An electronics engineer working diligently on a fascinating project. Every day, I strive to enhance this device further. My ultimate goal is to demonstrate how this marvellous creation runs. I envision a world where anyone can build and utilize this device or even contribute to its continuous improvement. Numerous exciting ideas are brewing in my mind, such as incorporating Wi-Fi capabilities, implementing a user-friendly "swipe" option for possible menu navigation, integrating a plethora of sensors with examples to build apps on top of the existing functionalities and even going further with incorporating RGB LEDs. However, for now, I released the foundational version of the device, as solid ground, upon which I can continue to improve. Wish me luck on this endeavour, and may progress be swift and smooth!
It will take a while to explain everything (I need to make another video). The program is Arduino-based, and I’ve created a library that allows someone to simply write text and add an effect with just 2-3 lines of code-very simple. For images and GIFs, you need to convert them first using an online tool, but again, with just a few lines of code, you can project them either on the front or on both the front and back simultaneously. I’m continuously improving the current version. I’ll also be adding a top PCB so you can connect sensors and use them alongside the display (all in the current bundle). I’m working on an RGB version with Wi-Fi as well, so we’ll see how that turns out. That’s why I haven’t made a video in a while.

Hello there. I do not think I will be adding more discount to the current one because it is already substantial as it is (it will be active throughout the whole summer). But there is an additional 5% or so if you like the product/shop. The automatic discount will be sent to your email/Etsy account so check your spam folder.
Of course, You will get: - PDF Instructions for assembly and usage (lots of pictures) - My Arduino library with examples for easy and fast programming - Arduino code Examples (25 for now) - STL files for 3D printing - Schematics - Bill Of Material (or BOM) list - Gerber files (for ordering PCBs from the manufacturer and also the top PCB assembly option) + NEW (exclusive just for this listing): - New "Orbiter" body STL files - Online app for making and importing GIFs for the hologram - Fast GIF converter for the hologram - More upcoming upgrades and software solutions. check out the description of the listing on my Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1542571614/hologram-orbiter-arduino-diy-print-it?etsrc=sdt&Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1694032537052
Not sure how that is possible. I rechecked the BOM list and the link. This is the shift register you need: 74HC595D-Q100/SOT109/SO16, which is what the list says. You do have 3 options for the same register with different footprints but the one you need is the D package SOT109-1 (SO16). But matter aside, if you have any problems or questions you can always ask me via email and I will be glad to help any time :D
I found the best motor there is for this purpose, it is the fastest DC motor (before brushless motors) and most quietest one. Also, it is inexpensive and it is controlled with a buck converter (which is also cheap). I changed the commutator so you do not need to assemble it on the 3D printer (so there is another easy way of making it). I will release CAD files soon so you can change whatever you want (still trying to make a deal with Fusion360). I have made this basic device the best I can so you can add more to the existing structure (like adding another Arduino on top with sensors or LEDs inside the device, wifi and so on). But all those upgrades are coming soon in the existing bundle only, later I will split them as separate products. I hope I have answered your questions. :)
Heyy got a question i just bought your stuff from etsy and was wondering do the needed parts come deliverd or do i need to buy them myself it is not relly clear with etsy thks :)
I just sell the files to build the device. For now, it is what it is. I hope I will start to send full kit by the end of this year. Thank you for the support, new upgrades are comming soon in the existing bundle 😊
Astonishing🤩 but can you add RGB❓🤔 And support to work as marquee for frontends like LaunchBox? This would be a better solution than LED or LCD marquees like from Pixelcade. The whole arcade community hasn’t catched sight still yet, but tons of free animations for many, many games.
Hello, I am glad you like the device. The RGB version is on the way (with many more pixels). Hardware is done for it but I still need to write more code. I want to add more things for this version before I go full on the RGB. Working on this every day. I already added an animation converter for any GIF you want. :D
Does your board have extra pins to support more LED?? you should definitely upgrade to smaller LEDS and more of them for finer resolution. that would be awesome!!
Expanding the number of LEDs on the PCB poses a challenge due to the increasing density of line tracing required, particularly with a row configuration. Integrating additional registers or attempting to interconnect existing ones to accommodate more outputs becomes a spatial constraint on the PCB. It also requires software changes as well. I've begun exploring an RGB version to alleviate this issue, though it entails developing the entire new Arduino library. Despite this, I'm working to enhance the current single-colour setup as it still holds promise.
I do work on the RGB version too, also with more pixels. Intro of the Tutorial video 3 has more info. Hardware is finished, but I still need to write special library for RGB.
Hi! I might use this for my art project, although maybe it's too advanced for me yet. I wanted to ask if it is possible to connect another sensor(heart rate and oxygen sensor) - I suppose I'll need another arduino -and then that sensor's inputs would determine the text/animations shown on the orbiter. Thank you! Amazing work, I admire you!!
