Hi, I am an actor, Japanese sword fight choreographer and coach from Japan, now living in LA. On this channel I teach samurai sword martial arts that anyone can learn.
For me martial arts is an ART. I have developed my own method which I call the Kaz Method.
The CORE of the KAZ METHOD is 3 things: 中心 CHUSHIN or CENTER 呼吸 KOKYU or BREATH and 丹田 TANDEN or LOWER ABDOMEN
I developed this especially for artists and performers but it is a POWERFUL training for anyone! By mastering the techniques I will teach you, you can achieve HARMONY of BODY, BREATH and MIND.
When you achieve mind body harmony you can find inner peace. You have better FOCUS. Your posture and your physical PRESENCE will also become STRONGER. Your life can improve in many ways!
I invite you to take this journey with me.
All you need is a BOKKEN and your BODY!
Ready? Let's begin!

So water breathing isn't actually you do some sword's technique and then there's a water on it, it's using sword's technique following the philosophical essence of water's characteristic which is liquid-like a.k.a Flexible movement
I just found your channel and I am grateful for your instruction. I am new to all of this. I do have one question if you see this. When you have to perform a block where your arms cross, is this not weaker? I know there may not be a better option.
I have been watching your channel for a while now... I highly respect your mastery of your technique and wisdom, as well as your wisdom in such a wonderful art of the sword...💯 I have never been traditionally taught to draw/swing/sheathing the sword.... I have always used my own method to perform what my body mechanics to feel my way towards such techniques... I continue to learn and appreciate everything you do and display through your videos...💯 If you would honor me to ask if the following method has a particular name or designation.... (*) My method may be unorthodox and perhaps considered "clumsy" or perhaps "untraditional" when it comes to such an ancient and well developed art of drawing the sword... ...but my favorite method of drawing my sword is to have the sword within sheath with the cutting edge facing down ward facing the ground.... ...essentially the reverse of the technique of how your sword in sheath faces from the beginning. as I grip my sword before I draw...I angle the sword in sheath in more of a 45 degree angle. (it's not always at that exact angle before I draw, due to where I want the arc of my swing as it leaves the scabbard....that's just a general idea of where I begin, before twisting the sword in sheath in the direction of where I actually want to swing as one motion) this preferable method to me has me drawing and attacking generally in an upwards motion at whichever particular angle i am attempting to achieve as it feels a way to pre-counter my opponents initial downward motion attack to either parry their initial attack and attempt to position myself for my initial attack which my 2nd swing would then be in a downward or horizontal attack... I hope im explaining this correctly to paint a more descriptive picture of what I am explaining my method. is this particular technique that I perform have a particular name or designation in any official style? it has a very intuitive and natural feeling to me personally and has been fairly successful against training partners, whom use more refined or traditional techniques... it's very rare of someone whom is quick enough to either defend against this method...but i would be honored to hear your thoughts...💯
When drowing the sword out, do you turn the upper body (till shoulders) leftwards around the vertical axis through the "hara", but still keeping the head fixed straight looking foreward?
It's so great to revisit the Batto/ Noto Yamanote line series. It's one of my favourites that's made even better with your updates. Looking forward to seeing more of classic KAZ👍. Arigato Sensei KAZ.🙏
Kaz san i notice how when I sit from kneeling and then practice upward movment my bad shoulder pops, is there an easier way to do this sort of movement without feeling injury?
Would you make a video on selection of both a IAIDO GI OBI & HAKAMA. Focusing on points of measurement. Shoulders to Wrist ect? also Where You recommend to order from please! I have Found it impossible to locate anything Japanese in my country let alone city. Also Thank you once again for another amazing video.. I have came across a few basic technique and a blocking videos of yours that have given me my most enjoyment while practicing. This one included but its come obvious to me my level of Enjoyment would be even higher elevated with a more conferrable attire. Something as simple But Not So Simple it appears as a Kimono and Obi and Where to purchase Proper ones!
ehm ... could it be you are holding the sword way to stiff ? overall I understand its about common mistakes but you miss all the mistakes you make ! ...
