My wife (Dawn) and I (Tex) have changed careers as of February this year (2022). I left my Network job with The Department of Criminal Justice & All Saints Episcopal School, while Dawn left the Fort Worth School District to become RV Transporters.
We both do the Driveaway division for Horizon Transport. We will both drive a unit each and deliver them. After delivery, we will camp while on route to pick up the next two units. We camped in tents, yurts, & cabins. In some locations, we splurge and stay in hotels.
This is a fast pace to seeing places and yet we have visited some locations multiple times giving us the freedom to explore more unseen territories.
The Units we deliver are no more than a glorified tent for us to sleep in. We use none of the conveniences in it. We usually sleep on the couch, or the dinette drops into a full bed. There are times we just use our tents outside and enjoy the outdoors.
As I said earlier, this video is awesome and I appreciate you being straight up and forward because those are pitfalls I have never heard of before lotta other similar channels to yours. Do not say these pitfalls that’s major I’ll probably come at one more time before the end of this video because I’m only 3/4 way through it good job.

I agree with you 100% if you drive around America it changes everywhere you go from state to state county county I know, I’ve been in almost every state in the United States customs are different. People don’t like it, but there’s something called a “Rolling Reset” which allows a driver to keep driving 7 days a week. If you don’t like doing a 34, it’s an option.
I thought you are in driveaway. Driveaway is different from tow away. I'm in driveaway and average between 50 to 65%. I'm curious how you come up with only 30%. What all do you include as expenses?
I think i know the answer but after you drop your unit off and you have your vehicle with you, do you have to log your drive to your next pick up? You are technically in route towards a dispatch which would be considered business related but also one wouldn't log a flight to their next dispatch - at least i wouldn't lol.
Trip planning it's best to do it at an average 50 mph. And fuel stops give 18:04 that 30 minutes- minimum. If you need a 30 minute and or 10hr break, add that in and about 1 hours for bathroom breaks. Each time you pull off the road you lose momentum so your mph average drops. That's how I trip plan but I normally get to my destination earlier but that's the safest way and most trucking companies teach that. Im considering doing this. Do they have plenty of work right now?

With out a cdl you would be limited. F450's are usually 14k in weight, leaving 12k for the RV and If a Company would give you a chance. They would probably cut you off at 11 or 10k. You can use my link to ask a Horizon recruiter. Please use my 9677 ID number to refer me.
@dtnlivinglife6731 when you have minute to spare, can you tell me what a safe distance from the 5th wheel to the rear of your truck is ? I think I would have to remove my step bumper because it is 12" deep and almost 8' wide.. I think I would need to remove it for clearance... It's OK for my gooseneck trailer but I don't think 5th wheel rv has that much clearance

The increases since 1980 are actually more, given that in 1980 and for several years after that, the RV industry was more spread out across the country versus mostly consolidated in Elkhart, Indiana as it is now.
Sorry, but I don't really pay close attention to tolls since they are reimbursement. I think across Ohio is $25 to $30. I could be off. Pennsylvania tolls are the most expensive tolls I have crossed.
Would only interested in driving a class C or A. How do they figure your pay per mile ? By size or gas or diesel ? Would these companies allow a husband and wife team ? Both have class B cdl with airbrakes. We have a big diesel newmar.
The pay is determined by the customer and Horizon or which ever company you are driving for will take their percentage and you will be informed of price before you agree to take it. With Horizon, that could be .94 cents to $1.25 per mile. And yes, there are Husband and Wife teams that do this.
It's gotten ridiculous. How many multiple e-mails I receive in a day from various companies about some topic. I think I deleted over 200 e-mails yesterday. And today my e-mail is again stuffed. Sometimes buried within e-mails is an important e-mail needing to be addressed. Trucking companies did in the past used Qualcomm for driver messaging so it wasn't mixed in with e-mail. Of course another expense for driver. Very time consuming going through e-mails especially if it has been a long tiring day. .Thank you for the video. Safe travels and Blessings.

13:30 I Purchased my truck for tow-away rv in November of 2023, and started RV towing in January of 2024, and my CPA refused to qualify the truck as a business purchase. Her reasoning, the vehicle was not used in 2023 for business, making it a personal vehicle. Now, I don't even know if I can qualify the truck purchase as a business expense during the next tax season, other then depreciating it.

If you arrive at the end of the day or last minute to the yard before closing, understand the light of day will drastically impact your photo quality. I once found a fiberglass dent from the manufacturer that I could not display due to photo quality, and had to wait till morning for a better photo.
