Many people in Grenada live a better quality of life than some people in developed countries. (I am not speaking of material things). Many people in developed countries are one pay cheque away from homelessness. Grenadians do not live in slums. Grenada does not have a high homeless population rate. Many Grenadians living abroad in developed countries may not want to disclose their economic struggles. Yes, there is poverty in Grenada but seeing poverty in the developed countries is a real eye-opener.
Many people in Grenada have access to basic health care but in places like the United States many people do not. If you do not have health insurance in the United States it is extremely difficult to pay out of pocket. The health care services are available but if you cannot afford to pay, you are still screwed. Sometimes, people with health insurance cannot afford the co-pay and are left with heavy medical debts which affect their standard of living and credit. Grenada, United States and many other countries need to have a better health care system.
Did you say waiting an hour and a half in the bank? 😮 wow! It’s good to hear the reality though especially about transport. When I was in Barbados and also St.Kitts, people did drink and drive which wasn’t great
Thank you, Jai and Jamila. This was so informative and inspiring. I just bought Jamila's book and joined the Facebook group. I've set my intention and will be manifesting Barbados in the future. Can't wait!
What a beautiful country even after the hurricane it's still beautiful. I hope a lot has been done by now to fix the situation. Nice country, thanks for the video
I have been fortunate to have visited Guadeloupe a few times. One time I rented an apartment in the home of a mother and her daughter in Trois Rivieres in Base Terre. The people of Guadeloupe are very friendly and welcoming especially when they know that you are interested in the culture. The music of Guadeloupe and Martinique (one vacation in the mid-1990's) is great! On our first visit to Guadeloupe in the early 1990's we knew nothing about cadence and zouk, but we leaned quickly. Thanks to the people of both islands for their hospitality and their music.
Beauracy in St Lucia is heavy. Banks are the worst, the latest thing I've been told by my bank in st lucia was if someone does not have an account with your bank they cannot pay any money into my account - total nuts - First Caribbean Bank.
Dear Zoe Smith. First of all thanks for this open and honest detail opinion/explanation what to look at when one would like to choose for Grenada. I've visited Barbabos, St. Lucia, Martinique but always been told that I should visit Grenada and really want to. Appreciated if I could contact you for more questions. My Google email address to be found easily Robbert van Gom Neumann, born in Surinam and now living in The Netherlands, Europe. Thanks and have a blessed day!
This is so important to me and the first time I'm hearing like minded people discuss the topic. You got a follower out of me from this alone. Thank you so much for this quality information.

I can chime in here for information as well: Low priced land on mainland-inland. Low cost prepared meals by local folks, such as hot meals for $10 or $12 BZD per person. Like, stewed or fried chicken with veggies and rice & beans, etc. locally grown vegetables and meats are affordable. Utilities ( house) can very but are generally “ reasonable “ High prices are new vehicles, imported foods that Expats want or expect. Fuel ⛽️ is at $13 BZD per gallon ($6+ USD) Lower cost mechanic fees for repairs on vehicles. Lower cost labor for home upgrades and renovations. But in that, it helps to have local friends or family to negotiate the terms!!! Often, once local laborers realize they are dealing with foreigners, their labor cost may be “ elevated and over inflated “ unfortunately. Labor results can very by the crew or individual working. Sometimes taking much longer to complete!! Sometimes incomplete! Then you may not find the workers again. Never pay money upfront before a task is completed! There are exceptions to this however based upon trust and solid relationships built. Most Expats come here to live frugally. With that said, Belize is a wonderful option for retirement. Keep your home country bank account (s) for security. Eventually open an account in a Belize bank too, after meeting the requirements.
Hi I am looking to move to Dominica where my family is from and I have somewhere to stay. Howver I will need to find a job or start a business I want to start a business in agriculture. What advice would you be able to give me
Hello! I will be going to Grenada in November and I am so excited. As a person that lives there, do you have any suggestions for towns/ restaurants/places to visit?
IF you are intending to MOVE TO THE CARIBBEAN PERMANENTLY!!! You BETTER GET INFORMED PROPERLY!!! BORN in TRINIDAD, now working in SWITZERLAND, but intending to RETURN to RETIRE. HOWEVER, I LIVED in TRINIDAD and got my essential education there, SO i KNOW THE LIMITATIONS THAT EXIST!!
Hi Joseph. I moved to Belize from U.S. two years ago. A good place to start gathering information is a YT channel named “ International Living” by Laura Difandal. ( spelling?) She provides accurate and reliable information. Check out all of her videos.
Thanks a million for this discussion... after traveling for over 20 years and living here in Bogota, Colombia the last 5 years, I too have that inner spirit telling me "Another change needs to come"

#ZoeDarlin', how flexible is it to create "PERMACULTURE" on the #Grenada? Are there also existing "PERMACULTURE FARMS" you can buy as an "INVESTMENT"? Finally, what about #EcoTourismRetreats? #ThanksDear
@@dreamstarworld1 you can definitely create a permaculture farm or ecotourism retreat but there aren't many/any available to purchase off the peg. Happy to talk to you about options though - zoe@theexodus.co
Wow your guest and I have some things in common: The way she spoke on her love for both the tropics and city life. I feel the same. Also when she spoke on her love for English cultures, I am reversed. I am in love with French culture and countries . I plan to start visiting them so I can continue learning French. I want to expat to Guadeloupe, Martinique, reunion or French Guiana .
