couple years later. Just wanted to mention that trucks from the next generation after this one (GMT K2XX) with the same 6.0 / 6L90 combo are starting to pop up at reaasonable prices as well.
Bought an 05 with 160,000for 5000$ and was rear ended and insurance paid me 8000 to fix it which I did myself was just a bumper and damage to my topper and bed were minimal and now has 280,000 and was just hit last week by a tesla and now waiting on quote for more slight damage. No motor or trans problems ever and its about to get me paid again other than the daily 3 hour round trip to work that it helps me to get paid. This truck has been a blessing that keeps on blessing
My '19 L96 is THIRSTY, but if I do the math the gas only cost about $1000 more than diesel would per oil change. During that time, the diesel would need more expensive maintenance. And that's not counting ridiculous exhaust fluid... 6 speed is definitely a game changer.
I bought a used 09 wt 2500 last year with 105k..does it have afm/dod that I need to address? This is my work/ personal vehicle that I need to last me and just want to get the most out of it by avoiding major problems
See now for me I've always preferred this body style and then the 15s to I think it was like 19 20 before they went to the other redesign or some of the best looking ones cuz I never really cared for the cat eyes so I must be an odd man out which is fine but I do agree that these are probably some of the best gases for the money
I have a 2016 2500HD with the 6.0L gasser. It has 24,000 miles and I love it, I tow my 33’ camper with it, works great for what I need. I plan on keeping it forever.
12:10 - You can't tell me your truck isn't shifting to 4th and 3rd on hills. Aside from vvt there isn't a whole lot different between an LQ4 and L96. Heads would be a disadvantage because they are designed for higher rpm. Intake might be part of the equation since the later 5.3 intake also makes like 10ft lbs down low. Doesn't make a ton of sense. My 05 2500HD cruises 70mph at about 2500 rpm and at that rpm it should have enough power. If I had to guess it could be due to slight aerodynamic advantage of the GMT900. Still sorta mind-boggling. That said an extra OD and a shorter 1st for my truck would have been amazing. And yes the 1500 6l80e trucks have tcc issues due to them locking up in almsot every gear and when the motor is in CD mode for fuel economy
Good video, hard on gas, but reliable and tow great. Mine has 267,000 miles ! Burns a quart of oil per 4500 miles but outside of that it'd very comfortable
Just bought a GMC 2010 sierra 2500hd with 176,000 that looks like new. Single cab 8 foot bed not a scratch on it. Paid 11 grand. Gets 17 mpg hwy. 14 towing my boat. Smoothest power ive ever felt.
I have a 2012 ltz crew 6.0, nearly identical to this truck. Bought it brand new then and currently only has 68,000 miles. The only thing I've done to the truck as far as mechanical issues has been hub assemblies, brakes, rotors and exhaust manifold replaced. I have a leveling kit on it, larger tires on factory 20s, led lights all around and a single magnaflow muffler and pipe. I don't drive the truck much anymore but when I do, it blows my mind how many people talk about it and even try to buy or trade for it lol! I have an 02 2500hd with 269,371 miles, all original with the 8.1 that still gets drove at least twice a week and my daily driver is my 2022 2500hd with the 6.6 gas and my 2 older trucks are by far my favorite and probably always will be!
GMT 900s were when quality really started getting bad. That's why I went with a 6.2 f250. 220k miles of all off-road oil rig service and 10,000 idle hours with no issues. Meanwhile, the 2013 Silverado 6.0 already has a lifter tick at 75,000 miles, and the interior has fallen apart completely.
I don't know is it diesel fuel injection engine. Mine is 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 it died twice and would not start. Replace the fuel pump and it got us home and then died again and has been like that for awhile now 5 weeks. Fuel lines needs replaced and maybe the sending unit.
Awesome reaction 🤣 I’m building a 4.8 right now with a vs racing 7875 in my 2001 z/28 Huron speed v3 ac kit t4. Stock 4.8, ring gap, hone, clevite rod bearings, Tsp 228r cam, tea stage 2 862’s 60cc, fast 92. Moser 12 bolt 6 speed stick car. 3.73 in the rear, looks fun!!
I had a neighbor in the foothills near the Seirra Nevada forest who hauled with this same truck, scrap, cars, trucks and cords of oak or pine up to the top of the cab np. he also filled a 10ft iron bull dump trailer full of oak and hauled it up to the high country up steep hills and switchback turns. great trucks!
I used to think these style trucks were the ugliest but they've grown on a specially with the engine transmission and rear end the whole drivetrain is great that's why you see them on the road I used to be a Ford guy
I just purchased the same truck then I get better gas mileage than I do with my Ranger I used some oil stabilizer Lucas along with their fuel stabilizer definitely notice improvements and you can reset the transmission module it will relearn your driving patterns and just according to how you drive
I got the same fsp but the regal fender liners are closer to the turbo . .wonder how a s400 would fit . Which is what I have now .. I have the cheap China log . Had to cut it n now welds keep cracking .. 🤦♂️
There will be a third one, my buddy and I have been bouncing this idea around. It started as me wanting a 7.3 but 4bt would be easier and I figured it would be more unique. I thought it was a 1 of a kind idea and I look it up and figure out it’s been done.
