I just need to reinstall Windows IOT Enterprise 2019, not purchase it. Where is the ISO for those of us who have already purchased and just need to reinstall it? Microsoft pretends this windows version doesn't exist.
As an OEM with a CLA agreement, you have access to t he Software Order Center where you can download the media. If you are the end-user, you would need to contact the OEM of your device to get the media. The IoT versions are strictly for OEMs that build appliances. I do have a video on my channel here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AnHMuSuAKfA.htmlsi=5qItqjh7_Cwa7Ny7
Love your videos WindowsChamp. So informative the way it should be. I've installed so many IoT os instances in my time. I love the robotic sound too seriously keep that please.
I have deployed windows 10 ltsc for several years in a general office environment installing lots of "stuff" on them and never had an issue. I did live in perpetual fear MS would target the LTSC abusers and employ restrictions, but they never did.
Hello Ken, I really appreciate your time and availability to share us your huge knowledge with us in AIS Nogales. Personally, I enjoyed your ability to explain, I could catch up the ideas clearly. Thanks a lot, again!
Good Job and i have implemented as directed .... However, i had issue when it said could not connect to the DB an di had to create ... So when i clicked yes.... Its still did not create a new DB on the new server.. Please what do i do...
I don't think its fair at all that enterprise and business users have the right to purchase a debloated and telemetry removed windows version , but yet the home user who may very well still have paid for a license key , has no legal recorce to obtain such quality products .
I don't disagree with you but also know that you can fairly easily take a Home or Pro product and strip out or debloat just about every single feature. There are even third parties out there that offer these type of products. I actually hope to do a video on them here soon.
Hi Windows champ can we Install Windows Server IoT 2022 on Virtual machine ? Is it legal or not ! If yes then same COA sticker we have to purchase which we regularly purchasing for Windows IoT Server 2022
The IoT Server licenses for years have required that you install the product on a physical device before you sell and ship it. It always included virtualization rights but if you were just going to sell the Server IoT COA license and use it for a VM on existing hardware, that was not allowed until now! There is a specific part that allows you to sell it as a Virtual appliance. Look on my channel for my video that covers VMaaA or Virtual Machine as an Appliance.
11:43 If you want to KNOW why, read the book "Bill Gates et la saga de Microsoft" (by Daniel Ichbiah) Short story: MS made special agreements with the computer hardware (sellers first, but after) developers and brands. And it was just the starting point. It's continued and improved, even until these days. Just think about that: Xbox runs MS os, you even can run windows on it (with tricks) 'cause Xbox basicaly a VERY (weak and) barebone AMD x86_64 PC. Actualy way weaker, than any cheapest laptops what you can buy anywhere now in the shops. But... The OS and the programs/games runs better and faster than on a gaming PC. The newly upcoming AAA letters as well. Just compare once an Xbox hardware inside to a modern gaming PC once... Xbox has an integrated APU with some ram, some ssd, bluetooth chips etc (nothing special but necessary) It's like a TOY compare to a normal PC, even compare to an older PC. So this "job" was and is artifical by MS. Because MS and the Computer Hardware manufacturers and developers living in symbiosis since ~40 years at least (and Xbox also uses windows kernel, just like the "normal" PC's)
Installed IoT LTSC on both my laptop and PC, it's nice. The only things I had to "fix" were installing the microsoft store and game bar, which you have to install from the Xbox app.
thanks for this. i was wondering how to play minecraft under my gpu pass thru linux host system as there was no microsoft store when i installed this version of windows, which is needed for playing minecraft. although a lot of my games don't work because of kernel-level anti-cheat, even under the vm, i still have a gpu accelerated vm which is real useful to me.
Just to say thanks for pointing me in the direction of the IOT / LTSC versions of Windows 10. Have clean-installed on a couple of my computers recently with great success and will be doing the Vpinball next... might consider W11 in 6-8 years or so once the dust has settled!
I would recommend at the very least to get a SSD if you are going to run this. Does not have to be expensive. But your OS should always run on a SSD nowadays.
So if this client isn't released yet, then that means I can't activate it yet. In that case, I hope it does come out before my trial ends in 74 days or else I may be screwed.
This video is from a year ago... The 11 IoT Ent LTSC 2024 product launched on May 22nd and is now available but only available to OEM's that manufacture appliances.
For the 11 LTSC, the Defender is under Windows Security Center and I'm afraid you cannot disable it. In the past there have been options including installing a 3rd party antivirus application but for this new product, we've been told it cannot be disabled.
Instead of clickbait, why didn't you begin your video with a caveat that we (meaning 99% of RU-vid viewers) can't use this wonderful OS for our home systems?
Thank you for the tips... yeah my last batch of videos the audio is just terrible no question. I have a good Elgato Wave 3 mic but I changed my office and recently removed some absorbers.... I need to get it back to where I had it!
Win 7 support ended back in 2020.... now it just the life and availability that remains. Even the Extended extended support is already done. Best to move to Win 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 or the new Win 11 IoT Ent LTSC 2024.
