I saw something similar to this in a diner in Lewiston, Idaho in the '70's as a kid. My two brothers & me put a lot of pennies in them to tell our "fortunes". Similar to a "fortune cookie" that you get with Chinese food. The ones we saw were called, "Ask the Swami" with only a drawing of a "Swami" and no red plastic devil bobble head. Shatner is great in this episode as always.
I am happy to be a part of the team. That grew up with this show. Love the intro and the ending. Try to enjoy the day light. Good scary fun. Take me back to the good old days.
Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But...there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit... a darkside.
Watching as a kid, the inexpensive Cable access effects made it so much more creepy-can’t really put it into words, but something along the lines that it was actually being made by genuinely sinister people in a basement studio somewhere far removed from the glamour of Hollywood 🤷♂️
Sadly the opening intro is sexist/misogynistic and patriarchal which isn't too surprising given it reflects the Reaganist Conservatism during the 1980s.
I remember watching this very video late one night in my living room while everyone else was out. The lights were off and I was appreciating just how eerie the theme is, until our damned old ass tv cracked, and scared the life out of me. I didn't realize they did that until recently, so I just got the hell out of that room lol.
This movie never frightened me, even when I would watch it on the CBS Late Show when it aired. It did make me madly in love with Carol Lynley. Her perfect legs in stockings/pantyhose, in short skirts. Oh my! I do love the film, please don't get me wrong. It is well filmed and acted. Oliver Reed could play the psycho so very well. Even Gig Young was good pretty much every scene he was in. I've not read much Lovecraft. Only adaptation better than this one (as in how good the film is) is Re-animator. The Dunwich Horror is just bad, lol, and Die, Monster Die (loosely based on The Colour out of Space) is so-so, despite Boris Karloff and Nick Adams. I will always watch The Shuttered Room from beginning to end, I love it so.
What the heck? What is this? Martha there's something wrong with our television set. Oh George relax it's The Outer Limits and there's nothing wrong with our television set. But look at the vertical hold and the horizontal hold it's all screwy now I don't like it. That's the show dear they control the vertical and they control the horizontal.

The Dark Side is always there, waiting for us to enter, waiting to enter us. Until next time, try to enjoy the daylight!....

This is a classic it scared the life out of us as kids 😂 still chilling to hear it again... I'd sleep with the lights on in my room as a child 😂... Paul Sparer has a frightening voice.. great actor.. this whole thing is disturbing and very eerie the trees the farm house the river and the fields... all look really sinister.. but brilliantly done.. it's really haunting..thank God I live in an estate.. I couldn't live in the country with no other houses near me I'd be terrified 😂 imagining things.. like the banshee running down the street screaming.. I forgot my underwear ahhhhhhhhhh 😂😂 love your videos ❤️
🙋 I'm actually watching this right now on the comet network. Saturday afternoons they play a few episodes of tales from The darkside. Don't know if it's going to be every weekend thing or what, nevertheless I'm going to take advantage of it and watch. The last time I seen his tv shows was back in the early 90s give or take
