Hi, love the effort you put into great production, it makes your videos a pleasure (& easy) to watch. I've a question; the things you're calling 'stretchy hooks' between the pegs & the guy points, where did you get them (& what are they called?)? As you'd imagine, while googling 'stretchy hooks' provides some 'interesting' ( 🙄) results, none of them look anything like what you're using. Cheers, John

Make sure y'all check river height and river warnings for floods. Fasstest rising river in south hemisphere, 2nd fastest flowing in world. Very dangerous if you dont realise,always put marker at water/bank and check every couple hours. This applys anywhere on turon river. Beaut7 spot,well worth it.

Great review, thanks. My wife & I are considering 'upgrading' from tent/tarp/esky camping (that we've been doing for the past 45yrs & still enjoy) to something that is easier ie. easy to depart home, easy to setup & packup etc. We are struggling to envisage ourselves in a caravan so one of these pod campers might be the go. Can I ask the following: has the company been good to deal with? If you were purchasing a Stockman Rover now, what model would you go for? You've been pretty positive in your review, what are the negatives (apart from the purchase cost)? Have you seen the Hitch Canning Pod Camper? Any thoughts on it? Any other comments/thoughts are most welcome. Thank you.

We’ve had our Rover for more than 2 years. We bought the Ultra and don’t regret it. Essentially you need to figure out what is important to you. Some things can be retrofitted/purchased afterwards. Things we would consider essential are: Stone guard (even with it you get quite a few chips), electric brakes, sirocco fans (although you can save a lot by fitting them yourself), extra awning walls for bad weather, fixed ladder if you want to store things on the roof or have a roof top tent. Desirable: Awning and walls for other side (or the person on that side gets wet in bad weather). Fold out exterior shelf is also very useful. Stuff I wouldn’t bother getting: Draft skirt (have never used it). Luxuries: We have an inverter and use it to run a coffee machine and occasionally a blender. It takes up a lot of space but we like having it. We also have the 12V AC. We have used it as we didn’t have the sirocco fans. Now that we have those, I suspect we wont use the AC much (it’s very noisy). Having the 240v system is nice, especially if you are at a powered site (and don’t need to worry about batteries) but we haven’t done that much. Stockman/Camperact were very flexible and helpful during purchase. We didn’t want the stove and so they swapped it out for a solar blanket. They were also great to work with as we wanted a RTT (which needed a specially made platform) and wanted a different tap for the sink. Issues we’ve had: to preface this, I think things will break/come loose in all camper trailers if driving on our outback tracks. Awning walls tearing at the bottom connections (we had our reinforced) and not long enough to reach the ground (only an issue if you have the 30 sec dome tent and Stockman now sell extenders). Vent fan broke (Stockman are sending us the part and they have changed to a different vent, I assume as a few of us have had issues). We’ve replaced the stabilisers as we lost some of the plastic feet. Put larger washers to hold the water tank. Added a clip to fridge door (door fell off on very rough corrugated road). After service with Stockman has been great. They are easy to contact, give great advice and fix/send parts if required. We recently have been a little disappointed with Camperact who have been difficult to contact for a service. Basically, work out what is important to you and if you can trial one. Also Carl has setup a great public facebook page where you can ask other owners for their opinions facebook.com/groups/229238723080107/

Hi Phil, Sorry for the late reply. We love our Rover and also went straight from tents. It has been such a nice transition from lugging around a tent and sleeping mats. Stockman has been great, we haven't had a lot of contact but of what we have they have been lovely. If we purchased again I would opt for the same model, the intrepid, in the middle but would probably upgrade the battery and solar setup. It's hard to pick negatives unless you are being really picky and being our first caravan/camper we have nothing to compare to, we tend to just adapt to things, but the 2 dissapointments were the fridge fan which I mention in the video and the roof lining has come away in some sections inside the cab which I forgot to mention but nothing horribly bad. I believe since we bought in Nov 2021 they have made a fair few changes to a few things so it could be different now. I have not seen that camper, there are so many on the market these days. We just simply fell in love with the Rover and decided on that, I recommend going to view a few campers that interest you because originally I loved the Sherpa by BRS off-road but when I went to view it I didn't like it at all, just not our style so I think its a personal choice. Anyway, good luck with your choice and enjoy whatever you decide on :)

Hey guys, thanks for your channel. I have narrowed down my search to the stockman explorer. My question is have you taken it on serious off road drives and have you had any issues with your van at all. The manufacturer says it can do 90% of the Australian roads, what does the other 10% represent. Regards Jan.
@roverinroundoz
@roverinroundoz 9 месяцев назад
Hi Jan 😊 we have taken it along a few deeply rutted roads, nothing serious as yet. We did break the plastic foot on one stabilising legs in a big rut but it doesn’t really affect it.. have you watched our Rover review video? Only issue we have had is with the fridge fan. I think they say the 90% thing because of the location of the spare wheel underneath… it makes the clearance a bit lower 👍

Loved your video but would love to see the annexe set-up. We have looked for a video or photos on the annexe but thete is nothing that gives you any idea on how it works. We are very interested in the stockman explorer but the only thing that is stopping us is knowing how big the annexe is, is it waterproof, is it strong quality and does it actually connect to the van so you dont have gaps. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Michelle.
@roverinroundoz
@roverinroundoz 9 месяцев назад
Hi Michelle, We have filmed the awning setup over the long weekend and it will be posted up tonight. But to answer your questions.... yes the awning is waterproof, it is strong quality but still canvas (we had ours rip in a storm but I fixed it with an extra screw and some fishing line), there are gaps! If you want to be totally out of the weather with no gaps for air or bugs this is not the setup for you. Checkout the review tonight and hopefully it will help answer questions for you :)

Yours is older than ours by a week 😀. We got the same as you did but did add the TV inside which has been amazing for us when the weather was bad and we had to bunker down inside. I upgraded the 2 batteries to Lithium and installed a Redarc BCDC40 amp charger in the rear so bypassed the original PWM solar charger. The fridge fan on ours was wired the wrong way so sucked in rather than out but I quickly fixed that myself. The stone guard is a must along with a set of Rocktamers as we have some stone chips on the toolbox doors as well but not as bad as yours! Don't forget the NSW meet and greet in October!
