I think it would depend upon your routine and where you need the reminder. For example, some people might benefit from having a list of discussion points they manage throughout the day, but have a scheduled check-in time as a couple in the evening. If it is just about overall better communication, you set an intention to practice with yourself or a safe person on a daily basis so it is a newly built habit. In the 12 steps, there is a step (10) in which "when you were wrong promptly admitted it" and a personal inventory is done at the end of the day and the corrections are done the next until we can learn to do that in real time.
Goodness this is good timing. I was just thinking this morning about the balance of letting myself feel and also having some discipline -or practicing self discipline! Good points!
I love this! That's why I always try to listen to whatever they want to tell me. I always say listen to the little things now, so they'll tell me the big things later. 💜
