In St. Albert there is no bad area. It just depends what's area is more in your budget and if the home fits your needs. You want a larger yard buy older....
I moved from BC to Alberta. As sopn as my flight landed in Edmonton I was homless for the next 4 yrs. One of the most repressive right-wing gov't on the continent. I made my own joke about things here: Can you name the capital city of Alberta? Edmonton. Wrong. Huston Texas. Province without social services of any kind except for the affuent. Gov't throws people out on sidwalks to live in tents and they suffer the constant harasment by the cops. If you're poor you're d I
Hi Evan. I bumped into your mom the other day at Sobeys. I’m your kindergarten teacher from Neil M Ross. ( Ms. Perra). So wonderful to see you on RU-vid. I enjoyed watching your video and congratulations on such an amazing job featuring some of the best neighborhoods in St. Albert. Warm regards to you and your family. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences to help people find their own prefect home to buy.
why are you even producing this negative video about St. Albert, I would not use you as a agent and I live in St. Albert, downvoted. Does Rivervalley know you did this video?
@@wishteria234 because I believe people that are moving here deserve to learn the pros AND the cons to make the best decision for their family. Not sure if you actually watched the video, but it’s not really that negative 🙂
I wouldn’t live in the north end of St Albert if you paid me. Believe it or not Grandin has my vote. Btw the amount of infills being built should tell you something.
What does fully renovated mean it's been updated all repairs have been made no polyb pipes or asbestos new roof? New windows for entire building If not what age is building When you renovate a room or condo the entire condo not building has to be brought up to present day building codes it's law.
@@nonasmith2405 the unit itself has been fully renovated. From ceilings, flooring, kitchen, countertops, backsplash, appliances, bathrooms, closets etc. Hope this answers your question 🙂
Racism isn’t just by white people bud. People of all ethnicities can be racist in our woke culture and it’s called sin😉. Only Jesus can set us free from prejudices and have love for our fellow human beings.
I have nothing bad to say about Sherwood Park! Also a great city with many of the same benefits of St. Albert and lower property taxes. Thanks for commenting
@@svenjohnson2389 Living around snobby arrogant people is worse. On top of that, The past few years there's an up tick in crimes in that city now its unreal. Reported and unreported incidents.
Very good! I'm from Brazil and I'm planning to move to St. Albert. Probably in 2025 and I will contact you to buy our house. I followed you on Instagram.
Hey Evan, my friend, I'll be moving to canada in December. Just got my PR, and I'm excited, and I'm still undecided about what province to settle in. I'm coming in from Nigeria. What do you advise?
Alberta has affordable housing, cost of living is reasonable, and the economy is strong. British Columbia is an absolutely beautiful province, but life is generally more expensive there. Those 2 provinces would be my top recommendations for you, each person will have their own opinions and it depends what you are looking for and what type of employment you are seeking.
@Evan_Cochlin thanks for the response, bro. I'm with the medical field... I'm edging towards edmonton ATM. I was just 70% on my decision previously... but with your alberta suggestion, I'm now 90% .Wish me luck. If I decide on edmonton, please, where would you recommend a fresher starts off? Re: affordable housing for rent. I'm married so,just coming with my wife.

1:30 Without a shadow of a doubt, the reason why Calgary will and should always cost more than Edmonton, is location. Calgary is a 1h drive to what is generally considered one of the, if not the most beautiful locations in Canada, The Rocky Mountains. Edmonton is a 4h drive from anything that isn't a flat farmers field and for a lot of people, that just isn't acceptable quality of life. Also, Edmonton's airport is probably the worst set up in any city over 1m people, possibly in the world. Edmonton's airport has very few international destination, almost all trips travel to Calgary, Vancouver, or Toronto, unless you're going Cancun, almost guaranteed, you have a layover. The same is absolutely not true from Calgary. Also, Edmonton's airport is a 30+ minute drive south of the city, and get this, even if you live on the South side of the city, it costs $75 each way in taxi to get to the airport. That is actually attrocious and unacceptable, but won't be fixed for another hundred years due to bad planning. Compare that to Vancouver, you can take a $4 train from anywhere in the city to the airport in half the time. Much like most major cities in the world.
I agree that Calgary's location is better, being so close to the mountains and having more options at the airport are both very nice. However, many people are willing to drive the extra 2.5 hrs to the mountains and take a connecting flight when traveling if it means saving 200K on the price of their home.
I love the older neighbourhoods and the character homes. I’m sad to see them tearing down the old houses and replacing them with infill houses. I’m currently house sitting a home on Balmoral Drive. They called it home since 1960! I love the history of that neighbourhood and always feel privileged to house sit for them every summer. Lacombe park is my favourite spot of all though. I hailed from Bertha Kennedy Community School. Thanks for taking us on a tour of the beautiful community I’m proud to call home. Great video as usual Evan!
Eventually the old homes need to get replaced to rejuvenate the neighborhoods. It may be a bit sad, but I see it as a good thing long-term! Thanks for the kind words my friend 🙏
@@Evan_Cochlin I suppose there is some merit to that. Eventually things will wear out, and sometimes out with the old and in with the new isn’t such a bad thing. Times change and dynamics change. Sometimes I have to embrace it whether I want to or not. Have a great day Evan and look forward to seeing your next video.🙂
Is it possible to buy property in Edmonton as a US-born citizen? I live in Houston and travel to Calgary/Edmonton often for business. I like Edmonton more than Calgary as a summer city (although I also like Banff being close to Calgary!)…looking to buy a second property there for the summers to escape the intense heat/humidity here in Houston from June-September
At the moment, non-Canadians are not allowed to buy residential property in Canada unless they are studying, working, or refugees here. Winter in St. Albert is identical to Edmonton because they are so close together. Calgary is also very similar however it usually doesn't get quite as cold because its farther south.
St. Albert is similar to Okotoks, Airdrie, and Cochrane in that people who don't want to live in the big city tend to move there instead for a little more peace and quiet.
@@Evan_Cochlin Año these places sound great, even for retirement age people like myself except for the cold winter including St. Albert....even Saskatoon....
@@dovygoodguy1296 There is a large population of retirement age people in St. Albert. It's a great place to spend the summer. Many of those people travel south to dodge the harsh winters... but of course that is not cheap these days.
Evan, is St. Albert governed by Woke lunatics like Calgary and Edmonton? How is St. Albert for older retirement age people, including infrastructure to handle an influx of new arrivals?
I’ll be landing in Edmonton in July, switched my landing zone from Winnipeg , did I make a mistake? Also would you be interested in having a chat? I’ll be a new arrival from London Uk
Personally, I am not a fan of Winnipeg. I think you made the right decision. Happy to have a chat, reach out to me at my cell anytime +1(780)221-9232 or schedule a call directly to my calendar using this link - calendly.com/evancochlin/introduction-call

In the 90's we liked St. Albert because it didn't have so much commercial traffic and houses were affordable. We liked all the big stores in Edmonton and it was a short trip. Now the big stores are in St Albert which made it crowded, expensive and takes for every to get around. My mother was mugged and her purse stolen on a trail near St Albert center. I know people that have had cars broken into and windows smashed. People in St Albert just don't report crimes like they use to. St Albert is just a small Edmonton that is more expensive.
