Ciao, bel video, ok per non poter utilizzare contemporaneamente i suoi suoni e uno degli altri suoni dei motori tipo Jup, ma si possono usare contemporaneamente almeno due suoni proprietari?
So, I take it you're a fan? I, too, sold my original and made way for the new. There's just something about the sound Yamaha creates that is familiar but so unique to other brands, in my opinion
So funny to see all the rankings in the comments. Especially the "winning by far" ones. Check out NPR tiny desk concerts. There are some great acts live (e.g. Chaka Khan). You see Montage, Fantom and Kronos (not Nautilus) a lot. In the end, it comes down to the audio engineer who does the mix. I myself like the user interface of Yamaha.
Just picked one of these up after playing it at Sweetwater. I’d had my eye on it for years and thought it would be good but there is something truly amazing about this synth. I couldn’t stop playing it. Surrounded by every other synth out there, I still couldn’t walk away to spend time with the others. Can’t wait to really get to know it as well as my Hydrasynth and Wavestate.
Fabulous instrument! But little consolation to those of us who shelled out $2600 + $400 = $3000 for the "miracle" midi+ upgrade in 1983 ($9460 in today's money, imagine that - the current price of a Moog One, but I am really not bitter 😉) not to mention countless 3rd party repair bills after the short factory warrranty only to become a (admittedly but begrudginly) dazzling studio wall art piece with the flashing LED-test pattern (pressing code C-0, remember that? 😊) Did I mention I am not bitter?? 🤣
ecco, il CP80 è sempre "strano"... meno peggio di prima, ma ancora manca "roba" (e quando si va sulle ottave alte manca tutto 🙂). vabbè, io non faccio testo... giustamente, non si acquista questa macchina per il suono di CP80, ma insomma, 3.700 euro e ancora niente hammond e CP80 (che dovrebbe essere il LORO strumento) deboluccio 🙂 poi ovviamente sull'editing assurdo dei synth non si discute 👍
My takes. Piano: Montage takes it by a long shot, I did expect that though as I expected Yamaha to do a perfect job capturing *their own* pianos. I slightly prefered the Fantom over the Nautilus because it sounds like it has higher quality samples and generally knows what it wants to be. Strings: Montage takes it, sounds the most open to my ears and I think it's for the same reason as the pianos probably, Yamaha makes stringed instruments aswell. Nautilus has this weird ultra scooped processed vibe to it which is cool in a way but not that useful, Fantom sounds a bit flat compared to both but the sample quality sounds higher to me than the Nautilus. Rhodes: Totally different types of Rhodes sounds, very hard to compare. I do prefer the warmth of the Fantom in this case with the Montage being a close second. Nautilus sounded weird an not like any real Rhodes I know of. Big pad: Fantom takes it by far, you can hear that's clearly a Jupiter style sound. Nautilus does have a cool thing going on in a more modern sense, didn't like the Montage at all this time, sounded a bit generic for me. 80s piano: Montage takes it for me, it's literally the real thing basically as it uses FM for that sound! the MK80 emulation on the Fantom also sounds incredible. Nautilus sounds like it has no real reference and can't come close to both the others. FM Piano: again, Montage is basically the real thing. the Fantom does sample the real thing really well and the Nautilus sounds like what a "80s piano" patch should sound like and doesn't even try to emulate the real thing. Pluck synth: I liked all of them but Fantom takes it for me, again sounds like it's definitely an emulation of one of Roland's legendary analogs. Nautilus sounds very interesting in a modern way and Montage actually sounds like it might be FM here too! Dulcimer synth: All have their own character, but I'd have to pick the Nautilus for this one. Not sure what I like about it so much here but it is what it is. Montage sounds like an interesting combo of a muted piano and a supersaw and Fantom actaully sounded kinda ethnic in a cool way. Slow pad: Fantom takes it, love how so much is going on there. Nautilus has a weird range to it but sounds nice, Montage to me sounds a bit too harsh. In conclusion: Montage for real instrument sounds, Fantom for synths. But honestly if synths is the strength of the Fantom I'd rather get a Jupiter X for that :D
how did you pan the sounds to other directions? when i try to use dual mode with the same patches and pan mode on i hear that chorusy detuned effect but there is no stereo sound. I personally use the dx7 II D with headphones but are you suppose to use the two outputs labeled A/MIX and B and pan the sounds in two directions in a daw to make the stereo thingy work? thanks for any answer!
Amazing playing and synth. Do you think is a good beginner synth for one that looks for analog and already have a midi controller? I better to start with a microfreak and then buy in future based on tastes. Whant to learn to play a synth, actually always played a guitar
