Hi Jeff, I completed my all rounds of Interview at Google on Sep 11 but have not heard anything back from them , I have sent the mail to them but no response , nothing . Interview went good (thanks to your prep videos as well ) but now I don't know what to do , could you please guide me on what shall I do next. Shall I forget it like nothing happened and move ahead in life or wait for some more time.. please guide, I am in a conundrum
Hey Jeff! I wanted to say that your videos have been incredibly helpful throughout my interview process at Google. I recently interviewed for an Account Manager role in LCS. So far, I’ve had my initial recruiter call, a hiring manager call, and my final round interview with both a team member and someone cross-functional. It’s been a week since the final interview, and I’m waiting to hear back. My recruiter mentioned last Friday that they’re still deliberating, but I received really positive feedback from the interviewers. However, she didn’t mention anything about moving to HC. Is it common for recruiters to notify candidates when they’ve moved to HC?
@grantlaughlin4117, first of all good luck!! Recruiters should provide as much transparency as they can. You should hear back either way. If you have not heard anything by Thursday morning, I would check in with your Recruiter.
Lol the hat looked great, but the presentation was wonderful, flowing and level set expectations, which made sense so it was valuable, well worth the time watching,
Thanks Jeff for the great videos! I'm truely appreciated about that! I‘m now in interview process for Ads growth manager L4, but I want to try asking for L5, cuz I'm 10 YOE, and my compensation right now is ~20% higher than L4 total comp per HR info. Will there be any chance I get interviewed to match L5 for the sale role? Will there be additional RSU grant every year? Thanks!
@tinayue-jl7rm, it will be hard to get up-leveled from an L4 to L5 during the process, but it is possible. Total compensation should me much higher than the publicized base salary range. If they have given you a hint at total compensation, yes, Refreshers will be given every year to bring your comp up year over year. GOOD LUCK!!!
Perfect timing Jeff! I have an interview coming up in the next couple weeks and this part gets overlooked. I especially liked the “do nothing related to interview material prep 45 mins prior to actual interview”
@YoyoCowboy, awesome, definitely the best piece of advice in this video, in my opinion, all the other advice is important and obvious, but I don't think most people know the importance of not using brain capacity right before the interview.
Love the page but this sorta screwed me up :/. Not only did my interviewer immediately go - “you don’t need to answer like that”, but I spent lotta time memorizing these steps and wording verbatim - that I could barely remember the hypothetical I was asked. Follow STAR format for behavioral. As far as this goes, have a couple follow-ups - come up with some hypotheses and explain how you got there. Not sure if this was meant to follow word for word but it took a lot of the causality from the interview that I thought was going very well until this point. Aside from that - I had a great intro, manager liked me, great behavioral, and questions back. I really hope this portion didn’t cost me but just wanted to let ppl know . Definitely could be based on what works for you + your interviewer’s style but just putting that out there.
@jonnyrocket1018, all I can say is following a system is really important when answering hypothetical questions is really important to stay organized and on point. And putting it into practice is important because we need to make sure that memorizing these steps doesn't screw us up. Lastly, we have to adapt to our interviewer, otherwise all my advice is terrible.
If you don't write down the question, there is a high likelihood that you will answer the wrong question at some point or multiple times during the interview. If your interviewer gets annoyed, you can simply let them know that writing down the question allows you to make sure you are answering the right question. If they get upset with you for writing it down that is a huge red flag! This video might help - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hot6vwJDfb8.html
Hey, thank you for uploading such amazing and helpful videos! I'm grateful to you! Can you please upload a video or provide advice on how to tackle Google Account Manager, Google Ads interview? What kind of hypothetical and behavioral questions can I expect, and do you have any other advice?
@sanasood25, I recommend watching this Account Strategist video, these interviews will be very similar to an Account Manager interview - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jf4DvVv_l18.html.
Hey Jeff. I have my final round interview for an account strategist role at google on Friday. I have only gotten this far thanks to all of your helpful videos! So thank you. One question- my recruiter said we would get offers shortly after the final round, and that because it’s an entry level position there’s really no negotiating the offer. Is this often the case? I want to take your advice on always negotiating, but I may not considering what I was told by the recruiter and don’t want to risk losing it! Thanks for all your videos and help!
@willwolfe9738, good luck!!! I have negotiated Account Strategist offers and I have never seen them not increase the numbers through negotiation. Please keep us posted on your scenario!!!
Thank you so much for your videos Jeff. I passed the first screening thanks to your helpful content. I now have a role related knowledge interview coming up.
