this channel is about helping people learn to play guitar, Am I the best no, but I have spent many years playing and would like to help people learn the basics of guitar playing and basic theory. In 2009 I was in an accident that left me Paralyzed from the waist down, if I can play guitar with a disability, many people can learn to play with or without a disability. All guitar parts are recorded with EMG 81 in the BRIDGE position. I don't say much about being injured because it's not about me it's about helping other people learn to play or simply enjoy watching people play. Have a great day and thanks for taking the time to read this, please subscribe and ask any questions. If all you are going to do is leave rude comments please don’t look at my videos. They are basic beginner videos. Before you judge my videos have yours posted on your channel until then …..
Great lesson. One thing I'm struggling with is the tension in my arm. Any ideas to get over that to increase longevity? I've seen Zakk Wylde shred for 15 minutes straight. That's the level I want to get at. Awesome looking, Jackson, by the way. Is that a custom shop? 🤘💀😎🎸🎶
check out my tremolo picking video, I use mostly my wrist only not my elbow. You need tom practice alternate picking everyday. that will help immensely. its a short video, also playing legato and other techniques helps.
@andrewz.3432 yes it’s a 2005 Jackson Custom shop serial J6888 only 10 made red w white bioskull and black with red bioskull so 40 total they did the soloist like mine and they king V only, They all had the speed profile neck dimensions which does make a difference, IMO I bought it used in 2010 from music go round.
@@Dalek-br6nu learn to alternate pick watch my picking hand very closely, you will see that I mostly alternate pick because it's a necessity in playing lead guitar. on the last video I did IMPROVISING over G major / e minor understanding the notes you are playing at fast tempos is the video that I took this short from, go watch it and slow it down to .50 or .75 and then you can watch closely and see what I am doing. please go look at my metronome videos those will also give you good insight to how I gained speed and accuracy.. thanks for watching have a good day.
sorry for other response I thought it was a different video here is the correct info 8/ 10/ 12 C/D/e notes on strings 9/10/12. f#/G/a look closely and 9/10/12. b/C/D you will see how the 9/11/12. e/f#/G. notes align from 10/12/13 a/b/C. string to string 10/12//14 D/e/f #. It's the 4th scale degree
@@SK43853OK, lemme see if I got this right... low E string, frets: 8(octave) ,10 ... Am I close? ..I think that I may have been confusing the Lydian with the Mixolydian.

It’s so amazing to see what you do with passion and a great knowledge of it all. People think music is just that but seeing All that goes into it is so much more. I’m so proud of what you have done with your life!❤
I've been doing the exercise from the last speed & accuracy video for about 2 weeks now and I feel like I've improved a lot. I was having trouble with the solo from Good Times Bad Times where he plays that fast ascending and descending scale line, but now I think I can almost do it at the same speed as Jimmy Page. Thank you so much for this channel, it's a gold mine!
@ronwilliams36 once you know the modes all the way through all 6 strings from G to G you will clearly see all the little phrases I am doing and you will be able to identify the mode it is in. I move around a lot but they are all in the same key G major / Eminor.
yes I’ve been learning the modes for a couple of months- I can go through them slow - needy to do more metronome work- I’m having trouble with the ones with the big stretch - I like to use my ring finger for the big stretch but my teacher says it would be better to use my middle finger- thanks for the info.
Depends on hand size and what is more comfortable I use my ring finger so index 3 ring 5 pinky 7 When you are ripping around 17/19/20/21/22/23/24 frets you may change it up bc frets are closer
I would say at least 15 minutes a day with a metronome, the hardest part is knowing where to play and what Key you are in.these examples are mostly G major with the relative minor being e G MAJOR/ e minor
So it is the last six notes in each mode Starting in locrian Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian , mixolydian, aeolian then your back to locrian at 15/17/19 in the key of Gmajor e minor It may seem confusing because I’m starting with the 1/2 diminished locrian mode Please subscribe, music has no rules Mr. Williams that’s why you can try different things if it sounds good it is good @ronwilliams36
IMO it's best to learn the modes from G to G on the low E String, because you can see all the notes visually other keys will have open strings. take a look at a few other videos and you'll see what I mean thanks..
