So appreciate these videos! I have been searching for truth since age 19 when I had this really startling realization of Samasara and no self (ego). I was 19! I did not understand what happened! I changed to psychology thinking the answer was there, practiced and learned yoga, which seemed much closer, fell away, but was still searching. Finally, almost 50 years later, I have found Buddhism from Robina! This appears as the path that needs to be followed. Thank you so much!

What an unworthy excuse to keep eating dairy. The real reason is because dairy is highly addictive and it’s close to impossible for give it up. But, when you can picture the crying mother that her calf baby is taken away from her at birth and is being treated with a blow to his head, because he’s useless to the farmer. Such cruelty is almost first to none.

I love it, I also agonised over 'killing beings' and realised to not kill outwardly I wouldn't walk, drive, fly or buy things that had been part of the agricultural practices etc

I don't think I agree with the vision about karma, maybe I understand it wrong? Ven Robina says that Buddha says, as I understand, we should not kill our cat even the cat is suffering and there is no recovery, because we don't know the cat's past or future karma and may do more harm to its future life. Would that mean we should't even take the cat to the doctor if the cat is sick ( maybe there is a change to save it) because we should not intervene in the cats karma as maybe the cat' karma is to suffer in this life?

@martinstrom 2 года назад
No, that would be a misunderstanding. We should always benefit sentient beings as much as possible. If a cat is sick of course we should take it to the doctor. The reason we shouldn't kill a cat to try to stop it's suffering is that death is a situation where we transition into a new state of being depending on our karma. It is impossible to know what karma ripens and what our next rebirth will be. So Venerable Robina's point is that since we don't know what karma will ripen for the cat, if we kill it to stop it's suffering we might actually cause it to end up in a situation that is more much, much worse. So if we don't know the cat's karma (which we won't unless we are a fully enlightened Buddha) instead of stopping the cat's suffering we might end up making it much, much worse by killing it.

Oh how I appreciate these teachings for a multitude of reasons but especially explaining prostration as after being in various car accidents in recent years, that were not my fault, I went from being strong and physically fit to having lingering effects from injures which did not allow me to me to do the prostration that went down to the ground and up again but there are other prostration I can do. Perhaps after doing more yoga perhaps I can bring my body back and do the down to the ground prostration, who knows ? But don't want to put myself back in a position that brings me back to the doctors office. I found myself imagining myself doing prostration in a light body. I am 70 years old so learning patience with oneself due to aging process as well.

Funny how Robina always urges people to "check up" and "check things out for yourself" ... she clearly didn't do her homework on Trump, one of the greatest presidents America has had in a very long time. He was weeks away from possible peace in the middle east, involved in no wars, his office's work in Tibet... the list goes on... despite how the corporate media sold him what America now have is a genuine race-baiting criminal and war-monger illegally in office. Trump 2024! 🙌🤣