You are correct! Yes TPM stands for Trusted Platform Module. I had security on my mind and some security software companies make a product called Threat Protection Modules and I had that on the brain. Good catch!
Serious Question. If you like WINDOWS but hate telemetry, one drive, the cloud, co-pilot, recall, does MS offer something for private citizens that you can buy use WITHOUT EVER HAVING ANY FORM OF AI and telemetry? Also, can you set up a local administrator account or would it be better to just move to different platform. I have been using windows for years and have several computers, I hate windows 11 because I don't need the cloud, one drive or any form of AI and I refuse to buy another computer and have this shoved down my throat. What are your suggestions? I will never need the cloud, as I have several external hard drives. Do I need to buy windows 11 IOT Enterprise LTSC? I know this is usually for businesses but if you are a private citizen and want to use windows with only up dates being made available and ABSOLUTELY NO RECALL, CO-PILOT, one drive, the cloud. Oh and please don't tell me anything about a setting that will let you OPT IN OR OUT because down the road MS can still be able to get the data. Being THE WINDOWS CHAMP, I feel like your response will be one that MANY WILL REALLY TAKE SERIOUSLY. Thank You
This is a great question and I'm going to give you the real true answer. I've supported Windows operating systems from version 1.0 which was almost 40 years ago. My entire career, I've assisted many customers, friends, and family which have all had similar requests in that once they found the version of Windows they really liked, they in many cases just don't want to move forward. They don't want new features and things like One Drive, Documents folder being stored in the cloud, and new versions of MS Paint, etc. If we ranked the best versions of Windows of all time, I strongly believe that Windows XP would win hands down. It was simple, small form factor, few features, and it just worked really well. Windows 7 would come in a close second as it was a little more modern but still really simple. It was Vista that started the problems... we all hated Vista and then of course Windows 8 which forced into a touch screen world that nobody was ready to move into. What many end users do not realize is that Microsoft had an embedded windows operating system that ran parallel to regular windows going back to the mid 90's. The embedded versions were stripped down and super basic just enough to run an appliance. Microsoft never promoted these products and they were never available to the general public. In 2015, Microsoft launched Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2015 along side the launch of regular Windows 10 Home and Pro. The IoT version is what replaced the embedded product name. The IoT version is not for home users and is strictly for OEMs that build appliances. My entire channel is dedicated to finding OEM's that are not aware of this IoT product and get them off of Windows Pro. Now to directly answer your question. Since you are not an OEM and do not have access to Windows IoT products, the fact that you are wanting something simple without Onedrive, the cloud, Recall, Copilot, IA, data mining, etc... honestly, your only option is to downgrade back to Windows 7. Windows 10 Pro has downgrade rights back to 7 Pro. Just go back and run Windows 7. Of course newer hardware may not have drivers but in most cases, it works. I've loaded Windows 7 on brand new AMD and Intel systems without any issues. If that isn't an option, then simply move to Linux. Download Ubuntu and find a Windows theme. In many cases what I'm seeing is that a home user that really wants the IoT version can in many cases find it on key sites or other illegal sites but if you want something that is legal, get a Win 10 Pro license and downgrade to 7 Pro. The other option is the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 is available to end-users as an upgrade via the Volume channel but it is an expensive upgrade in the $275 range. That is simple too expensive for an end-user. But you can google Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 Volume edition how to buy and you'll see the options. IoT equals embedded which equals OEMs building appliances. You do not need Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC as you are not an OEM building an appliance.
It is interesting that everyone came to the channel for better windows and everyone would like to buy legally, but it is not possible. Why even promote this? How many purchase requests have you had for private users in the last 10 days..
My channel isn't directed at end users and is focused directly at OEM's that build appliances. I'm sure the youtube algorithm cannot determine if you are an end-user or an OEM so it promotes to both type of users. An end user can purchase this product as an upgrade but it is very expensive. Just google Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 Volume channel edition. The Win 11 IoT Ent LTSC Volume edition isn't out yet... won't be out till later this fall.
OK, how do I get a legal copy of this to run on my personal PC? From everything I've read, I can't. Microsoft needs to wake up and see that probably millions of Win 11 users are switching to MacOS, Linux or Chrome OS! Wake up Microsoft and see that a sale of Win 11 LTSC at least keeps your customers! Don't run them all away and wonder why your stock is in the toilet.
As an end user you can purchase the volume 11 Enterprise LTSC upgrade but it’s expensive. Hey I agree with you and provide feedback often to Microsoft.
Microsoft just changed direction on the Recall feature and it will be turned off by default. They took some heat for that one. It's good that they are trying to listen to the public.
That's true but they can always turn it silent and incognito in the background on with the next update, If a company wants your data they will try to get it in diff ways, I don't trust Microsoft!!!@@WindowsChamp
Honestly we’ll have to give it some time. It is based on the 4th build version of windows 11 but the 10 LTSC 2021 was based on the 13th build of windows 10. That LTSC 2021 product is rock solid.
I'm building a new computer that I will be using for work (digital art, editing, app development) and personal use (gaming, internet browsing, movies). Does it make sense for me to get LTSC when its not purely for work environment?
