Over my 61 years I've caught thousands of cats with a simple suspended bait rig. Still outperforms santee and all I've tried. However i find the santee rig gets better quality fish. So I've been using it religiously. The most important thing is im having fun with all the variables and still killing it.
A mono leader tied to swivel ran thru the tubing and down thru the bullet weight with a double or triple knot and then crimped off. Much stronger to pull against rather than only the grip of the shrink tube.
I watch and was amazed how simple this is. But I wondered? Why ain't he just using a heat gun? Well I got all the supplies, made my first one and used a heat gun....and now I know why he Didn't use a heat gun....lol. Awesome video and thanks!!
Using 50 lbs leaders to the hook is crazy. I troll Beaver Lake for stripers and use 20 lb mono. I use 17 lb mono for leaders, as I can’t break 20 lb. I have to wrap my whole arm 4-5 times and pull like the dickens. Using 50 lb line I’d have to cut it, which I hate. Thirty to forty pound stripers will swim up 50’ to grab a bait. Best to change their mind before they head back to the top of submerged tree tops. Sixty four lb 8 oz striper was caught at Beaver in March of 99.
Should be a 5min video Look in shallow flats in the back of creeks. Also, it's navionics - like navigation not like Navy And it's a bridge piling, not a pylon. Sorry, I'm just easily pissed tonight
Maybe there is. This way just something I throw together that worked well. The shrink does hole it all together. I’ve used them a bunch over the years and haven’t had any issues other than the do seem to bend where the foam meets the lead. It’s doesn’t hurt anything structurally and moves through the water straight.
Tip, keep the heat shrink in the blue part of the flame, otherwise you can burn the heat shrink. Going to try this out, but I will use my heat gun and not the lighter.
Hey man there’s a reason patrol cars have the red light switch in the unit. The red light actually helps you retain your natural night vision(also helps you see in the car but doesn’t let others see YOU in the car lol but we talking about fishing here) so if red light works the best to keep the bugs off then that’s kind of a good thing if you have decent night vision. Plus it turns a hot & sweaty night into a romantic hot and sweaty night 👌 😂😂 jk but yea red light helps you maintain night vision!
This aged well… population lowest we’ve seen, with bag limits added (which I’m not complaining about), and more people gunning for perch than ever before, on this small, once overlooked mountain lake. …hope you’re enjoying the clicks
