Hello there! I'm a composer and sound designer who's worked on games like Hyper Light Drifter, Destiny, Freedom Planet, and many others. This is the place where I help people get an awesome and enviable job in the game industry.
Hi Akash, i´m interested on knowing which type of computer should i have in order to work professionally in audio integration for videogames? do i need a powerful computer if i work for videogame companies that develop complex games? like EA, Epic games, Activision, etc. Thank You very much.
Not at first. Literally anything that can just run basic audio software like Reaper is all you'll need at first. Eventually, yes, you'll want something more powerful, but if you're just getting started, that won't be necessary for a long time.
OK I'm curious about BirdBird from what I seen it records on the background and you can drag it to the actual recording after. My question is does that apply to narration or is it just instruments? Since if it was able to be used with narration I could easily drag my correct lines down and leave the mistakes off my actual recording. I'll save me time on the long run.
Criminally underrated channel. A lot of these music channels don't teach anything besides the basics to be accessible, but i find your videos to be not only extremely informative and niche but also extremely understandable Super high quality content!! You've taught me a lot (especially with layers... I need to use them more!)
I am 16 and live in NZ and I recently came across sound design and it really interested me but I have no skills in the area so i would like your suggestions on what programs or software I should try and learn and what degree you would recommend. cheers
very interesting! ..although will be hard to fit all this in 10 minutes 😄 sounds more like an 2 to 3 hours thing if you stick with all the points each time.. and then you still have to eat and shower etc. how much time do people have in the morning??! 😳 so to me doesnt sound very practical unfortunately
Every programmer I knew said they cannot find a reason to not use an audio middleware. It really depends on the project, but it mostly a free powerful tool that could save you too much time, and bring more joy. The decisions you made ultimately determine how your project would turns out, as a audio person, if a developer approach me and refuse to use middleware without a good reason, it's a hint that they cannot make good decisions on most of the thing. It's hard to evaluate something you don't fully understand, so you could always consult experienced people, your peers, people you might work with to get more information.
Beautifully succinct argument for using middleware! Particularly in how the help standardise the way we implement sounds into the engine, without having to learn much new for each project. Great video!! Thanks for making it!!!
Thank you so much. Due to ignorance, I tried again and again to correct a file in MP3 format without success, it was as simple as using a different audio format. Regards from México.
I've done two game jams. Both times half the team droped out. Weeks of time wasted. I'm consdering working with students doing game dev in colleges instead?
@@AkashThakkarAudio Well, I've been writing songs or music for 35 years, just finished an honors degree in audio and music production, I have my DAW and Native Instruments and east West and Spitfire ....Learning Fmod and the wWise...Building my own website and business cards ordered...I'm mid fifties now and If I made a regular income on any level of game audio I'd be over the moon.
Hey I love the channel! I'm an electronic musician trying to get into sounddesign, does anyone have any advice? Where can i get in contact with people who might want to hire me? I'm good at making sounds, but what more do I need to know to become a sound designer? Any advice is much appreciated
For global sampler you can put it in your monitor fx instead of the master track since a lot of people never use monitor fx and you can forget about it. I don't really get the point of Content Navigator.. how it different from just using the track manager?
Yup! I show that Monitoring FX off in another video. Track Manager is fine, but the content navigator is infinitely faster when you have hundreds of tracks.
Damn, finally got around to trying this and it didn't work out well. I basically can only get scratching noises. Even a heartbeat is really faint or not perceptible at all. Wondering if I did something wrong, but I bought the exact same parts and don't really see how I could have screwed it up. I used a Behringer C-2 for the mic, but everything else is the exact same.
Neat. Just getting back up and running for game audio. Thanks for sharing it all. This is going to be way more fun than my last game audio project(~5 years ago), and I used regions for most of that.
Thank you so much for this video, I have used Reaper about 10 years and now I gonna enter into this whole game development world as a Sound Designer. I thought that so good compatibility just doesn’t exists, but I found your video and that made my life a lot easier c:
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🎻 Consistent practice is essential for success in sound design, akin to preparing for a critical audition.* 01:51 *🔄 Consistent, daily practice, even in short increments, is more effective than sporadic, lengthy sessions.* 03:14 *🎶 Seeking feedback from experienced professionals accelerates learning and improvement in sound design.* 05:05 *🚀 Focus on input rather than output during practice sessions to facilitate steady progress.* 06:42 *🥋 Expect that your skills may initially worsen as you explore new techniques, but improvement comes with consistent practice over time.* Made with HARPA AI
would love to see these features in bitwig. :( mainly use bitwig for sfx because its super fast with the grid and modulation stuff, but when it comes to exporting and bouncing its just a big horror.
@@lucienmontandon8003 The paranormal FX router script for Reaper is more comparable with FX grid in Bitwig, but if you are looking for an equivalent to Polygrid for modular sound designing, then I'd recommend the free and open source plugin Cardinal.
somehow when i save in reaper the files that i have changed are not getting refreshed in fmod. I have to bounce the files in reaper again, then save. Checkmark under FMOD setting (render files when reaper project is saved) is checked. any ideas what the issue could be?
