I agree with Damon regarding when normal large frame is not a good place to start. Large frame, medium and small are different practices at least as I learned. Large frame YCF is dantien centered movement because that's how Qigong for health works best. Basically for-health YCF is Large frame Yang movement with medium frame power and center(lower dantien). Yang large frame as I was taught is wide and deep into earth and is required to be strong for the other frames to function well. Medium frame trained without first gaining depth in large frame will have no power but still look cool to observers lol. Small frame will be weak without proficiency in both Large and Medium frame engines like some raver kid moving his chi ball around. Each frame can be different sizes meaning I can do an expanded medium frame or a smaller Large frame because what matters is the core of movement/change not the size of the movements. The reason Large is wide and released at least martially is to be able to harness more earth, we let force pass to the ground and force is generated from the ground through the feet etc... In my system this is just a requirement to learn and use medium frame which is a requirement for small frame. It's not just details lost from being too small it's about an entirely different engine. I also teach elderly or for health higher stance and dantien based. I have not lost hope for you yet Matt and I think we both can learn from each other our upcoming exchange in Seattle. In the case of CMC I think he did legit small frame because he was advanced and it was easier on his body when he got old but it was not just a shrank Large frame as Damon suggests. I am not here to troll just stating truth as I know it from my own 30yrs of experience with the hope to expand your understanding not to contradict that which you or SIfu Damon already know.
Vaporizing kun and li. This one technique is what cultivates the zhen qi. In zhen qi yun xing a large potential is first built up under the heart and then moved to the ldt. It's more of a downward movement only in zhen qi yun xing and then ldt focus only.
Do I contract or squeeze everything so I get stiff like a scale cause i can't just imagine my head being pulled and it doesn't feel like anything happens, where do I even begin to stretch my whole body being stationary?
He is the son of Yang Luchan's first son Yang Fenghuo. Not much is written about him by the family (as if he was written out), but he is mentioned in Tung's book and a book about Zhang qinlin.
I had all kinds of magazines, T'ai Chi, Black Belt, Inside Kung Fu, etc. I kept them for years and years because I hate to throw them away. But when it was time to move, I already had 20 boxes of books, and I had to decide whether I was going to turn that into 30 boxes. I kept a few that were special, but most of them didn't make the cut.
You can see a side-by-side comparison here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lvJclY2Auc4.html Personally I think it's a very interesting topic! Similarly in Chen style there are differences... be it the different schools in the village (even the 20th gen is quite different from 19th), or the different Beijing lines, Dajia and Xiaojia etc.
Hi Matthew, I would like to make a comment if I may, on the originality of the Yang style. I am a practitioner of the long form taught by Fu Zhong Wen 85 form, although I began learning the long form, from the Yang Family of Yang Zhenduo's 103 style. They are both ''original'' but interpreted differently by the disciples of Yang Che Fu. There's another direct disciple of Yang Che Fu, by the name of Dong /Tung Ying Jie, who interpreted the long form with variations on the transition foot pivot. There are some fantastic performances of this style of long form by the son of Dong Ying Jie, Tung Hu Ling 1953 and 1960's on RU-vid, you might like to see and compare the variations. I would like to say that I do enjoy immensely, practicing both mentioned variations of the long form. So, I would not personally go as far as calling one variation of Yang long form as more original as another. Yang Chen Fu's disciples interpreted the form as was taught to them by the master, but somehow put their own identity on the form with regards to certain transitional movements and perhaps applications of movements. The form evolves through the times, and I would think that the form taught by Yang Luchan has been altered, to what we have today available as knowledge that has passed down to us by his disciples or members of the Yang family. I would say that Yang long form of 85, 103, 108 is the foundation together with the Chen, Wu, Sun styles of the modern short forms of the Yang Beijing competition forms.
Thanks for the message. I am just going by what Fu zhongwen told us, that he basically never changed the form (85) from what Yang Chengfu taught him. There are other people that felt Yang Chengfu changed the form (to 103) for the public as well in 1930's.
Felt it too felt like spiders walking. Note: i do not practice thai chi i practed only dan tien breathing. Afterwards i felt those tingling in my hand everytike inwalked before the dan tien practice i did not feel it at all.
Wow. so he also studied Wudang Sword respectively with masters Chiang Jung-Ch'iao, Huang Pai-nien, Wu Chun-shan, Liu Pai-ch'uan and Huang Yuan-hsiu.@@YongnianTaiChiUSA
Matthew. I used to have such great respect for this teacher, but his conduct recently shows him to be quite arrogant and quite dismissive of others and he has minions defending him ( this to me is a massive cult red flag), I am not expert enough to know if its chi deviation and I will leave my eyes and ears open as is the Dzogchen tradition. but from a Samsaric view its clear he doesnt have much of an understanding of Buddhism, Dzogchen or even his own arts he teaches, gimme Waysun Liao over this guy any day of the week, but thats just me
Great stuff again Matthew , thesedays what or who would you say are authentic Tai Chi .. I personally think Mizner is woo woo fraud. I do like some of Damo's stuff, but all I have really studied in Depth is Waysun Liao and Nils Klug and a Chinese teacher who wishes to remain anonymous lol
I read Damo's books. I don't hate these people, i just dis-like the false advertising. I get it, they are full time teachers and have to make money, but doing it in a virtuous way would be better than shady suspect demos and spoken pontifications. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7OYmMYuEtUY.html
Hi .. this is my first time learning of nei gong .. I wanted to comment on the other video but comments were turned off . I wonder if you would chat with me? I had a spontaneous awakening and a lot of things happened. I’d rather not say everything publicly maybe. But I’ll say I run Delta dominant the majority but I can go gamma/beta or alpha theta . I noticed on the other video that you mentioned a few things that I do , things ppl don’t know what I mean. If I make the ball in my stomach and push against it with , idk it’s like a muscle below my bellybutton, things happen. The drooling or saliva thing has been happening lately like I feel like I can’t even keep it in my mouth if I’m meditating I know I just don’t care really if I do.. should I be caring if I do? There’s other things too
Hi Liz. Swallow the saliva it is a alchemical ingredient. Sounds like you are doing well. Try not to attach to much to what happens in meditation and neigong/neidan. if you generante the heat in the dan tian and feel it up to the head, then stop and just do silent, quiet sitting and enjoy the fruit of your effort. Non-doing. Wu wei.
