The Sienna has one huge advantage in MPG but three giant knocks against it in my book which are that the middle row isn't designed to come out, that in top trims you are limited to 7 passengers instead of 8, and that you can't get them without a long wait and/or a big markup. The markups mean that even with the better MPG, you may never recoup the cost difference with the Odyssey which can be had for thousands less in equivalent trim levels. For me the middle seat situation in top trims is a deal breaker. I need 8 people and I need sometimes to take out the seats.

Toyota is killing the competition and it is because you get 36 MPG in the city and honda gets 17... not even close dude. Not to mention the AWD is only available on a sienna. There is a reason they have been sold out for 3 years everywhere now.

@@MSH786 lol. Really 1973-4 gas crunch, lots of emptied gas tanks which brought you the current version of your gas tank so people couldn’t shove a hose in it and steal your gas. I was driving along out to there pregnant with my first when suddenly my car died. This guy stopped to help and I will never forget his face poking his head through my passenger window and saying ‘sweetheart you are out of gas’ like I was an idiot. Someone had siphoned out my tank, which, you had to stand in line to fill because it was being rationed. Odd days were for odd numbered auto tags and even for even. My husband was buying black market gas so he could go to his jobs paying twice the price. Gas had doubled by 1980. Back when everything was easy, lol.

Sienna has very few days on market because its demand is greater than supply/production. However, most recent numbers that I've seen have shown that the Honda Odyssey has had higher annual sales numbers than the Sienna. One source listed annual sales of Odyssey in 2022 and 2023 as 47,615 and 71,511 and for the Sienna, 20,061 and 32,825. That being said, the Sienna had >100k sold in 2021, the first year of its refresh and transition to hybrid powertrain
@Chadscarcomps
@Chadscarcomps 3 месяца назад
@yazars you have done your homework. :-) The last 5 years of sales data is so crazy. Covid really caused the auto industry to go haywire. There are still many lingering effects of Covid with chip availability, pricing surges, lack of inventory for some manufacturers, the ebb and flow of EV demand, interest rate hikes, etc. Once Covid has been in our rearview for 5 or more years, then we can see trends for sales numbers that makes sense with little to no outside pressures.

I use a wheelchair, I removed the rear seat behind the driver, then the sliding seat bracket from my 2022 Honda Odyssey so I can load my wheelchair behind me, no handicap conversion nonsense for me, I never considered the Sienna once I heard it was 4 cylinder CVT, no way, never, I prefer the Honda, I travel back and fourth through the Smokey Mountains from Tennessee to North Carolina, so far my van has been loaded with several coolers full of beef from a cow we had cut up, it handled the load quite well, you could tell it was loaded tho. I've been used to big vans that get single digit gas mileage so believe me, 26 MPG is a blessing, and I need a vehicle that lasts, this replaced my 99 E350, it got 15 MPG at best when new. I don't know why they all need a sunroof/moon roof, its just something to leak later, stop putting holes in vehicle roofs. The Honda will shut off if in traffic long periods, I hate that, turn it off, and I miss using a key, shut it off and the radio stays on until you open the door, making you think its still running. #1 Pet peeve is with the windows down the damn back doors wont open all the way, another unwanted safety feature for morons, I can't get my wheelchair in or out unless the sliding door is all the way open.

Sienna is still in high demand for the hybrid and reliability and AWD. Odyssey has the better 2nd row seats and larger 3rd row imo. Power is adequate in the hybrid sienna regardless of what people think. I would still choose the toyota. My sister's 19 odyssey has 65k miles and the transmission had to be replaced, not to mention every family member with Hondas have larger issues than Toyota's. Many don't want to believe it, but the prius.. which is pretty much what the sienna is based on, is one of the most reliable cars on the road. Reliability matters in the long term, for family and peace of mind.. I'll take that over the cool magic seats.

The Kia clearly wins on looks. the sienna, with the hybrid option, appears to have the advantage, but the initial higher cost does not allow for people to recoup any savings unless they keep the vehicle for a very long time and drive many miles, mixed driving. And if you do intend to keep the vehicle along time, the Kia Warranty is so much longer. It almost makes a decision to no-brainer.
