The Rogue was on my list to get.. I hope my car is not on the list.. Also, I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee (that wasn't a hybrid) for a loner vehicle once and I really liked it but I tried not to drive it too much since I live in Denver and people drive nuts.. I never even heard of that VW TAOS.. I had a 2001 VW Jetta that someone told me got bad reviews.. I had 245,000 miles when I got rid of the car but yes I had lot of problems.. The engine and manual transmission was great.. The only thing is if I did not downshift at the right times it would get stuck in gear.. I had lots of exhaust issues.. I had lots of radiator fluid leaking issues and I had a lot of sensor issues.. Also, if I hit a pothole I would have to replace a tie rod.. The air conditioner lasted until I got rid of the car even though it could have used a charge.. With all that said I still loved that car.. I had the VW bike rack and the VW enclosed ski rack.. I had the sun/moon roof (that was kind of fussy too.. i had to have it in a certain spot otherwise it would mess up my hearing).. i had the heated black leather seats.. the car didn't handle the best in the snow.. getting good tires was key for that car.. name brand tires and one off brand that i really liked was Uniroyal.. it had a great sound system.. no blind spots.. i miss that car.. oh yeah.. the heater worked great as long as it didn't get below freezing.. especially if it was below zero it would hardly put out any heat... infact, the car would take forever to warm up.. i also had battery issues when it got below freezing.. it was very important to take the car for a ride when it got cold.. just idling wouldn't charge up the battery..
Some used car stealers will list cars using low price, get you in an then hit you with "must haves". Must use their financing, must have rust proofing, Paint protection, $ 999 admin fee, etc, etc. Then they'll act offended if you refuse... The audacity...
The only difference between a hardened criminal and a car dealer is the gun... They both want your money. Stealership practices haven't changed in decades. Addons, fees, musthaves, etc, etc. They'll add thousands and thousands to the price of the car. Some of the things are visible and some are not. I looked at my bill once and quickly realized that the final price was too high considering what was included. So I added up things on my own and noticed a $ 3,250 in "invisible" addons. Imagine, taking money from us like this, hoping we would not notice.
EV: Quiet, convenient, quick, far lower maintenance costs. Gas: expensive, less acceleration, much higher operating costs, inconvenience of fueling at a dirty gas station. Slightly lower purchase price.
I still recall when the Automobile Dealers Association's in Ohio, Texas, etc., proposed a bill that would have prevented Tesla from selling directly to the public! Clearly they were threatened at not being able to up-sell their cars if consumers can just order cars and pick them up/dropped off. Ironically, Tesla is now in Texas....the state where once upon a time was against Tesla. Too funny.
I have a 2009 Corolla that was originally in my dear late mothers last car and I took ownership of it shortly before she passed about eight years ago. It has sentimental value to me as well and just hit 300,000 miles on it and it runs so well I have taken very high maintenance care of it and drive it gently. Very little issues other than just a radiator and oil pressure switch and two ignition rules And regular maintenance. The brakes are currently have 220,000 miles on them and still good. My issue currently is I have a lot of back end body damage on it and my liability only insurance won’t pay for repair and I just don’t know if the car is worth fixing 😔
No. Not buying a car with a CVT. I keep my cars for 20years or 200,000 miles. I expect no major repairs. I do plenty of maintenance to ensure no catastrophic failures of my automatic transmissions and engines. I feel I cannot count on a CVT.
Why would anyone even consider buying an SUV with a small 3 cylinder turbo engine? Or complicated deactivation systems just to save a few pennies here or there? Nothing beats simplicity and proper displacement for a given size. And, are 10 speed transmissions really necessary? What's wrong with 6? It's unfortunate that the KISS, keep it simple stupid!, principle has abandoned much of the car industry.
Hello bro, just wondering if you can help me understanding this point as I am overseas and want to buy one but I need to know the difference between 2022 rav4 hybrid and the 2023 Prime XSE plugin hybrid ? Does the latter also have the petrol engine charging the electric one while driving? Or I should only charge it by the plugin cable? Could you please answer this with some classification as I am overseas from Iraq and need to take a careful decison regarding this. My best regards and wishes.
I was able to talk to a dealership employee and found out that they’re marking up each car by $5000. I found this out because I was trying to go for a job and ended up befriending one of them. This is at a high scale dealership that’s quite popular. A Toyota one 😤
Excellent and educational video. I am presently in the market for a 2024 GLE 350 Mercedes Benz. Been to one dealer so far, and was overwhelming. I have a 2020 Acura RDX for trading, it is well kept and Carvana offered me the best price. Mercedes is telling me that it comes to the same since I am also saving in taxes. Really!!! When I did my own computation both ways, I found I would saved save more by selling to Carvana rather than the trade. Agree, except the Ford F150 and Toyota Tundra. Both have current issues with reliability. However, any turbo vehicle is shaky, since turbos usually go. I recommend not purchasing any turbo 1.5l engine for the Honda CRV. WHat about Mazda?
not an expert reviewer, you don't go into technical details or present any data. all I heard is basically "really bad" and "not really good" which are really good opinion. good effort though.
Son has a 2018 Rogue with 120K miles and it runs fine without any issues. Fit and finish isnt good. Visibility is poor and range is a little short between fillups on long trips. I'd give it a C+.
I was looking to purchase a Prius Prime plug in. A 2022 with 20K, cheapest I could find was $35,500.00 OTD. Not a terrible price considering all things...you like to think anyway. But in 2022, this same car MSRP was $33,750.00 + freight/pdi and HST - $5,000.00 for the government EV incentive. This car out the door after incentive was somewhere around $36,000.00 in 2022. So now presently you can sign for a 2024 Prius Prime SE for $43,000.00 OTD which is cheaper than a second hand 2023 - the catch is the wait time. Depending on the dealer, you can wait well over a year for one. Where i think it makes sense looking at second hand is if you're buying a Tesla Model 3 - these things drop a lot in value. ($33,750.00 + $1850.00 x HST - $5,000.00 incentive
I’ve owned at least 15 cars, only one was German. A 2004 VW Jetta. Worst car I’ve ever owned. It was falling apart inside and mechanically by 100,000 miles. Still looked pretty good though.
I went with the CC AWD Hybrid. For the engine noise! So I know when it's running! You NEVER feel it! Outstanding acceleration, -7s 0-60. 70+MPG, though I always hypermile. For another $2k+ I could have got the better instrument display and all the shitz I don't want. LE...😊
Question for Mazda people. How does the mazda 3 turbo compare with the mazdaspeed protege. I want the fun aspect of a Miata but idk if 2 seats will be sufficient, and idk if I’d ever trust getting in an accident (I have previously recovered being paralyzed waist down and fracturing my spine in 7 spots) I def don’t want to add extra risk by getting a tin can strength car, but how are the mazda 3s performance/reliability wise compared to the protege
All the usual suspects 😂 Went with the '24 CC AWD Hybrid. The software was developed in a developmentally disabled refugee camp somewhere in Chicago or China. Amazing stuff 😵 Drivetrain is excellent. Software said I got my worst mileage on a trip the gas engine never even started 😮 going to the calcs myself. Apparently upper 70's... 700+ miles 7.51 gallons.

My mechanic told me the Camry has the engine burnt out issues. It happened a lot to the taxi drivers' Camry! I am the owner of a 2015 Toyota Echo with over 500,000km, no issues at all. A car guru friend of mine recommended a Honda Fit for my next car. He said it was like the Echo, very reliable.
