If you have a US amex credit card, another great way to earn points is to use US rakuten. They allow you to earn AMEX points instead of cash back. So 10% cash back is 10x points which is pretty normal for US rakuten. They often have Expedia 10x points, so you can double dip on that by multiplying your AMEX points for travel and also rakuten. Also there are some companies that work with US rakuten, like lululemon. They just had a 12x bonus and I got it shipped to Canada.
No one can pay there car loan with credit card has to be debit also no insurance company will let you pay insurance on credit with auto pay has to be debit so false information!!
I personally paid my insurance with credit cards. But you are right the car loan. And "Auto" pay does not mean Car related. Autobots do not assemble here :) ~Cris
This may not serve as a legal advice, but tenants have the right to pay landlord with any commonly used payment methods. I, Cris, even went to BC Civil Resolution Tribunal, to have my landlord to accept e-Transfer, as it is a common method of transferring/transacting money in Canada. You may want to speak to a professional to resolve this. ~Cris
@@PrinceofTraveltotally get your point. But I feel like for vast majority of people, it’s not worth picking a legal fight with their landlord, to get some points on their rent payment
We are in the middle of fixing all these issues. Rest assured, they will be addressed. And please send us an email with your intend to cancel your mention or to make changes. When our new system gets set in place, we can pro-rate all the charges. ~Cris
If you spend 500$/month on services like Spotify and Netflix, maybe it's more time to reasset what services you should cut instead of trying to get more points from them.
Why didn't you recommend the Scotiabank Momentum card for paying rent on chexy too? It pays 4% if I'm not wrong, which is more than both options you mentioned. Am I missing something?
You are probably using some ear phones. Try to listen to it with your laptop speak, or desktop speaker. Many earphones tend to raise music volume to match the dialogue volume ~Cris
I see that there was one portion of the video the music was louder than on other parts of the video. We will keep note of that. But 80% of the video should not be affected by the volume much
I just checked my account and I hold a Aeroplan premium credit card and my E upgrades are not valid for 24 months I just reached out to the concierge services at Air Canada and they told me that only in January 2025 they will extend my E upgrades for additional 12 months so it seems like what you mentioned in the video is currently not implemented If you can reach us and give me more information I will appreciate it
Shiomo Prince Hotel staff are rude and no simpathy. But the booking did not have OTP and double confirmation, my daughter accidentally booked the hotel booking but no OTP and confirmation. The hotel had no mercy refuse to refund even I have put up so many many request.
You mean using points award flights? There is always a tax or surcharge that needs to be paid by cash. That is where you can paid your flight partially with credit cards ~Cris
They have an ongoing promotion now to buy points, what ive been trying to figure out is can you buy points to achieve status? Lets say im at 15000 points now, can i buy the difference to get up to 25k status?
"25k" status is just a name, it has very little to do with having "25,000" points. For intends and purposes, let's just call this 25k status as "Silver Elite". Also, even if you are short of any of the Status qualifying segments, miles, or dollars, you cannot just buy points and get yourself reaching the status tier like that. You could earn this "Silver status" with 100,000 EQD though. I understand there are lots of terminologies here. Hope this gets you somewhere to start your research. It's a convoluted industry :) ~Cris
I fly to the UK often from Toronto and I find Aeroplan useless. The points they charge you to use for a business seat are scandalous. Domestic is fine and has great offers but transatlantic is useless. I just use my Amex plat for lounge access and dining/travel credits and then the colbalt for the every day points driver. Then just transfer to Avios.
if you want direct from YYZ to LHR, yes Avios is easier to find reasonable award seats. But if you don't mind a transfer in FRA, MUC, VIE, ZRH, then you can often get 60-70 Aeroplan points for business one way. But I understand, connection flights is not as convenient. But if you wish to use your Aeroplan points, that's usually the main avenue, as UK doesn't have a Star Alliance airlines. ~Cris
I’m actually curious: you mentioned that paying with the TD Aeroplan Infinite card for rewards flights activates travel insurance benefits. Does it really work that way? I thought only the National Bank WE Mastercard covers partial payments, and that no other card offers that benefit. (excluding the emergency travel) A
You are right. But since TD Aeroplan VI or the VIP cards deals directly with Aeroplan, they have made their insurance available to Aeroplan bookings also, if you use these cards to pay for the remaining cash portion of the award flights. Same goes to RBC AVION VI when you book with RBC's in-house "award chart" flights. To confirm, kindly take a read of their respective insurance documents, and look for key phrases such as "A portion of" and of "What" program to book. This way you will have a better understanding for future bookings also. ~Cris
TD is definitely better than CIBC overall, I switch between TD aeroplan and TD first class Visa infinite every year and get the welcome bonus again and again. This is something only TD can do.
I took Ricky's recommendation on the TD Aeroplan Infinite Privilege less than a year ago. VERY glad I did. I think the welcome bonus was either 80K or 100K at the time. So many benefits to this card. I fly frequently for Work and it has saved me a LOT of time and hassle. Now I just have to try and understand the overly-complicated eUpgrades dance, because I now have such things. 😆
Great information! love your channel! Would like to know more on difference between RBC Avion Platinum vs RBC Avion Infinite. What would be the major difference other than the income requirement to get these cards?
