This is almost making me miserable. Hopefully this time next month theyll be up far enough to get them on a private stretch my brother in laws family owns. I barely even fished once it was over because nothing compares to it. Ive been nonstop tying jigs and flies. I love the ones that have a ton of purple on em with the reddish pink
I would say a day or two after should be pretty good. These streams can get real tough when the water is lower and clear. You want it to be stained. One time I did struggle in higher water here, so I think there's a happy medium between high and low that should be good. IMO water levels are not that important, it is the clarity you want to pay attention to
Damn that sequence at 11:00 was intense. No commentary just focus. Would probably make for a good short. I've always imagined bull trout fishing to be long days fishing big rivers in BC hoping for one bite. This seems closer to brook trout fishing at home. Cool to see.
Completely locked in! Haha. Before I went out west, that’s entirely what I thought bull trout fishing was like too. I definitely would love to get back there and try the bigger river game too. That’s how you get the giants
Dang I don’t have one. I’m guessing my chances of catching a salmon or trout are low if I’m only shore fishing. Thanks for the info though, I really appreciate it.
I did NOT watch this video, not worth my time based on title. I like the last two comments, true facts. But what bugged me, as Im sure others noticed.........that's not a salmon dude...........head shake face slap.
I’m sure there’s much better spots. This was just the closest spot for me on the way back from Canada. I hope I get back someday and try some other spots
It is better to hook and loose a fish, than to be sitting on the couch. and having never hook it at all. Any day you can get in the creek and hook those fine fish, it's a great day. Thanks for sharing.
Finally got around to watching this video. This trip was sick, I hope to do a similar trip soon. I think the reason you were only catching small fish was because the big fish are normally deeper in the summer. Water temps are super important for pike and the bigger they are the cooler water they need. The 40+ inchers will spend their summers around cold springs or deep water living pelagic. You should target deep weeds in 20-30 feet of water and toss or troll big lures on heavy baitcasting gear. I recommend the piscifun alijoz 300, a lot of musky guys have started using it, decent inexpensive reel. Good luck out there!
Thanks man! I tried offshore for a while out there, just couldn’t get bit. The smaller lake I fished for pike wasn’t charted so I felt like I was fishing blind. Would have been nice to know where any ledges or weedlines were. I’d love to go back and try some other lakes in the area though. I know they all have huge pike, just definitely need to put some more time in offshore
The largest Joe’s Fly. I think it’s 1/4 or 1/3 ounce. Black and charetreuse. 12 pound mono leader. I highly recommend using fluoro though, I was just using what I had at the time.
@@TheMasterCaster I know. The water had to be 75-80. But then again, our creeks are only creeks with summer runs and the fish fight like crazy. Scams will jump 12 feet at times. Winter chromes and kings are lethargic. I've caught many steelies that were just dead weight.
