Hey! My name is Grady, and I cover country music (and folk/Americana/country-pop/whatever you call it) on this channel because I love it, and not many people were showing country any love on RU-vid. I've written for Entertainment Weekly, The Guardian, Taste of Country, and Rolling Stone, but lately, it's way more fun to just cut loose and talk on RU-vid. I try to speak HONESTLY, not just react melodramatically for the camera. I hope you enjoy!
Im getting burnt out on zach bryan. All his songs sound pretty similar. And he puts out way to much. You dont have anytime to gel with a project before hes hyping his next
Still patiently awaiting the day when Mountain Air by Holler Choir gets moment on this channel. Can't sleep on the best americana material outside of Childers forever.
Zach is my favorite artist overall. Luke and Lainey would be my favorite conventional male and female country artists. I'm happy to see all three releasing fresh music going into summer, because things are looking semi-bleak at the moment otherwise.
What are your thoughts on Danielle Bradbery's new single "Broken Boy". It's got some of the most racy lyrics I've ever heard in a country song with "shameless sex every night". (Also, there's a crazy amount of Russian comments on her RU-vid videos)
Josh is on fire right now. Also writer on jellys new release "im not ok" Love your content.Nashville born n raise local musician songwriter here! Always look foward to notifications where you have uploaded!!
It's hard to listen to 90% of so called country music these days....too much of the same beat, same story, etc.. I've heard maybe 10 country songs in the last 5 years that I could listen to.
Really agree with what you said about Luke Combs! He just keeps putting out more good music while continuing to be a solid presence in the country world, with no drama of any kind. I have a lot of respect for that
take the men out of this question and then the answer is yes. to me, again just my view here, the male vocalists in country at least the "mainstream" ones wouldn't know country music if it bit them on the ass. now, the female side of country is getting us closer to the George Straight, Garth Brooks, and Shania Twain era of country (thank god). i don't think we will ever get back to the Hank Jr, Willie Nelson and Co. era of country music sadly but ill take the 2nd greatest era of the genre as a consolation prize.
This summer is going to be a big one between these and new releases from Morgan Wade, Kaitlin Butts, and Lauren Watkins to look forward to! Really like the new Carly Pearce also.
You absolutely have to Zach Top's Album it's called Cold Beer & Country Music it is 100% 90's Country Zach is going to the Moon and will be the next George Strait!
I think it’s time I touch on the complaints about "overproduction" in country music: if you truly want to know what overproduced music sounds like, go listen to Jon Pardi’s "Mr Saturday Night" album. That’s an album that should’ve been a little more stripped down and acoustic. It’s a great album otherwise.
Laney is smokin hot, kind, classy, and an incredibly talented voice. I think the song choices have been terrible (Smoke/Countrys Cool Again/Hang Tight) lately. Her duets and ballads have been amazing. Seems like they’re trying to force uptempo songs but just pick one instead of 3 in a row. Just one persons opinion!
Not a hater, but im glad the Wallen hype is dying off (my girlfriend would kill me for saying that). Its refreshing to see the new wave with real instruments and real feelings. Its been a long time coming but i think we can agree its here and way better than we imagined it would be.
Some of Wallen's stuff: "Rednecks, Red Letters, Red Dirt," "Sand in My Boots," "Quittin' Time," "Me and All Your Reasons," "Everything I Love," "Dying Man," etc. Is such good quality music, and I wish he'd clean up his act and lean more into that. He's talented, and could make great music if he so chose. It makes me sad
I'm sure it's impossible to keep up with all the new music, but I always really enjoy your quick commentary videos on a bunch of new music. I've been personally really enjoying the new releases by American Aquarium, Megan Moroney, 49 Winchester, and Rye LaChance. Keep up the good work!
Hey Grady! Love the channel and just your take on music in general. I was wondering what your thoughts were on Taylor’s Tortured poets department? I know it probs won’t get a dedicated video but I know you are a big fan of hers. Thanks!
I like all 3 of the songs talked about in this video, my favorite of the 3 is probably Pink Skies. Also, I didn’t know Lainey’s album cover was a horse until this video, so I just had a duh moment lol.
