Since we don't have bamboo, I tried some mahogany and maple. But I made it too small, so starting over. If you have any other hardwoods I might use, please let me know. Also, can I use contact cement for the animation? It would be flexible for longer perhaps? I was using Tightbond 111 as it is waterproof too, and you can then steam the bend? Or is it the glue that helps give it the bend shape after wrap and clamping? Not sure, anyway, giving it all another go since my first one broke!LOL this is fun to try. I would like to try the recurve bow, but would have to do it all in wood as I don't have the aluminum for the metal section. Purple heart wood should be tough enough!? I love all your miniatures, and I needed a mini bow for our nature center, so people could guess the name of a river, but of course, I just HAD to make this one!!:) LOVE this tutorial, Only, no banana fiber...sigh.
