I can relate to a lot of Gilberts local values and ideas however am still educating myself on what it would take for our local economy to achieve this. He is understandably nervous being interviewed. It shows he cares and is passionate about change. He genuinely wants to work for the better of the people. He has thrown in a fair bit of the political terminology to demonstrate he speaks "political leader" language, however I understand it is necessary to reach various audiences. Smaller candidates have to start somewhere and need the backing to make change in a pool of established candidates. These videos are so helpful as I like to hear straight from the person themselves before I make my choices. I know its only one snapshot in time and I think he did really well.

I like a lot of what he has to say . Especially about the Brisbane owned building company building homes at cost price . He’s got a good sense. Hopefully the word salad becomes better with time and confidence.
I take every election "as it comes" and take the time to research each candidate before making a choice. Usually when I look up the independents they're not quite right in the head and/or extremist. This guy is a refreshing change though I find it ironic that he's against individualism but running as an independent... not exactly practicing what he preaches when it comes to building communities and collective systems. Who is he? Someone who is always trying to do the right thing, and can't be bought. Someone who is thinking outside of the box to try and fix ingrained problems. Is he right about everything? no one person ever is, that is why teamwork and democracy is so important.
Hi. The comment was about supporting local residents to find homes ahead of people who want to move to Brisbane. It wasn’t directly related to race politics, but I guess it does have implications for that. Any person has my support, and a culturally diverse Australia is cool. But multiculturalism has been an ill-defined goal. How can we build common identity in community? Surely there are cultural elements to this. The progressive left has been busy looking for a racist behind every tree, which has shut down moderate dialogue and seen the rise of right wing extremism.
We’re all Australians, just because someone was born in QLD, or has been there for X amount of years doesn’t make them more entitled to housing than an Aussie who has moved from 3 hours down the road
When the (behind the scenes) CEO of the BCC is paid lots more than the Mayor, who's governing ? Council has sub-contracted lots of our services, that only results in less accountability and buck passing blame, when issues arise. Same tactics used by State and Fed Govt's, so more spin (bs) is given to as hold on to power.

I have only read the headlines but it seems right on the surface. I guess sometimes the devil is in the detail, but I support economically diverse, interactive communities to the neighbourhood scale so we can support policies like a local job guarantee.
Having lived for significant periods of time in different countries that are either highly individualistic or highly collectivist in their dominant cultures, I can see that either extreme is not ideal (at least based on my own core values). I think he's just advocating for a little balance, rather than preferring one over the other. I got more the impression of Holmes being someone that was anti any extreme as far as his views went.
