Wow!!!! Amazing find!!!! My uncle got cable in early 1979 and i can remember watching nick vaguely at that time. I lived outside Columbus at that time and the cable system that carried nick was new as well. I remember America goes bananas which i really liked and watched quite often. Unfortunately my family didn't get a VCR until 1981 so i don't have or know anyone with any footage. It would be a gem for sure!!!! Needless to say im glad this footage exists and while i do vaguely remember this shows existence it left such a little impression im not surprised no one in 79 remembers it. Here's to more footage in the future!!!
Yes, I do remember that after the days programming was done the star channel came on with the sound of a few beeps. That was probably the satellite changing position I later found out. I also remember hocus focus vaguely as well. It was an overall better show than by the way but still the same premise or idea. This show seems to be a dry run for the ideas hocus focus later did more successfully.
Yeah, I believe so. But once in awhile the other promo with the kid in black and white would be shown as well. I think the mime promo showed more often than the other one.
@@tvguy1979 I loved to watch VIDEO COMICS during that period.. basically just readings of DC comics.. green lantern,, alan strange.. sugar and spike the original RUGRATS.. warner still owns that show,, so it won't be on paramount plus anytime soon..

I was a Music and Sound Editor for this series. It may have been a low rated show, but it was a reason why Nick won a Peabody Award for Children's Television. The Martin Luther King episode was cited as being an example for educational television. We had a small staff and freelance writers. So glad people remember specific episodes. We had two historic figures for most episodes, contrasting within a theme - Scientist Louis Pasteur and Social Scientist Margaret Mead comparing Hypothesis and testing. Malcolm X was paired with President Lincoln, Charles Darwin and Lenin's revolutionary ideas. While the look is old, I'm still proud of what we did. I wish Nickelodeon hadn't turned into a cartoon channel that perpetuated stereotypes that I saw last month with the grandkids.

Dc comics heroes on nickelodeon sounds weird. I always thought cartoon network was dc comics home channel (yeah i know batman tas was on fox kids first, and then were reruns of batman tas and superman tas until jetix)
