Don't do this people...variable frequency is not recommended for these type installations...this isn't a commercial/industrial "soft start" set-up...you'll burn up your unit and potentially burn down your house.

I notice the meter is only showing amps when measuring the inrush current near the end of the video. Given the concerns by some viewers, it would be interesting to have the meter show Hz as well, since the Amazon page listed for this meter seems to imply it will show Hz and amps at the same time. If the output of the soft start unit is always 60Hz, perhaps it's just chopping off a slice of each sine wave similar to variable dimmer switches and ceiling fan speed controllers.

Surestart was replaced with SmoothStarter. IMHO big waste of money unless you are solar battery powered. Hard Start kit will work about the same.

Last unit I looked at was $500. A bit steep, but over the long run, I'm sure it pays for it's self in reduced repair costs.

The oil level on the dipstick goes straight across at a lower level then covers only half the dipstick coming up to a higher level. So is the actual level at the lower or higher reading?

If you jam the plug in upside-down enough times it tends to push the whole socket in,I've noticed.

Thank you so much for your video! You helped me fix my crank window that I couldn’t even open for over one year! I did this all in a few hours. I made the same repair previously, but the washer just fell off a short time later leaving my window locked in place. This time I watched your video. I followed your recommendation to flatten the washer and add another washer to back it up. Genius!

The only repair is to put in a charge port plug compatible with your style of charging port every time the cable is removed.

Thank you for the amazing vid! I just had new siding put on my house, and then the bathroom window broke. I was scared to have window replaced for fear the new siding would get messed up. Your video was a life saver, and so easy to do! Because of your vid, I thought to look for replacement parts, and found them also!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😊

I use the blue sanitary alcohol with sugar. It's dirt cheap 70%, It evaporates a lot quicker and it doesn't leave droplets with the added sanitary benefits. One coat is enough.

Must the soldering iron be 25 watts? The ones I’m seeing for sale around me are higher watts, like 60 watts, 30 watts. Thank you
@mysimplefix
@mysimplefix 2 месяца назад
The wattage of a "basic" soldering iron usually dictates the amount of heat that will be sent to the tip of the soldering Iron. Also, larger wattage irons of this style usually have larger tips as well. These larger tips literally radiate heat much more than a smaller wattage iron! Excessive heat applied can damage adjacent components on the circuit board. Things to keep in mind. The safest way to solder on a circuit like this is to use a temperature controlled soldering station, but these are expensive. I chose 25 watts as it's quite low. It's a long winded answer, I know, but you need to know where I'm coming from. So, to answer your question, I wouldn't go over 30 Watts. Good luck!

What type of file do you use for this? IE: course, double cut or single cut? Thanks
@mysimplefix
@mysimplefix 2 месяца назад
I used a single cut smooth file for mine. Unless you need to remove a lot of material (by using a double cut), the single cut smooth option should suffice. You'd need to finish up with a single cut smooth anyways to get a good edge.

Hi there! Great video! Loved the step-by-step solutions! I have a question. My window lock level has not come apart, but it is stuck in the locked position. Would I be able to fix my lock using the same procedure, or would you recommend a different approach?
@mysimplefix
@mysimplefix 3 месяца назад
If the lock lever is stuck, then there may very well be a different issue going on. Possibly with another issue. Not sure what to tell you. 😞
