Woodworking, CNC, welding, and more. I make things and I let you watch me make them. I hope you are entertained, inspired, and get some of your own ideas.
Wonder would it be possible to copy that creation with the most basic tools and bitta strength for the bending I may give it a go. What’s the best wood to use?
I really have no clue how you are using that laser level. What are you comparing it to? you stick the pole with the laser in the hole and beep beep beep , It's within a 1/16th of an inch. Please go into more detail on how to make the hole bottoms level.
I am considering an industrial machine. I have two avid machines and I am very happy with them. I really just want an ATC for now. That would really improve my workflow.
I think its important to have a scrap piece underneath the circle you are cutting that the pivot pin actually goes into. Through the template, through the circle and into the sacrifice board underneath. The reason is that if you dont have that pin into an underneath scrap as you reach the point where the circle comes free the pin comes free and the router is free to move away from the circle and ruin the cut.
The rail dog clips (mentioned at 6:00) work best if they are both contained on the INSIDE of the bench dogs. This keeps the rail snug when it is flat on the material, but makes it easy to lift the rail after the cut. I have the Stanton dog locks and they really do work great - basically replaces my need for a rail hinge at 1/4 the price.
Love this, but the MFT Extrusion Kit is $129 but sold out. The two 45" Tracktubes and Hardware Kit are still listed in stock, but purchasing these separately comes to $215. Any way to fix that?
Hey Efri. This is an error on my part for not updating the inventory. I have plenty of the kits in stock and I have updated the website so they are now available. Thanks for watching.
AWESOME!!!! that is the way to have fun removing glue...and guess why i am watching this video lolol i am tired of scrapping and going bunkers because the glue does not remove all the way...thank you for sharing knowledge...fast and easy...
You could have bought a separate atc spindle for the avid cnc like a turnkey s30, or even better a 'rapidchange atc' to keep the same spindle, buy a lets say hurricane blackbox vacuum machine saved yourself a lot of money and work for getting the same specs?
Yes, but, end of the day it's a lot of DIY work, a few compromises cobbling all that together, and ultimately the machine still isn't going to be as rigid as a steel welded frame and gantry system that is then machined on a big gantry to make everything true. For someone making regular money running the tool, selling the AVID and moving up to a bigger machine that is built to be an industrial unit, is going to just be better at making money pretty quickly. For someone like me, I'm torn between getting an industrial unit now, knowing in a year or so it'll be likely making money; or, getting an AVID and run it until we are loosing money then just quickly trade up for an industrial unit.
Hi! Thanks for the great video! Any more suggestion on how to apply it to an already glued down counter top? With no overlap for space to wrap it around….? And a sink that’s already installed.
I really like how you add more functionality to the centipede and it's a shame you don't ship internationally (yet). One niggle though: your demonstration of the original worktop being a bit wobbly is not quite genuine since you only added the lock at the corner points and not in the center. Mine doesn't wobble one bit when all six are locked.
Great video. I installed 3 of these in the past and it all looked familiar. Installing one now (11 years after this video in 2024) and it looks like the mounting design has changed dramatically on these....SO HAS THE PRICE! Just a note for anyone looking at this that the new Larson security type storm doors look like they mount slightly different. I'll likely take a video of that full install and post of course instead of just running my mouth on this guy's great video.
You should develop a system to attach a quadtrack to the top for a fence with a swing stop. Attachment could be similar to the Anchor Dog by Precision Dog and the stop could be similar to or utilize a Kreg, Woodpecker, or Incra stop. I created my own outfeed table utilizing the 20mm dog holes (96mm centers) and haven't been able to find a fence I like that has a measuring tape and ability to add a stop.
I too have a similar hinky with which to contend. I had surmised a similar approach and glad to that someone else out there is as crazy as me 😂 Nice work, sir. Thank you for being the guinnea pig...or is that a hinky pig?
Enjoyable little video but its hilarious how many videos like this demonstrate how to make something out of scraps and do it in a short amount of time. However they all forget that most people who do woodworking as a hobby dont have professional planer thicknesses and table saws, sleds etc so the actual process is nowhere as easy. if we had the professional saws and planers etc. we would probably already know how to make things like this?
