this brings me back to Kanton island in 2007 when our father worked as a police man in Kanton, there are a few people who came to work on it and they becoming one family miss the memories on Kanton
Thank you for posting this. Looks beautiful and interesting. I believe some of the buildings and the airstrip were built during WW2. I keep seeing China in relation to this island, but the United Kingdom and the USA are in “control” of this precious atoll. Would love to know what the occupants/population think about this situation. Thanks again 🙏🏻😊
Our family lived there for a few years, during which time I was born. Our house was at 4 Palm Way. Likely in ruins now, if anything of it remains at all.

I was on Canton in 1975 in support of SAMTEC OL (Apollo Soyus mission tracking). Good assignement. Some of the structures, that remain, look familiar. Good tour!
China will going to develop Kanton Island, currently airstrip and bridge on plan...probably set up satellite tracking station in future....Kanton's location offers strategic advantages to China.....who knows, one one can control CCP