Great video! I am unable to join tomorrow's live stream as I have a final round interview for the role I was seeking advice on the last live stream -- I ended up finding the job posting on a third-party site as you suggested...thanks! It's also for a leadership role w/direct reports, which is exciting as it's something I havent done before. One question I have --- I reached out to my HR contact at G with a role that I believe I am a good fit for in which she replied "This one is one of those generic postings for the product area. Unfortunately, not tied to an open role at this time." -- I have heard this is a bit popular right now --- what is the reason for this? I am glad I had a contact to reach out to who helped me out, but if I didnt I 100% would have applied, gotten rejected since there is no actual position, but also would have used up 1 of my 3 total apps within 30 days. I have read that companies are doing this to collect resume's so that when there is an opening they can hand pick their candidates to be interviewed, but wanted to gather your feedback. Thanks Jeff!
@dkat888, good luck today!!! I have not heard that feedback from Google before and this would really go against what is morally right, so I find this to be very very surprising. While I was there, I would hire for a generic Program Manager role sometimes, but I would always have openings to put that person into, it would not just be to source good candidates for a later date! You may want to go back and try and get more clarification, in a really kind and gracious way.
Hey jeff.... any advice for non native english speaker .... I think in my local language and have to kind of convert it to english.... I do have good experience in english... I don't have the level of comfort and confidence like the native speaker ...sometimes it makes difficult to connect with the interviewer ... how can I improve on this?
@sujataadhikari3681, it is always more challenging when English is not your first language because we always tend to translate in our heads in our native language. Remember to breathe, slow down, take your time, and as I almost always find, your skills are probably stronger than you think, trust in yourself! Watch this old video for a few additional tips that might help - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VlX5RhFPqqI.html
@@jeffhsipepi thanks a lot jeff.... I have fit call with the manager...what should I expect and and what should I prepare ..is this a good sign?...it's for google
@@sujataadhikari3681if i can answer this question, it seems to be a good sign. Jeff’s channel has a video on how to prepare for a manager interview. Let me know if u r unable to find it. You can also join Jeff’s RU-vid live every Tuesday at 9 am pt
@user-pt1cz4ot1e, sometimes, people get stuck and using tools like GPT to write a recommendation can help people get unstuck. It can also help optimize/fine tune what people say. So while someone can write a quick recommendation on their own, using AI to make sure it is great can be helpful.
Great content but like a subscriber mentioned in another video: Too overly elaborated. Easy to get confused and lost with so many items to consider. I would simplify a bit more, otherwise Su might get a stroke with so much details 😀
Hey Jeff, I just stumbled onto your channel and am amazed by your content and more by the significant shift in mindset i’ve gained from these videos! A question for you given your experience as a recruiter at Google: I recently graduated undergrad at 24 due to changing my major. Since then, I have discovered my passion for programming and am working on honing my skillet through personal projects through I am yet to gain industrial exp. Can someone of my background receive a full time software engineer role, solely based on Personal projects and what can I focus on to improve? ( considering many interview questions surround prior exp) Thanks!
@Neharr__15, you absolutely can find a job without a formal degree in programming, this is becoming more and more common. Because you have a unique background, really work to network your way into positions. Good luck!
Ugh, I just got this request. I’ve been through 12 interviews last time with them and then layoffs hit! Can’t believe the hoops they’re making everyone go through this year to start a dozen interviews again! 😢
@MySoren1, if you had 12 interviews something went really wrong. Typically, Google only conducts 3-5 interviews for almost all roles. So, I recommend after you pass this assessment, when speaking with your Recruiter, mention that last time you think you had too many interviews (in a nice tone) and can they give you an idea of how many interviews you will need to conduct for this position. It should definitely not be 12! Good luck!!
I had my interview today with the hiring manager and have scheduled the other interview. Your videos were completely helpful. What are the other type of interviews if you can share. It’s for a non tech position working with 3PL teams
@Lamar980, I can't say for sure what interviews you will encounter unless I know the company and then maybe! All I can tell you for 3PL roles is be ready to handle questions around challenging supply chain scenarios you have faced and how you would handle certain scenarios if you encountered them on the job. For the second type of question, check out my videos on how to answer hypothetical questions. Good luck!
@@jeffhsipepi I have prepared all my interview rounds based on your videos , which made my quite comfortable and confident while facing the interviewer. I am awaiting my result now 🤞 🧿
@Geoff_the_Chum, I am not 100% sure I understand your question, but I think what you are asking for is available as a free resources on my website, use the behavioral template - www.practiceinterviews.com/free-resources
Jeff, your videos are amazing! They are not only useful for job interviews. There are a lot to take in so you even excel at work after you get the job.
