Thank you for this noticeably short video of Canadian National train #R96791-09 going through the Bridgeport Junction in Chicago, Illinois. Canadian National train #R96791-09 is a local train that runs from Markham Yard in Homewood, Illinois to Fordham, Illinois. When I used Google Maps to see where Fordham, Illinois was, I could not find a location in Illinois named Fordham. I presume this is a railroad only location. Does anyone have any idea where the railroad location of "Fordham, Illinois" might refer to? (Posted 14 August 2024 at 0001 CDT.)
I think the layout is really good and video is excellent but am I the only person in the room that does think that weathering is a required thing? Generally I feel that if people would spend as much time on the quality of their scenery as they do weathering cars it would be a lot better. Get that super right then if you have run out of things to do start tarnishing the rolling stock and locomotives. Just my opinion

You went down to Woodland, Illinois where the CSX line from Terre Haute, Indiana joins the Union Pacific line from St. Louis, Missouri to form the Joint (CSX/Union Pacific) Line north to Chicago. The original owner of these three rail lines was the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad. CSX acquired the line from Terre Haute, Indiana when CSX was created by the merger of the Chessie System and the Family Lines System. Union pacific acquired the line from St. Louis, Missouri when it acquired the Missouri Pacific Railroad. At Gilman, Illinois the Canadian National, which we see in this video, crosses the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. Thank you for this video, Frank! I enjoyed watching the video. You caught another Norfolk Southern double stack train at Ash Street Crossing in Chicago, Illinois on 29 May 2024, Is this Norfolk Southern double stack train a daily train? You caught a similar NS train on a previous video at Ash Street Crossing. The coal gondolas on the BNSF powered CSX train are owned by Consumers Energy Company which appears to be an electric power generating company that serves parts of Lower Michigan. The Canadian National train that you caught on the Canadian National's Iowa Division tracks appear to be a local based on its length. @@ElliottWolcott Yes, but not recently. I am not able to get around like I used to because I do not own a car at this time. I also worked during the summer of 1967 as a yard clerk for the Illinois Northern Railroad which was located at 26th Street and Western Avenue. It was a small switching railroad that was owned by the Santa Fe Railroad. It crossed the tracks that the Norfolk Southern and CSX trains are traveling on. It was located about a mile to a mile and a half north of Ash Street Crossing. The Illinois Northern traveled west along 25th Street past Cook County Jail and then turned in a southwesterly direction and crossed the Illinois Central (now the Canadian National) just north of the Stevenson Expressway. It crossed the Stevenson Expressway and terminated at Corwith Yard. IO now live in a south suburb of Chicago close to Thornton Junction. (Posted 4 August 2024 at 2209 VDT.)
That was a long Norfolk Southern double stack train that you caught at Ash Street crossing. You moved to Bridgeport Junction where railroad tracks and the Chicago Transit Authority's Orange Line to Midway Airport meet along the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. You must have caught the BNSF mixed freight at 21st Street. Was that a transfer run going to one of the southside rail yards? The first Union Pacific freight train that you caught at the Kedzie Avenue Metra stop has a nice variety of freight cars on it. The second train you caught at Kedzie Avenue looks like it is an empty ethanol train coming off the Norfolk Southern to Proviso Yard. At Proviso Yard a Union Pacific crew will take the train on its way to a location in Iowa for a new load of ethanol. But this is nothing new look at the old mining operations in the 1800s the silver and gold ran out and everything was abandoned into ghost towns that's what Gary's going to look like the old steel workers should be able to be hired as the demolition crew it will take a long time making and draw a paycheck

I happened to run into a railfan in the Trainland hobby shop of Long Island (where Bobby from The Sopranos was offed) who gave me the details. Talk about luck!