Most if my learning has come from years of playing but if I could suggest 1 player to follow and even join his academy it would be KIKO LOUREIRO, I did an 9 hour workshop with him, he’s that good😊
Thank you, I have more content but I don’t want to put out so much that people don’t listen. A lot of these lessons are based off of my struggle’s 🤘🏻🤘🏻😊😊
Hey Vic thanks a lot, if you do it on your PRS most likely the notes will ring out better, my action is super low which leads to less sustain. That exercise will really help your hand strength, you most likely heard me play it super loud when I was living next door. 😊
C Lydian, D Mixolydian and E Aeolian are literally the same 7 notes. They all work over the C chord and technically it’s all C Lydian because of the context. Not hating man I swear, just thought I’d help out a bit.
in the key of Gmajor/ E minor you would think that all the modes would sound great but sometimes the chord doesn't sound very good when playing all 7 notes , thank you for sharing your knowledge, every shape has the same 7 notes G/A/B/C/D/E/F#. are the notes in Gmaj/e minor, thank you I appreciate it, Have great day. I added you thanks again!!
your channel is great, videos all are good. you play very well with lots of melody!!! have a great day, thank you for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it.
I watch a lot of guitar content and one thing I like about yours is they aren't long winded. You get right to teaching. Anything over 10 minutes loses me, I'm a get to the point person. I like that you called out the frets on this one, it's tough to sometimes see what frets people are playing. I'm Ted by the way. I live in Ohio. Good luck with the video equipment!
@@mazzetti8667 hi Ted nice to meet you, check out the one I did tonight I edited done to 6/7 minutes but it’s good for soloing over Diads and triads. it's 6 :47 minutes its pretty good. thanks. again.
Hey man, I really like your style, it would be really cool for us to hear and see this in a best version, I hope you can get the funds to improve your equipment because you deserve to be heard brother, I Love your style ⭐⭐⭐⚡⚡⚡ From Art by Gonzo,
@@SK43853 I recommend getting a better DSLR or mirrorless camera like the canon EOS series and using the usb mode to use that as a webcam, and a stienberg UR22 audio interface. Your guitar tone sounds killer so I’m sure you know how to get that in tone, then for the voiceover mic use a random condenser mic like the ones Mackie makes
Really interesting that this popped in my youtube. My son and I are dorking around with this mode, trying to write an instrumental song, using F# Locrian. We are trying to write something alternating 7/8 and 5/8 time signatures, with the chorus in G Ionian 4/4 time. It is not going too well (we are not good at writing songs), but we have not given up yet. He plays drums, and I play guitar. This is really helpful! Thank You!
Just so you know when I played the example I played F diminished not F# my mistake so at the end of the video I show how I go from locrian/Ionian/Dorian and then play E minor chord. I’m a rocker but try doing a 2/3 peddle tone and then bring in the minor chord followed by Diminished chord So in the example I play 6 minor scale notes 6 major scale notes and 6 diminished scale notes it’s very important to never land on a note that isn’t the 3/5 because the they both really highlights the chord the 5 reinforces the Tonic ..
I’m Steve too Steve Kennedy please subscribe and thank you for the feedback I appreciate it. Have great day. so as I say often if it sounds good it is good like ingwie malmsteen says! So if you play a chord that may not be in that chord progression that’s ok as long as it fits and sounds good
You’ll like that video I break down how to find the key of a song And that every major key has a minor key associated with it hence G major/ E minor G/A/B/C/D/E at the 6 th degree
Thank you so much Sir for your help. I was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas so I love the shirt behind you although I am not a football fan. You have some great guitar tips. I appreciate you greatly.
Thank you please subscribe, hopefully the material I’m putting on my channel helps people who are trying just not succeeding Just practice and you’ll get there !!! I just moved back from California I lived there for a long time. I’m glad it helped you out..
I have a friend named Bradford delaura that sold me the 2014 I had. The one I’m playing in this video is a 2010 I have the COA and you can see videos of Gus G playing ESP guitars like this one it has all FLAME inlays The newer ones had the GUS G FIREWIND logo as inlays

That's a lot of speakers! Surprised your aren't deaf, haha. I have an AXE FX III, I like that Mesa setting a lot too. The 5153 Red FX is my favorite setting.
@@mazzetti8667 that’s fine, I just like the full surround sound effects. like I said in the video I’m fortunate that I have all the equipment I like. The main reason why I use the 4x12 cabs is because I have the 2 channel power amp the has an A and B so each side of power amp runs I cab But if you only have 20/35 amp gear It doesn’t make much sense to have a 4x 12 cab
Hi Steve! Lots to un pack here, Im saving this video for deeper study later, tomorrow most likely. Do different modes evoke certain moods...or feelings? Hope you were able to enjoy todays eclipse, I sure did! Take care and keep posting !!!
I edited the one I just did on mixolydian. Thank you for watching it! yes they do evoke moods darker LOCRIAN or lighter LYDIAN. the major modes have major chords happier the minor modes have minor chords sadder. I did get to see a little bit of it .
Hey @dufusbug I uploaded the original Try to watch all of it because I show examples of how the mode matches the chord And I also play in a minor mode and you can hear examples of why it’s best to not solo over a major chord with a minor mode vise versus a major chord over minor mode…enjoy I really hope this helps you guys out