Hello, for now, it is only possible to connect "slow" sensors like temperature sensors or LDR (directly on Arduino). I am working on a more advanced upgrade with two Arduino boards that will handle Wifi/Bluetooth and all fast sensors imaginable. I am a bit slow because I am also working my daily job :/ . But you can connect another Arduino on top of the existing Arduino to process the sensor and then send something on the base Arduino (via Digital pins or even better, send an analogue signal). I recommend using the same power pins for powering that additional Arduino. Do not worry about the mass you put on top, the current DC motor can handle the torque. Also, you can always ramp up the speed/power of the motor to compensate for the additional mass via buck converter. Thanks for the support, it means a lot. If you have more questions ask away and I will try to help. :D
@@HiLight7777 @HiLight7777 Thank you so much for responding :) I will keep an eye out for those updates but don't stress! No pressure. And yes hmm that could be a solution, a way to add those inputs... I don't lose anything in trying. I will let you know if I end up doing it, and give you credit of course!
No harm in trying new things, I hope you will make it (just watch your wiring). If you need any assistance with additions you are trying to implement I am here. You can contact me through email or via Etsy and I will try to get you on the right track (I plan to make it work with two Arduino boards anyway). :D
hello, I just purchased your product at etsy. I wonder. If I can only buy an Arduino Nano v3 with a lower ATmega chip version that isn't Nano Every or Nano 2408, is that okay to work with, and does it have any negative effect
You can definitely go for it. Just check the pins for SPI communication on your Arduino for the LED PCB boards and make sure you connect the IR sensor to the pin that supports interrupts. And for the end change the platform.ini file configuration to your Arduino board: community.platformio.org/t/blink-on-arduino-nano/9188 It should work just fine since it is an Arduino environment. ;) And thanks for the support btw :*
@@HiLight7777 I just send text on your esty acc. Or do you have another way to communicate. I want to have a deep talk about this problem cause I intend to use your research on my wedding party.
@@vietanhnguyen6791 Yeah, I saw your message, I only replied here because I was in a rush. We can continue to discuss this via Etsy. I already answered your question there. 😊
Hello, I am still working on selling the hardware part, expect it to be available by the end of this year. For now I am only selling the files on how to build the device.
If you are thinking about physical devices, the current plan is to start producing the finished and refined version by the end of this year. I am currently building a small micro-factory for the production. That is one of the reasons why I am not uploading videos that often. I am working alone on this, plus I am working on updates for the current version. Fingers crossed here 😅🤞
Your project help us a lot to make our own* for a engineering school project, what i didn't get is how does the pcb rotate but keep the connection with the bottom wire ? Where is the magic ?
Thank you for the support :D, Check my Tutorial video part 1. I have built a custom commutator (like in a DC motor). That power transmission part is called the slip ring. It is an old thing, but it is cheap to make, easy to maintain (at least my custom slip ring) and has low mass. I could have gone for the wireless transmission but that requires more parts and it would have a bulky build and it is pricey too.
Your channel is so underrated 😢. We'll I came to your video by a link shared in a video about top 3d printed projects. And one question does it make annoying sound when rotating. i will use this in my living room.
Yea the RU-vid algorithm is wierd 😕. I have built this device to be as quiet as possible. It has relatively low loudness: 25 - 30 dB which is comparable to a computer fan. I hold one in my living room, and with the TV on I do not hear it at all. You can always lower the spead, thus the sound level without losing much FPS. And the worst-case scenario, you just add some more standard gear grease on the commutator rings for more smoothness. Thanks for the support, it means a lot 🥲.
Wow, this is amazing! I thought this video would have a few thousand view and comments, because this project is amazing! Keep up the amazing work! You deserve so much more attention than you currently have!
At first didnt noticed in the thumbnail its about orbiter. Then i saw the channelicon and clicked it Great to see the animations. Is it possible to make it all around ?
I want to check out for some creator the chances of design a Holo "fan" based design but with an armiliary design... most ideally with 3 rings... and codding the software so even if the rings move in different directions the emited image/video will keep cohesion (shouldnt be hard if each ring moves with similar RPMs)... I could design the 3d pieces and even consider the cable management however all would be a waste without the capabilities of write the code for the leds.)
Building hardware on this device was more difficult than coding, so many challenges were on the way like resonant frequency, power transmission to the rotating part and even fit everything inside and around. Coding was not as hard because it is a 2 colour device. Color RGB should not be that hard too, I am currently working on that. My recommendation is that you learn how to code, it such a useful thing to know in life (it pays well too) 😉
I am new to Hologram and I love Hologram and the idea you created so much! So I decided to purchase it to support your idea☺️! But I’m not able to receive the file 😿 When I finished purchasing it, I received an email that it was unable to be completed. I wonder whether it is a problem with my account or something’s gone wrong with the website.😭😭😭😭
Oh, hello thanks for supporting me 😁. Please do not despair, happened to a few other people too. I was checking my store and there is a pending transaction. It would be best if you waited for the transaction to be verified, that is all. It takes up to 72 hours but it should be ok tomorrow, do not worry 😉
Hmm, I haven't seen this comment, I was wondering what is going on, send me a message to my Etsy shop so we can talk. (The problem can be that the info on the card is not the same as on the profile, but maybe) Contact Etsy support and ask why they have declined you. It sounds weird that they do. :/
hi im intrested in buying the kit but when i click on the "heres how" link that you have on ur etsy page that shows how you get acess to the pdf it leads to a broken website is it trustworthy can we still buy it?
