Always amuses me when people compare these two bikes. Ones a full on tourer. The others listed as a sport tourer. It’s like comparing a limousine and a grand tourer.

This bike has been fantastic! No issue to report other than Apple Car Play is a pain to launch.

Loved this review. I tested out both bikes and decided on the GTL. The Wing is definitely a category to itself but i enjoyed the speed, power and feel of the BMW more. At the end of the day it is about what you enjoy the most as they both have their own strengths. Radio is definitely better in the wing but i dont like the distraction so rarely use it. Dct for me is cool but i prefer standard. Keep up the good work.

I have been riding more in sport mode which gives the wing a comparable feel to the BMW without the top end.

So the definition of a pillion is actually the position and/or seat where your passenger sits. So when you say that you ride with a pillion you are saying that you ride with seating for a passenger, therefore you always ride with a pillion.

Get a pair of snap ring pliers for the transmission filter. Mine are too long to stand up straight under the bike but I am able to grab the depression in the filter at an angle and the little devil pops right out. Thanks for the video. Though I've changed the oil 5 times I enjoy drinking a cup of coffee and watching someone else do it :)

@@MileHighAdventures Having just changed the oil again after watching your video I appreciate it more as I would not have been able to film what I did with oil all over the place. Almost as much fun as changing the oil on my old Interceptor with all the bodywork having to come off and having to pull the lower radiator out of the way to access the filter. Thanks again for the video.

sitting on the bike did seem an easier solution if you can. I was thinking of centre stand and chocking front or both wheels to reach level

I think that would work if you can level the bike out.

I do not own a Gold Wing I'm looking into getting one. I currently owned two Harley touring bikes. And a BMW touring bike. My question is why the two filters? It's the same oil all going to the same location but requiring two different filters I don't understand?

Excellent night video that really looks just the way it is. The 23 DCT bagger fog lights are default but can be shut off. Seems that Honda agrees with you on low beam lighting. High beam is awesome. Backlit controls are great. I led a daylight ride through Frankin county MA a few years ago and a black bear ran across the road in front of me that led to lots of laughter at the next rest station. Happy trails!

Another beautiful ride. Brings me back to 1975 when I rode through Colorado when going from MA to CA. Unfortunately, I rode my 1974 Toyota Hilux which isn't nearly as nice as the GW. Keep posting the CO rides!

It is curious that you waited to change the break-in oil until you had 4000 miles on it. I've owned 3 new bikes in the the last 10 years including the last one my 2023 GW DCT bagger. The Indian first break-in service with oil and filter change was 700 miles. The KTM 1290 SA had a 600 mile break-in service with oil and filters change. When I bought the 2023 GW the dealer said to come in for the break-in oil and filters change at 600 miles. They said that they recommended that all their new Honda bikes get a 600 mile break-in oil and filter(s) change. This made perfect sense to me (Yes I'm older but not old). I took my wing to the dealer for the break-in work at 600 miles and since there was a great bakery/coffee shop next door I waited. I also had them put an extension bolt (easier access) and 12 V cable for heated gear on the battery's positive terminal. They finished everything in 2 h, gave me an itemized invoice and said to come back at 4000 miles for the second oil and filters change and other maintenance items (see manual). It is just my opinion that any new motorcycle should have a break-in service with oil and filter change between 500-1000 miles. I think dealership services are important while the bike is under warranty. Some dealers won't cover issues if you do your own service during the warranty period. Yeah it did cost me $194 but I enjoyed the ride to the dealer and bakery and went the really long way home.

I would name this ride, especially the hoop de doos, the tail of the stegosaurus. Excellent video and review of the DCT. Have been riding it a year and didn't know it is this good!
@jgoogleheim8880
@jgoogleheim8880 6 месяцев назад
Great review based on real world experience. The older you get the more body part angles and comfort gets important. At 6'4" my back couldn't take the low seating and out front feet of the Indian while sitting high with the knees bent with feet back on the KTM 1290 SA didn't work either. The GW promotes an upright sitting position just as you show and it works great for me. I met an 80 yr old rider on a Wing a couple years back and he said the WIng was the best of all. I agree with him now! The DCT gets it all done while having fun.

I have the 2022 Honda Rebel CMX1100 DCT, and I have to totally agree with you about “Sport Mode”!! Even a smaller bike like my 1084cc is a bit of a challenge to calm the bike down, as it wants to pull quickly down the road!!! The Goldwing is definitely on my bucket list. Awesome video! 👏

Outstanding video and exactly what I was looking for, that is, how does the DCT perform in those kind of conditions? You answered that question on a great mountain road. The DCT appears to perform with total control on descents. I wondered about that. You helped me make up my mind on the new Wing - I’m going DCT! Thanks much.

Just subscribed and enjoying your content. Getting my GW DCT Tour this spring! Couple of questions. Saw on the comments you did bottom out once and was wondering if you have installed a belly pan yet and if so which one? I was planning that as my first after market purchase. Also, I will be doing some two up riding as well and wondered why you have the suspension set for single riding instead of with passenger? Keep up the great content and I look forward to watching more!