Jeff! I just accepted an offer for an Account Strategist role at Google in NYC and I have to say I watched your videos religiously to prepare. Thank you so much for putting out such incredible content, it was truly instrumental for my success.
@EthanWilson-m6z, AMAZING, CONGRATS!!!! I wish you the best of luck at Google and if you are willing, I am now asking people to give me a shout out on LinkedIn, of course only if you feel comfortable!
Applied in July. watched this and 2 other of your videos. Studied those a lot. Spent about 8 hours learning google ad s on skill shop. Got the offer today. You are doing the lord's work here.
@skylineconey. AMAZING, CONGRATS!!!! I wish you the best of luck at Google and if you are willing, I am now asking people to give me a shout out on LinkedIn, of course only if you feel comfortable!
Love this video! You provided an answer that I was not sure of for 15 years...Never quite sure how to answer this type of questions...know I do : ) Can I ask one more question - If they ask about your current salary, what is the best strategy on that question?
@DahaiWang-li9gy, I am so glad you found this video helpful! If they ask about your current salary, it is important to know the laws in your country. For example, in some states in the US, they are not allowed to ask that question. If you are in a location where they can ask, simply deflect! "I am interested in learning more about this role and the team, and I can be open and negotiable for the right role. Can you tell me your salary range for this position?" I hope this helps!
Totally agree, human recruiters are the problem. Especially when an agency is hired by an HR department. There are so many interviews to go through and middle people you have to go through. I had to leave the job after 8 weeks because the JD was so different from the day to day tasks. Once in the role I was expected to keep doing it without challenging it. Even the Recuriment agency didn’t understand what details were involved in the role. I was so disappointed ☹️
@sicoco3216, many Recruiters are junior/entry level and not all of them are able to follow through on the many tasks required in the job! Sorry to hear you had this experience!
Why are these red flags? Some of us are looking for hard jobs in uncertain environments and looking to get rewarded accordingly. What are the signs that it will be a thankless job or that your value will go unnoticed?
@jameswhite5293, 100%!! Many of us want to work hard and be successful in environments with unknowns. Sometimes, when companies put these vague environmental buzz words in the job descriptions, it can simply be an indication of unrealistic expectations. Not always, is simply something to be aware of that when companies add these terms, it is for a reason. I hope this helps.
I’m going in for my new grad software engineer interviews at the goog, and man I don’t have anything this exhaustive to talk about… (0 internships, just schoolwork)
@Japan2is4awesome, it is important to remember that the answers I give in these videos are extremely robust. This is to show viewers all the possible items to speak about in their answers. What is most important to think through is the stages of the actions we take. We almost always start by looking at data and having conversations with others. Then we almost always run some tests (not always) before getting into executing. Lastly, we will typically, launch, present, and document at the end. Think through these steps and it will help you create more robust answers. I hope this helps!
My hiring manager questions (2 different hiring managers at Google) only ask about tell me yourself”and the rest of the questions where situational, behavioral, hypothetical questions like real GCA full blown interview and also RRK. I did my “tell me about yourself” in 50 secs (I was pretty happy with that). By the time they were done with their questions, only a few minutes was left for me to ask them and I asked away until the time was up lol. I ask if I could continue as I want to be mindful of their time. And they said to send the questions through the recruiter. The 45 mins time goes by so quick. I felt that we needed 1 hour for each interview so candidates can ask their questions. Jeff, so if the hiring managers like me, what happens next?
@22bouha, interesting that you met with two hiring managers, maybe because they were targeting you for two different roles? Either way, next steps would likely be the more formal interview process, but I definitely recommend asking your Recruiter what is next. Good luck! Lastly, I totally agree, very few interviewers at any company, truly leave enough time for the candidate's questions!!
Thanks for your videos! I managed to land L4 SWE at Google - and I think your videos about leadership & googleeness helped me immensely as I had this interview with my future manager, who liked me a lot and advocated heavily! You're the best!
@widnyj5561, AMAZING, CONGRATS!!!!!!!! I wish you the best of luck at Google. If you want to do a LinkedIn post highlighting my videos as a resource, that is always greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your videos and keep at it. Soon your subscribers will rise. I followed your advice and I just passed my hiring manager interview and Google and moving to the next step. I applied online, no referral.