I am selling files on how to make this device. Link from the description still leads to my Etsy shop and it still works. I do not really have time to sell whole kit to make one, I am sorry. But I do work on updates, upgrades and software solutions like RGB upgrade, wifi, slide options, mini apps, animations, fast animation generator and much more. 😅 If you are interested I can send you BOM list trough my Etsy shop.
Hello, the RGB update will be sold separately later on. I put the additional sensor on the boards for sliding between screens - adding even more value to the upgrade (but psst 😉). I plan to put it all in a potential bundle in the future, but not just yet.
@@guts-692 Hmm, well I recommend u start and stick with the KiCad program it is the best open source (You do not have to worry about licences) and to learn how to make PCBs you do need some basic electronics. If you want to learn about Kicad you have tutorials on RU-vid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vaCVh2SAZY4.html&ab_channel=DigiKey
So cool you continue that work ! Would love to buy a more finish product (since I'm bad in electronics) How does it behave if mount on a vertical tube of 50cm ? Is there some vibrating side effect ?
I appreciate your support. Currently, I'm only selling digital files, and I don't have a personal manufacturing facility yet (though I'm working on that too). You can calibrate this device to reduce the vibrations to a minimum. You can mount it anywhere with screws or simply leave it as is using vacuum cups - no problem. I've found a solution for almost everything. I do hope I will produce this device one day as a finished product. Cheers, my friend! 😄
Early bird discount on my files (+ new body STL), the link is in the description of my video if anyone is interested. Ty all, your support means a lot to me, I will continue to improve on this device and make a lot of upgrades and software solutions.
I've just purchased the files. I'm amazed at the work and thought that has gone into this. The quality of the files and information are exceptional. I used PCBway as a new customer and only paid postage for the boards. Bonus! Just waiting on the parts to arrive.
@@3dprintandpaintI'm delighted to know that you value my efforts and are satisfied with the results. 😊 It's important to keep in mind that this device (basic version) is intended to support upgrades, allowing improvements in both its hardware and software aspects. 💡🔧📈 I'm actively working on enhancing it whenever I have the opportunity.
If someone is still interested, I sell the files for cheap (justopensale). I have made a new version of this device which is much more improved and it is well tested with lots of features. Check out my latest RU-vid videos over this link, your support means a lot so I can build more upon this device. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2T9HaX3XtQo.htmlsi=ZkTWcTEmQgcaOETO
Yes, check out my other videos on my channel. I still have to put the last assembly video tutorial (3/3). If you want to purchase the files (with great disscount), the link is in the description, it would help me a and my channel a lot. 🫡
I am wating for the sponsors to reply and to accept the video I have made. I haven't put all the details in that video tho. I still have the third video part to make too. If you have problems connecting everything you have the PDF and schematics in the files. For soldering details look for SMD LED soldering tutorials online. I am so sorry for the troubles, if they do not reply, I will cut the sponsor part of the video and post it in a day or two.
I am waiting for the sponsors to reply 😅. Two videos are just waiting. All instructions should be inside the files. For soldering, you should check some tutorials. You can email me if you have any problems with assembly so we can discuss.
I do not understand the question. I mean the link is for my etsy shop. You should be able to enter trough the link 🤨. If you have problems entering trough the link, let me know. 👋
@@HiLight7777 yes! I asked if I could make it if I purchased it from the etsy store. If you purchase from the etsy store, you can download a PDF file, but I was wondering if the STL file and production method were included in it.😄
Oh haha. If you buy it you will dowlnoad the one page PDF. On that pdf you will have a personal link to whole project. Stl, pdf, BOM list and how to print, gerber files, pictures and so on. And you can alwasy go to that link and download the files. I am adding/improving the files all the time and you have .txt document where I write on what I changed. I am working on animation fast generator next, and I will be placing it into that project too 😁
Well yes, it is, but I was building a new device to test that board and I used the opportunity to film everything. I had a lot of issues with Windows and drivers (I am trying to make a user-friendly device in an Arduino environment). That board is still in the test phase . I will not release that version any time soon. I switched working on the RGB version and Arduino Wifi version. I will release the basic version in a day or two.
Stari, hvala puno na podršci 😁. Triba bi izbacit fajlove na šop danas ili sutra uz veliki popust. Bit ce oko 10-ak eura prvih tjedan dana od postanja linka ispod videa.
