10 min later. There was no comparison in overall feel, fit and finish. The CRV made the Rav4 seem cheap even though they are almost exactly the same price in Canada. I am not sure why so many see the lack of spare a deal breaker. In 50 years of driving I have had exactly one flat and that one could have been handled with a flat fixer kit. Maybe the roads in Canada are better than in the US.

Made the dealer buy a full size 18 inch spare kit from Amazon (has a cover and jack that fits inside the wheel and just set it in the cargo area, it is narrower than a regular tire so does not take up much space.

I looked at both, but ended up buying the Accord. I don't care about Leather and the smaller screen doesn't bother me. The Civic are definitely more in demand. I got a slightly used 2024 Accord with 7K miles for over $6K off MSRP and $3K less than the equivalent Civic. The one thing I admit not being a fan of are seat comfort for both cars. I rented a Nissan Altima earlier and they had some amazing seats.

Toyota Australia is cheating customers on map upgrades. I bought my RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid in 2021. My average annual mileage is around 10,000 km. Given the low mileage there is no great rush on my part to do the annual service which I normally do within a month from each anniversary date. During the service I have the free map upgrade (customers are entitled for 3 map upgrades free). However on my 3rd anniversary service, Toyota refused to give me the 3rd free map upgrade. After a couple of lengthy discussions with Toyota Customer Service I was told that I am not entitled for the 3rd free map upgrade as I have gone pass the 3rd anniversary date by a few weeks. This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.

The Santa Fe has the style and flash, but the Pilot is the better made vehicle and NOBODY makes better engines than Honda. Twenty years from now, the Pilot will still be on the road. I doubt the same will be said for the Santa Fe.

You didn't cover one of the most important features of the odyssey... The Magic Slide second row! This is why ppl with kids get this van. You really got a lot wrong with this review. First of all don't compare a 3 yr old top of the line to a brand new basic model. Then make sure you get your facts right before you review. This was a pretty awful excuse of a review. Using floaty for an adjective to describe how the sienna drives? We love our odyssey but you didn't do it justice.

I've test driven both, but my final decision goes to the RAV4, as the CR-V has only the GDI engine & the RAV4 has the GDI AND Port Injection engine. The difference IS that the RAV4 port injection cleans the engine valves & the CR-4 does not. It will be more prone to carbon build-up which is NOT covered by the warranty. The other major factor is the availability of the spare & extra storage space under the rear cargo area of the RAV4. Although the CR-V is more refined & elegant, & has the electric passenger seats, the RAV4 is way more practical & dependable.

you must absolutely add following options to the odyssey: awd. pano-roof. 360-cam. timing chain. (no timing belt get rid of it) slow-traffic follow feature. built-in vacuum cleaner must be returned to the car. light-off-roading pack option. (with high clearance and some other off-roading features) also needed a additional extra front and other lights females have trouble to see at night (in comparison to men this is biology thing) and vans are driven by many females.

@@Chadscarcomps Toyota doesn't report changes unless they are significant. For example 2021 probably doesn't have lighted switches while 2023 does. 2021 also has replaceable cabin LEDs but they are dim. Starting in 2023 LEDs are soldered to the boards and much brighter. There are other changes that are not very visible.

@sushi8204 with most Toyota dealerships charging over MSRP, the savings that should normally come with a hybrid no longer exist. Honda will negotiate with MSRP and you get leather seats in their base model. Both are good options, but the overall Honda Odyssey and experience is much better.

Looked at both, love the performance of the Honda V6 but gas mileage was horrible (16-17) when driving around in city traffic. In highway driving we only saw it improve to 22mpg. Living in Southwest we found the Honda has horrible ventilation in 2nd and 3rd rows because they no longer have ceiling vents. Driving the Sienna around was very comparable to Honda at lower speeds but feels a little sluggish when trying to accelerate to higher speeds however still adequate, definitely not at sporty as Odyssey. However, city driving showed between 36 and 40 mpg while cruising in traffic, incredible mpg. We ultimately went with 2023 Sienna Limited and have loved it so far over past year of ownership. Overall MPG for city and highway we have averaged 37mpg. Performance has been just fine out of hybrid engine and Toyota warranties the Hybrid battery system for 10 yrs or 150k miles. Average replacement for hybrid battery is around 200k. Great vehicle so far but can't deny the performance of the Odyssey V6.
