We usually make around .40 cents a mile take home after deductions of fuel, insurance and other expenses. Driveaway is not a money making job. Last year with us both driving as we drove at a leisure. We drove 80k miles, after deductions of Maintenance/Fuel/and other expenditures we took home on our taxes $31k. Now that is not much but when you add that we got to camp and stay on 12 different beaches (Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf) for three + nights each time, see 9 national parks. And taste some of the best cooking across the United States. We are happy with what we have achieved. We also have our second 8 night cruise planned for the Bahamas (one every two years). Are we making as much money as we use to make, " NO " ... I am a former Network engineer, that has Cisco CCNP certs in security and wireless, Microsoft Azure, 365, Security, Compliance, and Identify Certifications. With my wife coming from work School maintenance for 20+ years. So no, we are no where near the income. But while at those jobs we did explore, but not to the enjoyment of getting up when we wanted, and going to many locations we wanted at our leisure. I hope this helps.

I would like to say, that yes you can make money, but the question is more to how much money. We are not making even 50% of what we use to make. So yes it can be said you won't make money. But I have met people living off less than $20k a year while doing this job and they think we are rich. Thanks for your thoughts.

We have had a contract with each so called transport business in Elkhart, Goshen and Middlebury, Indiana with each leaving us stranded after three months of transporting. My background is accounting, data storage and some technology as well. We are filing in Federal Court against each transport business for their multiple Intentional Torts. We get two going the same direction most of the time. 1 out of three trips wife will stay behind and I'll go on my own. Or she will ride with me. The other times we go the same direction and 40% of the time to the dealer. If we do not have the same dealer then we drop one first and either she is riding with me, or I am following her to the next location. If they are two different locations they are usually a day apart or less. Hopefully I explained this correctly. Note only a driver can ride with another driver in a unit. Horizon will allow you to bring a visitor with you one time a year.