The main difference would be 1.25x earning multiplier on travel purchases for the Visa Infinite (vs 1x on fhe Platinum). The other major differences would be in superior insurance coverage with the Visa Infinite as well. Annual fees and sign-up bonus are the same. - Steve
Thank you for extensive coverage of Marriott. I like how you presented advantages and disadvantages of each brand. You say positive things about each of them. It is very professional. Thank you 😊
That is not correct. Only the US Chase Aeroplan card grants status with Air Canada (in the first year, and upon spending $15k in subsequent years). Well, technically there is also an invite-only American Express card which gives 50k status, but you have to be a BIG spender. - Steve
@@PrinceofTravel I did have 25K status the first year I had that card and I never had status. Since getting the card I’ve flown and spent a lot so achieved that and then a higher status organically.
Do I have to use TD Aeroplan Infinite Visa card to buy Air Canada ticket in order to get free check bag? What if I use other credit card to buy the Air Canada ticket, can I just show my TD Aeroplan card to get the free check bag?
Yes you can. But please be aware that airlines policy can change, and we bare no responsibility if they decide to change. It is still best for you to confirm with them directly. Thank you
A typical Air Canada redemption for Toronto - London (YYZ-LHR), round trip for 2 people in business class, is over 500k AP points + $1000 in taxes/fees. That's roughly 14 TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite sign-up bonuses. Yes, you can fly for way fewer points, if you spend a bunch of time deal hunting and maybe get lucky and find a one-way redemption for like 70k/person. Then good luck booking a flight back? Maybe book an overpriced one-way economy ticket LOL Or, you can *somehow* fly enough AC in 1 year to get 25k status for both yourself and your travel companion, then both spend an entire year's worth of eUpgrade credits (+ select benefit eUpgrades) to get waitlisted for a *chance* to get upgraded to business after already spending 270k points (+$1000 in fees) on Premium Economy seats. The Aeroplan game is not what it's cracked up to be.
You are spot on. Now, think about this, if it is that easy to use the eUps and easy to find good deals, don't you not think it will hurt their bottomline? Airlines still want to make a profit by selling cash Business class tickets. If it's so easy for everyone, then there is no more need to sell cash fare tickets. On the other note, Air Canada is one of the few airlines that make ALL of their cash-available seat Available for points redemption, albeit, at a crazy inflatted dynamic pricing, but for those who have lots of business flights, accumulated tons of miles, say 1-2 million in a year, it is both the passengers' and airlines interest to make these seats available for them to redeem with points, even for 400k YYZ-LHR, just so they dont have to pay cash out of pocket. Loyalty program from airlines are meant to reward frequent flyers first and foremost. Casual users like us are lucky that a program such as Aeroplan exist. You do need to be patient looking for deals, but not impossible. I have personally redeemed 1 mil+ aeroplan points on all NON DYNAMIC priced flights all in business and first just this year. If you try to understand its behaviour, Aeroplan is the best program on earth for sure. Aeroplan is a huge topic, and there is only so much we can educate people online. One needs to have lots of hands on experience to appreciate and respect its power. ~Cris
Better strategy is to buy an Air Canada gift card at a grocery store with the cobalt card to pay for the fees or cash fares. Some freshco in Toronto has them. I also maximize other gift card purchases (gas, apple, home depot, etc.) with the cobalt cards at various grocery stores. Freshco, Metro and Longos in Ontario 👍😀
This is the worst idea ever. You don't realize that if you don't book directly with your credit card, bye bye all the medical and travel insurance perks. You just fu**ed your trip.
Caveat for Amex is that not every merchant accept Amex. Altho, if you have multiple Amex cards, you can combine credit limits into one, so that you can plan a big trip with only one card. TD Aeroplan also have more airports that are included in the benefits. Both cards are comparable otherwise
@@NASTYVIDS most major airports in Canada have Visa express lanes for security checks. Amex benefits are pretty much only available at the Pearson Airport in Toronto. Also, Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege gives you 6 lounge passes (usable worldwide), while Amex Aeroplan Reserve doesn't. Nevertheless, you can still use the Maple Leaf lounges in Canada for free with both cards, but note that you can't access those overseas unless you travel business.
Incredibly frustrating to hold a CIBC Aeroplan Infinite Privilege card, paying a high annual fee, and not have the opportunity to level up status. Air Canada and Aeroplan should be ashamed to be treating Canadians this way.
They probably won't include auto status in the Canadian cards. As there are already way too many elites in Canada, overwhelming their lounges and the upgrade list already. The main market for Statuses and Business class seats is for business travellers who can organically reach elite status by their own flying. Even in the US, there is no card that grant elite statuses for airlines except Aeroplan 25k, which is an entry elite status to bring US flyers in, but that's all. ~Cris
Imagine if grant statuses so easily to everyone, can everyone enjoy the benefits of the status? If everybody gets special treatment, then nobody is special. They already have lots of elite status holders by genuine flying, these cards are just to grant people's access to their lounges, which the US also has similar products but none of them have "Auto status" except the Chase Aeroplan which grants "25k" status only but that's all. That's to bring in US flyers to Aeroplan system. Therefore, TD/CIBC/AMEX will not grant auto status to Canadian users, because they simply don't have to. Hope that clarifies. ~Cris
