Just two LA video editors trying to give honest reviews of films and discover films from all over the world. First stop, India. Where should our film journey take us next!
Stay honest guys. Ed went a little far with his opinions sometime, but he has a right to them. A movie should make you want to study about something you don't know. If it doesn't, then it's not your fault. Bhansali movies are a visual treat and the story may suffer because of it. However, the traditions, dances, songs, costumes, and sets are near authentic because he does a lot of research and shoots on location wherever possible. This movie suffered because some extremist organisations from the Rajput community assaulted Bhansali and destroyed some of his sets. They also threatened to behead Deepika, even placing a bounty on her (yes, they were ready to murder a real woman for a mythological one). So you can understand the kind of pressure they were working under. The film itself may not be everyone's cup of tea because Bhansali had to make numerous changes, cut a lot of scenes, and extend several other unnecessary ones to keep that community happy. Probably why you found it boring. Enjoy the visuals, ignore the story, is my recommendation.
I like Ed's reactions. He's honest and funny, especially when he's completely wrong about some things and says them so confidently (about the cgi for example). He's not afraid to look stupid.
The movie was so "popular" that the director was attacked and assaulted on his own sets and the lead heroine was threatened with beheading for starring in it. Some communities take their mythology very seriously. And no it's not history. The names are real but the story is 100% fictional. Don't believe anyone who says otherwise.
I love this movie so much. The palaces, sets, costumes, and names are as close to authentic history as you can get. The first half of the movie is set up to establish the Rajput culture (they don't really bother showing authentic Sri Lankan or Khilji culture but anyway). PS: The story is not real though. Khilji and Ratan Singh never met in real life. Khilji never even stepped foot in the kingdom while Ratan Singh and his wives were alive. Ratan Singh was killed by another Rajput king and his wives allegedly committed suicide shorty thereafter. Still the music and amount of research that went into creating the visuals is worth watching.
So you watched Manjummel Boys and immediately started watching an SLB movie? Don't do reactions if you're too tired to do so. I understand that farming views from India requires you to put out videos frequently but this is just being disrespectful of your audience and especially the movie you're watching. Btw most of these shots were at real locations and not CGI. That's the actor's real hair and yes it's real fire. SLB is a legend in the Indian film industry and any criticism of his work should be from a place of honesty, not some cheap video monetization tactics.
Women committed jauhar ..they didn't want their dead bodies to be disrespected..we still see these stuff happening in this day and age...Hamas paraded the naked raped mutilated bodies of jewish men and women. It's the same mentality for the infidels. And Christians (the colonial powers)did this too btw..they would reap the breasts of women and violate them..historical context is required
People there is no need to hate on them ok if they don’t like the movie or don’t understand it it’s okay explain it to them insted of plain hating on them
Why are people criticising them does everyone needs to like the movie or something atleast they are very honest about it they are reacting it to show their perspective of the movie ok people
This film is actually a linear narration of a historical event. So not having any background of the actual event can put one on the back foot. Bahubali is a not a historical story though and the fact that it is told in nonlinear fashion though makes it more interesting. Please ignore the -ve comments. Sinhal (the kingdom of which Deepika is supposed to be a princess of) is Sri Lanka of today and Shahid is the King of Chittor which is north west of India (in the state of Rajasthan). The details of this movie is in detailing of sets in terms of architecture, language of the script & the difference in music which is different when they show the king of Chittor and Khilji. In India every state has a different language and art and culture, folk music and musical instruments. So it is sort of hard to understand historical films without understanding all this. Having said that, you guys might enjoy Bajirao Mastani more than Padmavat but I also feel you will be stunned by the ending of Padmavat because it is cinematically beautiful in my opinion. Most of all this is realife event from way before British colonisation.
i think u guys didnt enjoyed shahid kapoors super gathered children book's king performance, ok, then watch kabir singh and enjoy his incredible acting their
its fine if this is little boring, doesnt mean other historical epics are boring also watch: mughal e azam, pakheeza, maya bazar (1957), jodha akbar, bajirao mastani, ponniyin selvan, tanhaji, baahubali etc
I understood their point but whenever any thinking is required, things go right over their head. They can't even differentiate Ranveer from Shahid and Deepika from Aditi.
As an Indian I love to watch Chinese period dramas and tries to understand every fact and their history, dynasties, costumes and historical governance.I also do research and learn new things. But you guys without even doing research and understanding the facts and meaning of movie giving your ridiculous reaction. And one more thing the location is real
It's not always about CGI, some of these locations are real. This castle is still there where all of these events happened. Some part of the castle is converted into museum and the rest is the just public property.
Man!!!! This is movie is based on true events. Rani padmavati was the most beautiful woman in the history and she actually committed 'Johar' in order to protect herself.
I’m a Rajasthani. My ancestors committed jauhar. I found this reaction very disrespectful. This is a historical movie, it isn’t to make fun of and enjoy. The reason you found it boring is cuz you don’t understand historical movies. Gosh
@@Zoe-fq3tmmore like there’s not much plot to work with, that’s a given fact. But people here are more pissed of them borderline mocking the culture and tradition aspect of it than the movie itself. The movie was average, basic plot but artistically pretty
This is a story that everyone knows because it's in our history books. It's like books made into movies, what's the point of that? we know the plot there too. The point of this movie is the last act by the ladies and bringing the Alauddin that we only read in books to life. Rani Padmavati was the Mona Lisa of India. There is no comparison but just for your understanding. About the slave's character, we don't know if it's a preference or the conditioning from the job of being a slave, where he has been asked to do anything and everything. Also there's an element of psychosis in both him and Alauddin.
Pls react to drishyam and drishyam 2 the whole compilation of those two films is an amazing story !! You'll love it and your mind will be completely boggled
Can't you guys understand bisexuality exists in ancient time also? Is that too complex to understand. Are school or college drop outs??? Alauddin Khilji is a real person. Read about him and other characters. If you are watching a historical cinema you should need to work on its history before going into that film.
I think you guys went in to this movie with the wrong expectation. This is based off a poem and has been modified very little to suit the narrative. This poem is hundreds of years old, and it’s a slow burn, but it’s focus is on the dialogues, the culture, the people, but not the cgi, which isn’t that bad. Some of the shots you said were cgi were real, but you thought it was cgi coz of how epic it looked, that it looked fake. I think you needed to do some homework before jumping into this one. So this reaction wasn’t very professional. But I get it, it’s hard to grasp something you’re so unfamiliar with.

im sorry but this crossed so many limits, when you have such minimal knowledge about us and our culture, the right thing would be to not act entitled and just observe and learn. If you can't do that, stick to Hollywood films.