It really doesn't make sense for that scenario and technically it doesn't qualify for the IoT version of LTSC. The non LTSC version is a $275 upgrade to Pro and well that $275 would better be spent on a higher model graphics card. The IoT version is strictly for OEM's that are building appliances and requires signing a legal agreement. I know many of my viewers are just end users that in many cases aren't even paying for a real license. Even if I were to look at it from that angle, I would still stick with the GAC version of 11 for a home user. The GAC version of Windows 11 both Pro and Enterprise get you 3 years of support on a single build which is more than enough time between Windows updating forcing you to a newer build.
Hello Ken, can you please provide an insight on pricing for SQL server IoT versions... At least an order of magnitude comparison between IoT and non-iot per core licenses forthe Standard edition? Thank you!
Because the pricing is part of the agreement that is signed, I can't publish the pricing here but if you reach out to us at windowsIoT@arrow.com, we can give you a good comparison. I can also say that the SQL IoT is a minimum 50% less expensive than the CSP Volume channel SQL licenses.
Hey Jason, technically the IoT versions are not for home users. The IoT licenses are strictly for OEMs that build fixed purpose appliances. Of course like all Microsoft products there are pirated websites that will sell keys which are not licenses but will any many cases activate. Lots of end user home users out there that aren't concerned about being legal and will buy keys to activate the O/S but to be legal, you need a physical COA sticker license which is only available from an authorized distributor such as Arrow electronics and you must be an OEM that has signed the legal agreement with Microsoft.
@@WindowsChamp thank you a most thorough answer that not only answers my specific question, but answers all anticipated follow-up questions. The existence of a stable bloatware free IoT edition shows that it is feasible to have such an edition. Remember when Microsoft claimed it cannot remove Internet Explorer without compromising the stability of Windows? Well, some enterprising hacker was able to do just that. That experience showed that, like Linux, Windows is more modularized than Microsoft tells us, making it possible and easy to debloat it. I suspect the Windows that runs in Azure or Windows 365 is the equivalent of this on-prem IoT edition so it does not unnecessarily consume computing resources on Microsoft-owned servers. It’s even possible that Microsoft intentionally makes the non-virtualized version bloated so to make its Azure version attractive to increase sales of Azure. It’s all about money. It’s all about swaying public sentiment to increase the sale even it means being a tad shady.
@@WindowsChamp I was really hyped about this product when it was available for purchase. it's really stupid that it can't be legally taken for a single machine or computer for normal users. There is already an illegal version on the Internet and you can easily find a licensed key for free. For those of us who are willing to pay for the original, there is no option. It doesn't matter, but completely stupid.
@@kele92 Hey I don't disagree with anything you just said. There actually is a Volume Win 11 LTSC upgrade for end-user customers however it is very expensive. But if you have a system that has say 10 Pro or 11 Pro license on it, you can purchase the Volume CSP version of 11 LTSC for your own home use. The downside is that it is an upgrade to Pro and it is expensive. But for the Home user, Microsoft's focus is Home and Pro edition. I agree with you in that they should have an LTSC for Home users that is affordable, but they don't.
The Win 11 IoT Ent LTSC 2024 supported processors are listed here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/iot-enterprise/hardware/processor_requirements
First I've heard of any issues with Sandbox on LTSC editions. I fired up my Win 10 IoT Ent LTSC 2021 edition and sandbox works great. I need to test it with the 11 LTSC. What sort of issue did you have?
@@WindowsChampIt asks me to restart the computer by going into control panel, selecting sandbox and enabling it. During the restart, it gives the error "There was a problem while updating and the old settings were reverted".
@@blackmirror2992 Gotcha, yes I just had the same problem on the 11 IoT Ent LTSC. Are you having this issue on the 11 LTSC? I'll run this by the Microsoft IoT Engineering team.
@@WindowsChamp Yes, I am having problems with windows 11 lot Ent LTSC. Thank you very much for your interest in the subject. I hope the problem is solved as soon as possible.
The IoT LTSC products are not available to end-user consumers. You have to be an OEM that is building a gaming system like the steamdeck for example. But yet, this would make a great O/S for an OEM building a dedicated gaming system.
Why did they have to put IoT (Internet of Things) in the name? We dont need every freaking toaster or refrigerator connected to the internet. So stuupixd.
Thanks this is very nice and informative video. You really know a lot about the windows and their licensing system. I have a question - What exactly is difference between Win 11 Enterprise LTSC vs Win 11 Enteprise IoT Enterprise LTSC? Is the price or licensing fees same for both of them or different? I elieve Win 11 Enteprise LTSC is still not out to general public or businesses.
IoT Ent LTSC is only for special kind of device not for general device. And IoT Ent LTSC microsoft will provide 10 years of support from the release date
@@Corteum FYI: Windows IoT LTSC doesn’t comes with preinstall UWP apps such as Microsoft store, wether, cortana, Photos etc, so because of that it makes this OS very fast..but if you want use this OS for your regular use than its not for you, as per Microsoft compliance you can’t use this for general use
