I love being outdoors and I enjoy and appreciate nature in its many forms. It is truly a wondrous thing. Join me on my adventures in and with nature. provincial and national park camping, backcountry, wild , hot tent winter cold weather camping, camping gear reviews and even the odd stealth camp. On occasion nature videos, hikes, and anything to do with being in the great outdoors. If you love camping and the outdoors then Connolly Outdoors is the channel for you!
Your channel just came up. I live down in the WHITE MTN. Of NEW HAMPSHIRE and also do a lot of winter hot tent camping. I don’t know if you are privy to what a diesel heater is. While I’m in my hot tent I will heat with wood, unit I go to bed then I switch to the diesel heater.Burns all night and is a dry heat so you don’t get a lot of condensation like propane leaves. I use a canvas bell tent and don’t have that problem. Good video bud. And happy camping.
Hi yes I’m familiar with the diesel heating. I haven’t used it but sounds like a good idea. Thanks for watching. I’ll be out next weekend hot tent camping again!!
Yes you are correct and I did that…on my other tents!! Ahh not this one, lol I had to trash this tent at the end of the camp it disintegrated when we were taking it down and some joints broke so this tent had a good 12 yr+ run! Thanks for your comment! 😎☝️
Thanks so much. It was so awesome having my daughter and granddaughter camping with Liam and I! Freya said she wants to winter camp with us soon as well! Yeah Frey!
It's a whole different camping experience when you bring young children with you. You have to be more responsible and alert. It can be a lot of fun especially when the little ones discover new things. You are able to teach them many things about how camping/hiking works. Thank you for wanting to do this together.
@@shawn.barela9174 I like the stove but ran into a problem with the damper closing and had to get a pipe stove screw to keep it open. Other than that it’s fine!
Tony brought me to you. I am enjoying your videos very much. Do you have to hog tight your kids to come or do they really want to go on an adventure? Thanks for the tribute for Crazy Neighbor..RIP. I love bloopers.
Yeah I love Tony he’s great. my son loves camping even more to me, so no issues with telling him let’s get out to a campsite!!! My daughter only goes a few times not too often!
I used to go canoeing and camping every year for a five night trip, the day after Labour Day in Algonquin Park. Six days with zero people or bugs. Rain Lake, entrance through Kearney, Ont.
Yes it was quite moist! Thanks Sam I’m a fan of random adventures 2.0 and your channel. I Just watched your camp with Tony and your Hurricane camp! Good stuff 🏕️
The tent definitely not designed to handle such rain... or by design, any rain. I see when you have your upper tarp somewhat above your inner tent, your inner tent still exposed to direct rain. That is absolutely not good as eventually condesation will happen. And as other have mentioned, your tarp / fly / outer tent should never touched with your inner tent as water will find ways to seeps through. Id suggest take this tent only for fair weather and get yourself a nice brand new 3p tent. Have fun with your next camping trip ! :)
You are right and I do have other tents that I use. As I mentioned we brought this tent because of the size my other 3p tent is what I normally use but decided not to for this camp! ⛺️
saying something obvious: have had many of old tents (still do). but when going out to use them (if not for a while) i always reseam them and set them up and hose water on them to check for leaks (and add some waterproofing in areas if needed.) have many tents that are old and stand up well just the seaming is importent for rain. keep dry keep warm keep camping in the rain, nothing like it.
I learned that you should have a gap between tent and tarp, they must not touch each other. That tent has not been used for a long time, perhaps some new impregnations before use. Maybe a big tent, it's just not made for heavy rain. You only learn by trying. Keep up the good work looking forward to the next video.
You are correct. I thought with using a tarp it would be fine but I underestimated the tarp I need a bigger one but. Or huge like the blue one I brought. Thanks for your kind words!
Hello, good thing you brought the bigger tent! Its all an adventure camping! Thats why i love it. Goose shit is the worst! A few fire crackers might help get rid of them! I got already to hunker down from Beryl and had a day and a half of gentail rain! Just re-water proof that tent, they sell the stuff at Canadian Tire in the Camp Sec. It works great. I usually do all my tents before I ever use them. Good on you guys for braveing Beryl alone, in the wilds of Ont. lol That looks like a lot of rain for sure!! Hope you guys keep a jornal of these shananagans!! Just two Canadian guys sitting in lawn chairs, with rubber boots! Thanks for the fun!
Hi Connolly Outdoors! What an adventure you two had. I would have bailed into the truck if my gear was performing as yours did. Way to stick it out! Looking forward to seeing the next one.
Hi, yes it was quite An adventure. I never thought about bailing to the truck but I was nervous through the night about gear failure but luckily we managed! Thanks for your comment. We will be out again soon!! 🏕️
Nice to see you and your son spending some time quality time together. The world needs more of this. Great video. I look forward to seeing your next adventure.
Haha yes it’s a beautiful area. We actually had to spray inside the area between rain fly and tent. Insects were brutal even worse than I mentioned in the video!
Rondeau is not a great park, it’s a nice area but the sites are generally pretty crappy! Summer camping in Ontario isn’t peaceful, dogs, radios, and full parks. Good luck finding crown land in sw Ontario, especially anywhere around there ! Cheers, glad it all worked out.
You are absolutely correct! Which is why Liam and I are going way up north roughly 8-9 hrs away this weekend to have peace and quiet and an awesome camp experience! Stay tuned for that video!
@@tennyis28 you and me both!! But I know why; I screwed up and bought lactose free cheese. 🧀 it was on sale, so I grabbed it up cause these bags of cheese are sooo expensive but I didn’t look close enough to realize it was lactose free. Until Liam showed me at the campsite. I’ll be checking closer next time. You will never been saddened again! Thanks for your comment😎
@@Connollyoutdoors I have the same one and use it with my dutch oven to make stew, pulled pork, etc gives me an excuse to have a nice long fire and slow cook an amazing meal!
Thanks very much. I think that people love drama and danger etc. if that happens when we camp then we’ll film it etc but most times it’s just relaxing and my son and i enjoying our camps!
