I fish this lake a lot and Large Pickerel are definitely there. I caught 3 the smallest was 23". That lake also has a tremendous amount of Perch as well
Hey Michael do you mind telling me what lure you used to catch the pickerel at hempstead? I went two times with crankbaits and flukes in late summer and did not get any hits. I want to pick up some info from someone who has experienced success in this lake what lure, the retrieve style maybe time of year? Any info would be appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read this.
I fish this lake every so often. Your dominant species (in numbers) in the lake is yellow perch. Top of the food chain (in size and numbers) is definitely pickerel. There are bass in here, but more likely to encounter a large pickerel.
@Chrystian Ciccarello For pickerel? In general Ive caught them on just about anything in my bag.. my personal preference is a wacky rigged plastic worm or senko. In this lake, its one of the few lakes you can throw a spinner bait and not catch a ton of weeds.. worth a shot.
no its not its illegal to keep them. No one is gonna say anything to you if you fish for them. I been fishing for bass for 20 years as long as you dont have one in your livewell your fine.
its a closed season , its illegal to target them . The hudson has its own section in the regulations guide. I too have been fishing the river along time . I just didnt want you getting a ticket.
Dont see what the big deal was. Everyone piles up in the creeks to jig bait. Boats next to you dont effect you from getting herring. It comes with the territory....side note, you could of got your striper right there fishing the herring weightless on your bass gear.
Megabass channel has sum good footage of the gong in action, the way that blade sounds against the gong is so awesome it adds flash but the sound of it clanking against the bait is something different
Nice video. I feel your pain. You got off a little cheaper than I on my last adventure. Great production, I love the background music. Nice fatty at around 5:30. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed the coverage. Pre fished Champlain towards tail end of your tourney (thursday-saturday), launched out of Crown Point Friday. 4 footers. Challenging to say least. Our tourney for Champlain Series launched out of Ti so opted not to make run all the way north. Mistake. Odd TI Fishing didn't factor into this one but that end of lake was way off. I fished Thursday Mid Lake and found a couple pigs on beds, but those vanished on tourney day. Ended up with 2.5 pounders-good call on not fishing mid lake even with lower water temps. Think your coverage is great. By the way from NH and also know RC. He had same issue with Lithiums and charger fishing with me one day on north end last year. Tight lines......
hey bill, yea I dint even practice on the TI side wish I did because Thursday was great weather to make the run there no wind no waves, but from all I heard TI wasn't fishing right. I focused on the north side also I wish I would of found some bedding smallmouth cause day 1 of Turney was perfect conditions for sight fishing. anyway it was my first time fishing the lake its so vast its hard to cover everything I practiced a lot in missoquie bay and never ended up even fishing it on tournament days haha.
I've caught my largest bass in this big lake a week ago I'd say at 5.5 pounds I've got the video on my channel proving it. I'd love to do a meet up and do some fishing with you if your ever back in the area.
Same problem I had with the cover craw, when I went to the smaller one, I hooked up a lot more consistently but i love the whole concept and everything about the bait so I'm for sure going to get it figured out and working for me! Good vid!
I like unboxings.. It is like Christmas all over again. I like the chatter baits and that monkey is one wild wake bait. I subscribed and liked, hopefully you can return the favor. I agree, those Live Target baits are so realistic. I love my 13 Concept reels. I have an A and (2) A3's which I trick shopped two of them. Good luck with your new gear!!!
I've been interested in that 13 inception reel myself, Awesome price point and i like how it looks all stealth like....instead of all shiny and flashy etc...👍
Great tip about the fludder spoons, Those megabass gong or kongs are awesome im definitely going to grab one just for the collection. Great video brotha ~Screamin Drags 🎣 JC
try out the mustle baits D-stroyer... look good on a jig and texas rigged. when you see it, it will have the body of a D-Bomb but it has baby rush hog legs on it by Zoom. catches fish too
Would prefer you to show close up of your rigs. Give me a close up of the jig head and swim bait. Stick one while explaining techniques would be a plus.
