Welcome to the largest RU-vid channel dedicated specifically to everything Brisbane. General info, what's on, things to do and places to eat in and around Brisneyland. This is for you if you're visiting Brissie, are planning to live here, or even if you've lived all your life in this beautiful city.
As a Brisbane resident since 2014, I try to give you a balanced view of what this city is all about (the good and the bad), but obviously I'm just one guy, and I've got my own experiences, opinions and biases. So be sure to read through the comments on these videos for more insight into different people's Brisbane experiences!

Ibis?? It's called a bin chicken. And they're a pest. Why would we exonerate them? No one wants a disgusting bird to represent us. Id much rather just a statue of an Asian person as our mascot because let's be realistic. They own most of the homes and business here. Please don't make the mascot anything to do with Aboriginals either, because a thorough internet search will reveal they were not here before the British (in brisbane) because it was a barron swamp. They just pull the victim card to claim what is not theirs. Possible a Mango?
If Brisbane gets The Big Ibis, there would forever be an argument over whether it should be called that or called The Big Bin Chicken. And that's a bit of a tongue twister.
Thanks. Just today I sat in a training session with an organisation that rescues and rehabilitates the bats when they're injured. Every time I mention the video in the works I'm reminded of how hated the bats are!
The one I saw was the big meat ant in Augathella, outback Queensland. When I searched for the town name, I discovered there's quite a few big ants in different Australian towns.
A big bin chicken is good but I have an idea what Brisbane is missing, it’s a train city loop! This will allow both residents and visitors to easily and confidently travel around Brisbane. At the moment we have one big CBD area but I’ll be good to expand it to the surrounding areas. It seems that if I want to go to south bank for example I feel there is no easy way to get around using public transport so I end up staying the whole day there. I’ll be good to spend the morning in Southbank then train it to CBD for brunch and then to new farm in the afternoon using 1 train loop.
Our transport is terrible. Also if we are going to host the olympics, we better start cleaning our river now 😂. But all jokes aside, the one thing we lack is landmarks. Paris is clever using its landmark spaces to host games. That is what Brisbane needs.
i don't want the olympics. Not because of the half arsed plans, but because of the security threats already happening in paris at the moment. Do we really want to let these kinds of people from all over the world in to trash our beautiful laidback city.
What Brisbane lacks is people with vision and parliamentarians with balls. We desperetly need an iconic building, perhaps a grand observation tower..think what Paris would be without the Eifel tower and Toronto without the CN tower or even Sydney without the opera house, that sort of thing. A big ibis wont cut it. We still have time to build till the Olympics, thats if they sort out the staduims mess first in time. We have once in a lifetime opportunity here, lets take advantage of that.
Yes agree. Plus they fluked it getting the Olympics and the government treats it just like a political football.. We're run by total imbeciles with no vision.
Brisbane city was fine back then, Now it is more busy now because Brisbane city council put in the bike and scooter on road There is no stop for delivery car and truck to park in Brisbane city so that is way Brisbane city is very Busy
It lacks parks in some areas. Places to do sprints, fly kites/drones…. Just flat land. I go to Whites Hill which is my favourite. But imo there could be more open land spaces.
I absolutely love your channel but the traffic report was absolute tripe. After moving from Sydney one of the biggest things I absolutely love is that the traffic is sooooo much better. And to say Brissie has worse traffic than Bangkok is just crazy. Brissie is chilled and friendly. The one thing we lack is heritage buildings but I can live with that.
Seriously though - Brisbane lacks Social Housing for older people 65+ usually single, mostly female. We cannot have homeless people who have worked sometimes their lives in low paid jobs and then divorce or illness has them living in a tent in Musgrave Park. Sorry simple one bed housing for single homeless over 65 or 60 is needed and urgently. They have no chance of gaining employment to pay rent even if rental properties were available- start looking after Australians - please. ❤🙏🙏
@@BrisbaneChannel I added to my comment between your reply. It’s just so tragic, in my work I have old men and women buying a cheap van to live in - unbelievable in Australia - we need to build social housing - it’s so very sad. 😢😢
Heya UK here I’m into uni next year and really want to set Brisbane as my end goal to move and start a family. Want to get into a policy or social job. Reckon it’s worth it?
It definitely needs a new stadium for the Olympics and AFL and cricket afterwards, not spending 1.6 billion doing up a relic stadium, only to tear it down after the Olympics!!
For me the thing it lacks is a quality import-retail infrastructure. I am often having to order things from interstate. This is particularly noticeable for bicycle parts where most of what I buy has to be ordered out of Melbourne.
Everyone should be asking not what Brisbane (cbd) lacks, but what greater Brisbane lacks (infrastructure). As most people who commute there, are normally stuck in traffic or on a bus or train for ages. It's those who keep the city running. Brisbane was never meant to be a 15 minute city.
All I see is 20km long trains of giant Jeeps/UTEs/SUVs with one single person in them... so a giant Monster Truck would fit well, as that is what people use to go to to local coffee shop every day...
Instead of an underground bus there should be a more developed metro in the same place. Trams should back to our street. Also I still think Brissy is missing a well-known dish. Something very typical. (I have no idea what it could be)
Social housing for older 60+ people ? That’s definitely lacking - selling far too many cheap vans to people who cannot afford a rental and some in their 70s - we need to look after older Australians with simple one bed safe social housing - not a tent in Musgrave Park or a cheap van.
