Fire in the sky, outta the blue and into the red depths Time for you and I to try to fall asleep in the bed they've made us All came crumblin' down tears in her eyes as it rained confusion The whole world has changed I don't understand How one can kill a man In the name of peace That's ridiculous They say eye for an eye so they fire in the sky and they come outta nowhere Time for you and I to turn on the big screen see what's happenin' And as those children die pawns in the game of collateral damage The whole world goes mad Standing here on quick sand The more we fight we sink And vengeance gives us hope At least that's what we think At least that's what we think, coz As we make amends by Getting our revenge We sort nothing out Just add to the doubt And with God on both sides Death is justified Whatever the name Then we're all to blame So as the spirits fly To honour those who've past We've got to get along While the time still lasts Bury the hatchet deep So we all can weep And heal all this pain So, so we can live again So, so we can live again coz As we make amends by Getting our revenge We sort nothing out Just add to the doubt And with God on both sides Death is justified Whatever the name Then we're all to blame I don't understand How one can kill a man In the name of peace That's ridiculous But I understand That I will defend My family from Both sides of misery
Uncle john is phenomenal but the basic timing and consistency of the drummer is dedinitely a key part of the performance i keep looking over in my drunken state
Seen them/him 4 X.. saw him in 2015 I think at a tiny ballroom in Des Moines.. maybe 350 people sold out. It was an omage to him and the band because we literally stand ovated them after every song.. he was at a loss for words and that folks is how it should be.. you pay and see a band and they deliver in the ZONE.. pay em with electricity and vibes that springs them into the next level of music.. John has a gift, one of which is connecting with other people with music! TY
This is allegedly a happy song, but the lyrics are very deep & emotional. For me it's just about the irony in goverments and authorities letting citizens die in redundant wars ("The more we fight we sink"). I don't want to start a political argument here but the song's lyrics kinda remind me of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "How one can kill a man in the name of peace" - that sentence just sums up the ridiculousness in the terror attacks towards Israel ("They say eye for an eye so they fire in the sky and they come outta nowhere") in the last few years by extremist muslims because of old arguments that are still going on, and how the Palestinian goverment supports them backstage. However, the Israeli goverment change nothing by sending their best children into a useless war in which both sides get casualties ("And as those children die, pawns in the game of collateral damage, the whole world goes mad). What we get is a never-ending sad situation. That's at least my point of view of this song, i'd love to read some interpretations but again, don't want it to become a full-hatred political argument. Peace & Love.
No matter what, war is terrible. It's inevitable, because well, we're human. I like the way you perceive the song. I see that it can relate to the conflict in Syria. Assad killing his own people, the US and Russia bombing both sides. I am not against the military in any way (I plan on serving), but there are just some wars we shouldn't get involved in. War is terrible but never changes. I love this song too much to get into politics, but you were spot on with your example!
@@Moleskineman In my opinion, there were more chemistry between Birchall and Barker than Birchall and Bomba. John Shannon and Michael were musically unbeatable :)
