Yang short form (37) of Cheng Man Ching was a student of Ye Dami, later Yang Chengfu and Zhang Qilin. From Zhang he learned Zou Yifeng's neigong. 37 is characterized by straight back, beautiful lady hand, internally soft, simplified movements, more square in shape. The 85 form taught by Yang family disciples is rare and less known,, it if more rounded, flowing, comfortable, solid internally, back slight forward, lotus palm style. the 103 of the yang family association takes the 1930 public form of Yang Chengfu to what is now their 'Standardized" association form. it has the extra shifts, feels rigid and square, must meet the strict standards of the association. Less free internally as you must make external shape of posture.
